The American Book Center is one of the few that carry English books the most here. They have wide range of disciplines and many types of books available. The place was quite spacious with ladders between book racks which looked majestic. I managed to explore to each floor and found some interesting books. It's just lack of sitting place, other than the cafe, so can't really spend longer time here. The first floor had some interesting novels that I believe won't be found in my home country lol. Next floor has a side full of classic and modern poetry books. The people are also helpful and informative. Will visit here again on next trip.

Nice store stretching over three floors, full of books in English – fiction, YA, non-fiction. A few books are on sale, so it's worth keeping an eye out for the shelves in between that say "Sale". You can also find postcards, magazines and games, plus there's a café (which I haven't tried though). A great place for anyone looking for books in English!

I recently checked out the American Book Center in Amsterdam, and I was really impressed. The three floors have a great selection of books on various topics. It's a fantastic spot for anyone who loves books.

This place is a trap as in, once you enter you don't want to leave anymore and easily can spend a day inside. For a break you go to the cafe inside where a very friendly man offers you teas, cakes.... The shop is huge with an extensive range of book genres and all in a three level beautiful shop.

You would LOVE this bookstore as much as we did, from the book’s display, which gives you the chance to walk around the place without stoping until you find what you are looking for, to the large variety of books for all kind of people and minds. Very good selection of children’s books. Great place to get also a perfect gift. You can enjoy a nice beverage during your visit in a little cafe on the second floor . Very profesional and friendly service, I’m coming back for sure!

A great place for book lovers. Very courteous and helpful staff. A huge selection of literature in English. A huge selection of board games and various add-ons. A place where you can buy everything for DND games and more. A chic café with delicious coffee and cool baristas.

A huge bookstore with books in English. Three floors full of books! It’s like a dream come true. There is a decent Sci-Fi / Fantasy section on the 1st floor. The selection of books is really good. Interestingly enough, there is a small stand with MTG products (boosters, commander decks and a few other products). I would like to specifically mention that the staff is very polite and helpful.

Love this spot! Really great location at the end of Spuistraat. Friendly staff. The store has a large supply of books. It is almost exclusively English books. Can get kinda pricey 📚💜

The bookstore is one of my favorite places to visit and read books. It has the loveliest small cafe on the first floor and four floors of books to choose from. I believe all of the books are in English, and the staff is always kind and willing to assist. There are also a range of different things available, such as cards, paintings, bookmarks, and so on.

A very nice bookstore which was nicely organized and easy to navigate. It also had a nice personal touch with books along the walls of the first stair case. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Seemed like they had a nice variety of books, would recommend stopping by.

A very nice bookstore with a huge selection of English books spread over 3 floors. They have good discounts on recent books which are a bit damaged, but it is a great opportunity to grab some of those popular books you've been dying to read for a more affordable price. For reference, I paid 8€/book for "Well Traveled" by Jen DeLuca and "You've Reached Sam" by Dustin Thao. They also have wrapped books for the "Blind date with a book" trend which is so cute. I was so curious about what some of those books were. These are around 13€/book. They also have a nice selection of board games.

Manga review: When I saw the manga section was hidden away in a little corner I didn't have particularly high expectations but it turned out to be quite the impressive collection. It's a little confusing at first as the shelves are completely disorganized but you can find a wide variety of genres and a large amount of manga amongst the clutter. Definitely worth checking out.

I love coming here to just stroll around and find inspiration from book covers. One of my favorite bookshops in town cause they’ve got it all. Vast collection of books in every category, very organized so it’s not hard to find a book without assistant, helpful staff, good cafe and good discounts. Sometimes I would come for one book but I end up spending more.

Love this place. It's a multicultural melting pot with staff willing to get out of their way to help you find your titles. I enjoy taking a corner to read through what books i intend to buy. The variety of books at hand is amazing. It's a great escape especially if you're feeling lonely. Makes for a great date idea too :)

Loved this place and wish I could stay there more, if you in Amsterdam and you like reading books you should give this bookstore a visit , the second floor is where most of the books and there is small cafe in the corner, really enjoyed my visit and will be back if I’m ever in Amsterdam again.

One of my favorite bookstores in the Netherlands. Big selection of books with ALL the genres. Classics. Deluxe versions. Hardcover and paperback. The heave it all. Cozy little area with coffee and cake. Definitely worth a visit!

Great place with a lot of books / games. With 3 floors worth of books, you’re bound to find what you’re looking for, but if you don’t, the staff is glad to help out in finding out how to get what you need. On the second floor there’s also a small corner where you can sit down and enjoy your new purchase

This is my favorite book shop in Amsterdam, not only because is plenty of books with original and uniqueness editions but because it has a caffe where you can read the book you get or just drink a warm coffee or hot chocolate. In addition if you are student you get 10% discount off.

The American Book Center is a very eye appealing bookstore with a large quantity and variety of books. Because the store is multi level it's easier to know where u have to go without giant crowds of people smothering you. Sadly the high popularity of the store can sometimes make it quite hard to get a employees full attention. If you're a student, be sure to show your student pas to get a 15% discount. Overall a very nice shopping experience, very costumer friendly. Definitely recommended

The fact of having a tree in there and having books almost at the same price of Amazon (specially if you subscribe) is what keeps me a loyal customer since I discovered the place.

This bookshop is heaven on earth, not only are they having a big variety of interesting topics but also a beautiful little café inside, where you can rest, having a nice coffee while flipping through the pages and enjoy the good athmosphere. The waiter has such a nice attitude, it's a pleasure to be his guest. Will go there definitely again and recommend it to all my friends as it's one of my best memories of Amsterdam).
