My first time eating food from Suriname and it was a pleasant surprise. Delicious food at affordable prices in Amsterdam. I followed the recommendations of the menu, as Javanese rames. It was really tasty. They serve abundant meat on their dishes and vegetables, you’ll be satisfied with the portions size. Friendly and efficient staff. Really cool music and casual atmosphere. This restaurant doesn’t need my review, I guess, as the couple of times I was there the place was full or almost full and I could tell most of them were locals. However, someone might find this review useful.

The waiter was genuinely the kindest person I’ve met in my entire trip to Europe. I’m from the USA, and I find everyone in Europe to be incredibly rude. This man greeted me with a smile, and specially took into account my peanuts allergy. in my entire week in this continent, this was my best experience. 5 stars. Everyone should eat here.

Don't understand why this place had good reviews. Extremely salty foods. Microwave roti dish as some parts are hot but some parts are still cold. Customer service is terrible like they don't care even when there are not a lot of customers. Bad experience, not recommended.

Very tasty the food. Good portions that satisfied our appetites whilst not bankrupting us. In all honesty, good prices for the quantity and quality of food you get. Moreover, they have many options obs, including vegetarian and vegan ones too!!

A lovely small place with authentic feeling food. Large portions, nice prices that are definitely worth a visit. You can pay by card. Just minded the occasional cigarette smoke and street smells that did get in.

Came highly recommended and our dinner was a highly anticipated return visit by my son. Food is delicious, I enjoyed the specialJavanese Rame. Great atmosphere, seemed to be well loved by locals. Service disappointing, from a long wait to place our food and drinks order to a small request for glasses for our drinks to be told that glasses were dirty. Very hard to catch attention of waiting staff, especially disappointing when surrounding tables were served attentively. Hopefully an off night, when the previous hospitality and service had been memorable at their previous smaller restaurant.

So far I have only tried the Saoto soup and it was amazing! Good toppings and broth was very flavorful. Ingredients were separate so they don’t get soggy for takeaway. Service very friendly. Only drawback is that the place is popular and i had to wait 30 mins for my order. I will definitely come again to try their other dishes!

Always love the food here. The sate is very well marinated, the saoto is flavorful with the side of the yellow sambal. Ambiance is good, everyone is welcomed like a family here!

Surinamese and javanese food, autenthic typical cuisine with intense and delicious flavors. The place is small and a bit noisy if it is full (which it always is due to its quality). But it is worth it to sit down and enjoy the food and drinks. Friendly service.

We visited this place and whilst the food was ok at the time, once I got home the food poisoning kicked in. I was violently ill for 3-4 days following my meal here. I couldn't with all honesty recommend this place to anyone despite the friendliness of the staff.

This restaurant is a must go if you ever visit Amsterdam. Their foods are incredible, my biggest recommendation would be chicken Soto soup and Telo with spicy cod. If you like food with strong flavor and texture you’re gonna love this dish!

I had a very nice meal in this restaurant. Very friendly service and nice atmosphere. Portions are big enough, which I liked. The dish which I ordered was nicely cooked, meat was tender, and I liked veggies on the plate. Everything was fresh. Lovely extra sauces, which you can add. The place is busy, which is a very good sign. Overall, it's was a nice experience, and I would love to come back.

Took 30+ minutes to make the order. Repeated the order multiple times and still didn't give me the right stuff. I asked without egg, they gave us eggs. I asked vegetarian they gave chicken in the veggie soup. Quality use to be good here but they're slacking. Even found a hair in the rice. Will not come back again

Had a crazy good experience! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and helped me decide what to have for lunch. They suggested the fried plantain and the brown rice with chicken satay. Probably the best food experience in my life so far! Very tasty and flavorful.

I'd been looking for a nice, affordable place to have a dinner and cannot be more delighted. Food is delicious and portions are generous. Also short waiting time after making an order. Other customers had been recommending all the specials, so on the photos You can see Pitjel (as appetizer) and Spang Makandra Special. To be honest those two things made enough of food for 2 people's meal ;) This restaurant is a bit small, so I would suggest making a reservation.

This was my first time having surinamese food, and it won't be the last one for sure. The food was great : massive portions as well. Service amazing,.the very kind waiter took his time to explain everything once I told him.it was my first time having surinamese. Food is tasty and with a wide choice of plates. Nicely spicy with sauces to company your meal.

The owner was super friendly and provided us with excellent recommendations. The mixed meat thin fried noodles were amazing and the chicken satay had so much flavour. I highly recommend getting the surinamese syrup or ginger drink. I will definitely be coming back when I am in Amsterdam.

First time eating food from Suriname and it was great. The service left a lot to be desired as the staff were too busy chatting with each other to see me waiting for a table.

I ate here with two buddies and all three of us couldn’t be more satisfied with the food. We were served quickly, the staff were generous, and I repeat: the food was fantastic. I had the special and each item on my plate was expertly cooked. Small interior but you come for the food first and foremost. Would recommend. I’ll be returning.

Sometimes you'll need to wait a bit to enter (popular!). Great taste 👌I took the special bowl, and everything was so delicious 😋, the quantity was more than enough i could not finish it. Lastly, the service was very fast. Must try.

The food was very good and the portions were decent. The spring roll was a bit surprising for me, shape and size wise, but the taste was very good still. The chicken roti could be better, it wasn't the best I had, nonetheless it's still worth trying The potatoes were a little on the hard side for my taste with a very slight crunch and needed more cooking, the egg was over cooked and the coating was hard/leathery. Maybe those could be done better, the chicken and gravy however were well made. The restaurant is tiny, so there might be a waiting period (depends on when you go).Takeout option is available and might be faster. All in all, nice experience and will definitely go back.

Very good. My 1st Surinamese food, very tasty and good feeling. Beware of the yellow chilli on tables :) 4 stars instead of five because quite worn furniture and no beer to the food :)

Giancarlo was super welcoming. We ate the lamb and vegetarian dishes with roti and rice. Filling, well flavoured with decent portion sizes. The salt fish and fried cassava was tasty too.
