I would definitely recommend this to everyone! Sara was our host. We loved that she was American. Great guide, super knowledgeable about the food and the city. We had a great time with her. The tour took place at the Albert Cuyp Market. Lots to see, do and eat there. Worth every penny.

The tour with Esther-Hanna was amazing. We never felt like a typical tourist group, more like a bunch of friends in search for great food. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in the Street Foods in Amsterdam.

This was a great way for me (a Dutchman) to introduce my American partner to Dutch food. We got an amazing tour of Dutch, Indonesian and Surinamese food, and of the De Pijp neighborhood and Amsterdam history. Our guide Esther-Hanna had expert knowledge of food, the city and its history, and with her connections to the local businesses we were able to skip the line everywhere we went. A must-do if you're visiting Amsterdam!

I thoroughly enjoyed my Hungry Birds tour! I never would have known to visit the specific food stalls or markets without this tour. Our guide, Anne, was so sweet & personable; she shared her knowledge about Amsterdam and its food culture, making this tour both fun and educational. She was an absolute delight! I highly recommend this tour to anyone with a curious palate & mind. Even if you're only visiting for a few days, I encourage this tour; you'll experience Amsterdam from an authentic, multicultural perspective that you'll be hardpressed to experience otherwise & come out with a much richer appreciation for this lovely city & its diversity. Worth every penny!

If you want to experience a worldwide cavalcade of food in 4 hours take this tour; it was awesome! Esther-Hanna was our guide and couldn't have been better. Our international group of 9 visited a host of food places in and around the fascinating Albert Cuypmarket area. Esther-Hanna knew every proprietor and worker in each of them. She told a story about each provider's history, their place in the Amsterdam local food scene, and how the foods were prepared. Be prepared to try some offerings you don't see every day (e.g., smoked eel). Be prepared to taste some of the very best of common foods (e.g., falafel). Be prepared to drink some of the finest tea from an absolutely beautiful tea shop. With all this you also get to see some street art and a beautiful local park on your walk. We thought ended our day at a classic Amsterdam brown bar drinking Jenever and beer but no, we headed off further to have a stroopwaffle, oddly shaped licorice, and some of the best Indonesian food ever. Don't make the mistake one of our tour companions made - - - scheduling a five course dinner afterwards. You will be more than full and better than satisfied after this experience. We can't recommend HungryBirds and Esther-Hanna highly enough. If you love food, do this tour. It was more than worth the time and money invested. Thanks HungryBirds!

We had an excellent food tour this week with Charmaine of Hungry Birds Food Tours! We met at Albert Cuyp Market and she guided and fed us through 7 food stops. The whole tour was on foot, wandering through the market and the de Pijp neighborhood. We sampled croquettes at FEBO (like an automat), Surinamese food at Tjin’s, falafel at Sonny’s, fresh fish at Volendammer fish market, poffertjes (tiny pancakes) at Albert Cuyp and Stroopwafels at Rudi’s. In between we had drinks, hot and cold, and sampled fabulous licorice. It rained off and on but Charmaine kept us under awnings or indoors whenever needed. It was a great tour, we thoroughly enjoyed at and Charmaine!

Loved, loved, loved my tour with Hungry Bird Esther! I feel so fortunate that she had time to take me with my last-minute request, and my three-hour tour was everything I could have hoped for. I’ve done food tours in cities around the world, and this was definitely a great one—not a canned tour of the same old spots. I’m gluten free, and Esther went above and beyond to accommodate me—cannot even imagine what else they could offer those of you without any dietary restrictions! This tour was food, but also a lot more with cultural information and great conversation. I highly recommend giving Hungry Birds a try.

We often like to do a walking tour when we land in a new city, but we had never done a food tour before. Hungry Birds was suggested by Lonely Planet so we booked it our first full day in Amsterdam. Don't be worried by the fact that you meet in front of a McDonald's. Anna, our guide, and Gideon, a new guide-in-training, met a group of 6 of us and we spent the next 5 hours walking just one neighborhood and sampling everything from sandwiches from Surinam, traditional Dutch salt-cured herring, stroopwaffels, Indonesian street snacks, and a host of other treats, ending up in a bar that hires people with disabilities. Can''t remember when we've had more fun on a walking tour! Anna and Gideon were fabulous hosts/guides and we'll be seeking out other food tours when we travel to other cities. What a fantastic introduction to Amsterdam!

Had an amazing tour with Charmaine yesterday. My wife and I were visiting Amsterdam for the first time and we decided that a food tour was in order. My wife did a ton of research before settling on Hungry Birds. We wanted something that focused on food more than drink and this hit the spot perfectly. Amazing experience, knowledgeable and very personable guide. Super accommodating with preferences Highly recommended!

This tour really showcased how great the food can be in Amsterdam and our guide, Anne, was so knowledgeable and friendly. If you ever think of going to a city and wanting someone to ask Jeopardy questions to about the best foods and city trivia, Hungry Birds is the way to go. Anne was an amazing tour guide and made our whole trip to Amsterdam better!

Best way to get to experience Amsterdam like a local. This amazing group does walking tours which incorporate food, facts, and fun. So much fun that I've done it twice now and can't wait to do it again. Bring your walking shoes, a bottle of water, and your stretchy pants. It's a great time with lovely people and you always get to meet interesting folks who are traveling and interested in similar things as you. I can't say enough wonderful things about this company.

Excellent, wonderful experience! This is NOT one of those tours where you get a tiny morsel of food and are still hungry at the end of it. You will be stuffed with so much amazing food! Charmaine was our guide, and she was incredible. So friendly and engaging, and she helped with my young son as well, keeping him entertained and making sure he had plenty to eat and things he liked (he’s generally a good eater but he’s still learning to like some things). My friend and I are both vegetarians, and they were able to customize the tour for us to feature lots of veggie dishes (just contact them beforehand). Highly recommend!

We were initially disappointed that the walking tour was not available, but the self-guided bike tour did not let us down! Great tour of the city and great food along the way. Highly recommend!

Anne was an amazing guide and provided a fantastic experience for my first trip to Amsterdam! You will absolutely get an authentic culinary experience but learn so much more about the city and hidden gems along the way. Would highly recommend to any foodie or tourist looking for an authentic experience while in Amsterdam!

In the beginning we thought four hours is a long time for a food tour, but in the end time flew by! Anne is the most amazing sweet host and you can tell Hungry Birds have a genuinely good standing with the various vendors. We had the best time! Thank you so much!

Such a lovely relaxt tour with Esther-Hanna. It felt like we were hanging out with friends while trying new foods and enjoy the local culture. A great way to immerse in the local life of the Dutch people.

We did a Hungry Birds tour with Sarah on our first day in Amsterdam. What a great insight into Dutch life - from traditional Dutch food to Surinamese food to vending machine food to Genever and beer, and more. What a great way to spend 4 hours with a local, Sarah was delightful, she shared her viewpoint of Dutch life and customs, in a fun and insightful way. The tour was great value, we met some interesting and lovely fellow travellers, all in all a perfect day. For two jet-lagged Australians, it was great that our Mother Bird Sarah guided us through De Pijp without us having to think too much - thanks so much. It was great much fun

The Hungry Birds food tour was amazing. Esther-Hanna Was our guide and very knowledgeable about the food, local area, the people that made the food, ethnic and cultural influences, and the story that combines it all together. I loved that all the food we ate was from family and local businesses.I would highly recommend this tour.

My girlfriend and I did the Hungry Birds food tour today after hearing about it from a colleague. Our guide Anne was not only knowledgeable in all aspects of Dutch life, but genuinely a lovely person to tour Amsterdam with. The food (Dutch, Indonesian and Surinamese) was excellent and we had an amazing time, we will be going back to a few of them! The 5 hours absolutely flew by and we would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Amsterdam. Thank you Anne!

What an amazing day learning about Amsterdam food, culture and history with Hungry Birds! Anne was such a pleasure, both as a knowledgeable guide, and a lovely person to talk to. The five hours flew by, and every food stop felt unique and very local. The De Pijp neighborhood is a food paradise which I may not have found without Hungry Birds. I've already been back there for more.

Our first trip to Amsterdam started with a HungryBirds street food tour with Esther-Hanna. We visited loads of food outlets with really interesting stories and tasty treats. It was also a great introduction to the De Pijp area. Esther-Hanna was great company, offering us a fascinating insight into the multi cultural cuisine of the area. Thank you..... Was great fun!

This was a lovely experience! Ended up having a private food tour which resulted in one of the highlights of the trip as we spent time learning more about the history and culture of Amsterdam. Our guide, Esther-Hanna was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly -- really made the tour amazing! Felt like walking through the city with a friend. Can't wait to come back
