Really slow service and while we were waiting for them to take our order they ran out of all the buns that we came here for. Disappointing service.

Adorable place with great food! We had breakfast here recently and really enjoyed it! The food is so fresh and tasty with lots of healthy options and oh my god the cinnamon buns - heaven! It’s a really cozy place with a lovely terrace to soak up some sun. Also, the staff is super friendly. I’m definitely coming here again.

Trendy Nordic Bakery with excellent coffee (from Stooker Roasting) and delicious, Nordic-style food. Ending your visit with a homemade Cardamom bun is a must!

Selma's is a cozy Scandinavian spot in West. Authentic pastries, cheesy grilled cheeses, and good specialty coffee. Warm atmosphere, friendly staff. A must-visit, especially if your Danish girlfriend loves it!

Lovely atmosphere and there was an adorable cat to keep you company. They have blankets if you’re cold and I saw some people working. So might be a good remote working spot. I’m sure I’ll be corrected if not!

45 Minutes and 9,50 Euro for a slice of bread. I live in the area and I have been a couple of time before to this cute bakery. This Monday I went for brekfast with my girlfriend and we had to wait 35 minutes for 2 coffes, having to ask again about where they were. That might happen but the biggest problem was the bread. I ordered a special Smorrebro, with pear and egg. After waiting for it to be baked for 20 minutes I got delivered the slice of bread you see in the photo. How can it be possible to pay 9,50 for something this small? It's not even a sandwich.

Maybe this place had just been overhyped to me, but I was definitely underwhelmed. The cinnamon pastries were suuuper overpriced for being so dry on the inside, the coffee was lukewarm, and the ambiance wasn't very welcoming. Maybe I'll come back to try the brunch items another time since this restaurant is so popular.

The food is so tasty! I had skagenrora, the portions were very big and the prices aren’t bad at all.

The food is okay and all the waitresses I met were really lovely, but honestly I was a bit shocked by the way the owners treat their employees. Really unpleasant and unprofessional, they are scolding their waitresses in front of everybody... almost humiliating. Maybe it was a single case, I really hope so.

What an utterly charming gem of a shop! You know when you hear about a darling Dutch experience? Well Selmas 100% embodies that notion! Even standing outside, one can not only see the outstanding offerings but can actually feel the awesome vibes emanating from within. This place makes you smile and feel nice inside. The pastries are magnificent and that cardamom bun now lives rent-free in my head and heart 💜 The service is wonderful. Really good people work here- you can feel the heart and soul of the employees as regulars stop in and enjoy light banter. Just such a nice place to be! They had an interesting array of brewing items for sale and an intriguing looking oat-milk too also for sale. They also have an amazing looking vegan option too 🌱 If I were a local, I’d be a regular 💜 Selma uses a local Amsterdam-based coffee roaster called Stooker which they perfect on a gorgeous Lamarzocco ☕️ Overall, it doesn’t get more perfect than this 🥰

Not rating for food. Just took an espresso, that wasn't on level. Too much water and not the right amount, not hot enough, too many bubbles as seen on the picture and the taste wasn't delicate.

Venturing into this Nordic bakery was a delightful experience that left my taste buds yearning for more. The moment I stepped in, the aroma of freshly baked goods, particularly the cardamom buns, wafted through the air. These buns were the unequivocal stars, boasting a perfect balance of softness and flakiness, generously infused with aromatic cardamom that added a unique and unforgettable twist. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff enhanced the overall experience, making it a welcoming haven for pastry enthusiasts. Whether you're a cardamom aficionado or simply in search of exceptional baked treats, this Nordic bakery is a must-visit for a delicious and memorable indulgence.

Had a spinach tosti here, a cappucino and the famous cinnamon bun. All were very tasty and especially the cappucino was probably the best cappucino I’ve had in a while! The service was lovely too - the place has a nice homey feel to it

The most delicious cinnamon bun and I don’t get tired of the them. Soft, sticky yet with a bite. The vegan option is less fluffy but makes sense without the use of eggs etc. Nonetheless very yummy. And let’s not start about the pastries!!! Staff is friendly and you can grab sugar at the counter. If you expect to be served from A to Z: go to a high end coffee place like Uncommon or 4850 ;) I personally don’t mind grabbing water myself

As a Dane, this is probably my favorite little café. Super cute interior, nice staff, and high quality food and beverages. Toasties are unreal together with the proper rugbrød and scandinavian pastries.

The best coffee in the neighborhood without a doubt. The staff are always friendly and relaxed. I particularly love the chocolate balls and the rye bread they bake on site

Super cute nordic coffeeplace with very comfy sitting nooks to have a coffee and a treat while reading your paper. The cardamom buns are so tasty! And the little pies as well!

  • 5/5 Cor C. 1 year ago on Google
Imagine your hippest Scandinavian friend opened a coffee shop in Amsterdam, it’s this place. All the Scandi pastels, wooden floors and subtle art with the smell of cardamon in the air. Both the cinnamon and the cardamon buns are delicious and the coffees are seriously sized. They have a cute cat and plenty of nooks to work and day dream about moving Northward.

Delicious fresh food (try the halloumi salad!) and on point pastries and desserts (coming from an extremely picky baker!). Service is always fast and friendly too. Definitely a great spot for breakfast/lunch/brunch.

Nice cozy place, first went in for an afternoon coffee & a book session, and came back regularly ever since. They have yummy cinnamon buns, and great fresh food- not to mention all the cakes that are simply delicious (try the vegan cheesecake!). The halloumi bowl is amazing, and I'm yet to try the meatballs :) When it's sunny outside it's great to sit on the terrace outside. My every-once-in-a-while weekend place :)

I absolutely adore Selma's! The food is incredibly healthy and delicious, the atmosphere is lively and charming, the service is always kind and joyful! What a perfect place for a family breakfast, a student study group or meeting, a quick coffee to go, you name it! Certainly a hidden gem worth visiting in Amsterdam!

Delicious nordic-inspired brunch in a dreamy little pastel restaurant, Selma's is a great spot for a long slow brunch and a few coffees, or a quick pick-me-up to go. Somehow, their eggs on toast is the best combination of these two simple ingredients that I have ever had, probably due to their super high quality ingredients :)
