For €50 a night for a double room to be considered a "bargain", one might reasonably expect a certain level of comfort and cleanliness. Admittedly, there's nothing particularly wrong with it until you get inside. Once you do, however, the problems start appearing rapidly. The bathroom: The door handle falls off the door. There's no shower curtain. The showerhead hangs limply and points at the wall. The floor slopes down away from the plughole, meaning there's permanently a pretty grim puddle and lots of mould. You'll need to amputate your left leg before you can sit on the toilet. The main room: The TV didn't work. We asked if it could be fixed. It then started working again, but no one came to say it had been fixed and there was no indication that it was anything other than a fluke. The stench of weed drifts in from smokers in the hotel grounds as soon as you open the window. There's no way of securing the curtain, so it promptly takes up residence in the gutter at the slightest breath of wind. The dirt from the unclean windowsill blows into one of the beds with the window open. We think one of the beds has something nasty living in it. My friend woke up with countless insect bites. If it all gets too much you can at least end it quickly by electrocuting yourself on the bare live wires showing in one of the plug sockets. Overall: One out of five. Much worse than camping. Would only be a bargain at €5 per night.

Nice accomodation. The staff is really friendly and helpful in giving nice tips. The location of the hotel is not very centered by it's really close to tram station with which is super simple to get in the heart of the city. Renting a bike is also a great option!

The hostel is not recommended, it smells musty as soon as you walk in, the rooms are clean and are cleaned daily but extremely noisy. The heating didn't work, the room was cold. The toilet couldn't be used properly! (see photos). The WiFi is good.

A right dump that is probably scheduled for demolition. It's more like a long 2 storey shed built for workmen on a site. No disrespect to tradesmen! The worst place I've ever stayed and not even reasonably priced for the state of it. Only got the 1 star as I wasn't able to review it with the no stars it merits

The worst place I have ever stayed in, total rip off. We paid 93€ for a small, smelly, dated, noisy room. The only clean bits were the sheets and towels. Made of pre fab walls, mouldy curtains, rotten door frame etc. If it was 35€ for the room I would not complain. Avoid, unless you come to Amsterdam only to experience 'the' coffee shops and you might not notice the above.

This is a terrible place. Dirty sheets, dirty mattresses (stains). A terrible attitude of staff to guests, they are not ready to go to a meeting with the client, and if you have booked the room here and your plans have changed, you will not get money back, even if you beg for it. I do not recommend anyone to stop here.

Absolutely vile. Despite knowing I wouldn't get a refund of what I'd paid (£100) I still went and booked another place on the day. Basically an outdoor shed, Rude staff, dirty rooms and you can book a way better hotel for the same budget price. I would recommend Bastion hotel.

This hotel is only for people who are happy with little or only use the hotel to sleep and are out and about a lot during the day anyway. The reception is opposite in the “Westside Inn”. Although we announced in advance that we would arrive between 12 and 1 p.m., we were not allowed into the room until 3 p.m. You can and do smoke outside the hotel, so the smell of certain herbs can waft into the room in the evening. The whole hotel is pretty noisy, especially the bathrooms in your own room. The room was quite small but comfortable and mostly clean. There are stains on the walls and the ceiling is not covered. The toilet lid didn't stay up and when I showered the entire bathroom filled with water. The window was difficult to open. Some of the sockets were broken and the light bulbs in the floor lamp were missing. There was a television that also had German-language channels and even a fan and safe. In general it was a pretty dump but since we were traveling a lot and didn't spend much time in the room, it wasn't a big problem for me, but other guests were obviously not very happy and even almost swapped rooms with us.

(+) The location is acceptable, just 5 minutes walking and then another 20 minutes by tram number 2 to get downtown. (+) The best thing is that each room has its own bathroom. (+) The price is okay for Amsterdam, only 50 euro/night (+) There is a private parking in the yard of the hotel. It costs 12 euro/day (-) The room is basic, but cleanliness can be better.

Good: close to the tram that takes you to the city centre in 10 min. Close to the train station too. Staff was friendly. Bad: very run down hostel. There’s basically two sections, the “hotel” and the “hostel”. The hotel seemed nice, but we stayed at the hostel because we were on a “budget”; mind you, it was the most expensive place we booked in our euro trip ($100 PER NIGHT), and it was the least expensive at the time in Amsterdam. The hallways didn’t smell too good, the bedroom didn’t feel clean (especially the bedding), beds were not comfy at all, and the shower did not have a ledge so the water went everywhere inside the bathroom. In addition, the drain was clogged so the entire bathroom was full of water and we could not go in without getting our feet/shoes/socks wet. This hostel was very expensive for what it offered, and with all the money they make they should do some remodeling and refacing.

Our stay was in August 2018 and we booked it through booking. The images stored there are not current and do not correspond to the current situation! Since the hotel area is currently under construction, my first impression of the hostel was that it must be accommodation for the construction workers... Our room was the first on the ground floor. It has a double bed, two armchairs and a table, a safe, mirror, trash can, coat rack and some hangers. The room was clean but in need of renovation. Unplastered plasterboard and open pipes run through the room. The sliding window could only be opened a few centimeters, the only ceiling lighting was quite dark, lots of stains on the walls, broken plastic cover on the socket, broken spots in the laminate. The television receives some German channels, but only the public ones. The free WiFi also worked. The bed had two different pillows, a large blanket. The bedding was clean. The bed was comfortable, although the mattress was a bit sagging in the middle. There was a strong smell of chlorine in the bathroom. Two disposable toothbrush cups, hand soap and shower gel/shampoo were laid out. There was no storage space and no hook for towels. Overall, the bathroom appeared clean, only the cosmetic bin and the toilet brush holder showed rust spots. Toilet, tiles and fittings were clean. The annoying thing is that you wet a large part of the bathroom while showering. The room is very noisy. When the adjacent stairs were used, you could not only hear it, but also feel it through the vibration. The ventilation system is installed directly in front of the room and runs constantly and not exactly quietly. The exhaust air from the bathrooms goes into the hallway, which can sometimes smell a bit unpleasant ;-) Room service was there while we were away. The bed was made, the trash was emptied and towels were on the bed. Unfortunately I can't say whether these towels were fresh or ours were used. When we arrived, the towels were tightly rolled up on the bed. After using them, I hung them up on the coat rack, a small one on a hanger on the shower rail in the bathroom. When we returned, there were towels lying together on the bed... About the location: Supermarkets and restaurants are nearby. The hostel is a few minutes walk from a tram station. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the center by train. I would describe the situation as a problem area. Open drug use. We were begged several times. Conclusion: Since our room was clean, it was okay for us. And you don't really need more than one bed for a city trip. We paid around €180 for two nights at the weekend, plus a parking fee (€12.50/day). A hefty price for a hostel, but “cheap” for Amsterdam.

Worst Hostel in the world!!!! TERIBILE!!! Avoid this hostel. It's better to sleep in the trainstation. It's warmer and cleaner. It's colder inside the room than outsite. Windows don't close and it's windy all night and day. We told them 3 times to bring something to heat the rooom but nothing. WORST HOSTEL EVER. AVOID IT. They charge 100 Euros for a room that you can't even sleep in. Avoid it. Stay anywhere else. Does not matter where.

Just a place where to crash. Not dirty. Pretty small room. Meant just for sleep take a shower and go again. Part of an hotel, the service is kinda of good. The receptionist was always extremely kind and useful. This hostel is more likely a very cheap hotel nothing reminds me an hostel

Not worth a star, you can't write a review without a star... We booked for one night. The reception was in the main hotel. If you want to get high for free, you only need to spend half an hour in the entrance area. Joints can be consumed in front of the hotel and in front of the hostel. Positive: There is luggage storage at your own risk if you get there before 3 p.m. The hotel is currently being remodeled, but it already looks modern and the hostel has probably been forgotten. Impression from the outside: Containers have been stacked and covered with wood, blind windows, broken outdoor area. Pictures of the accommodation on the booking portal are very outdated as is the hostel itself. Desolate, long hallway, room on the left side, very loud air conditioning, worn out carpet, damage and dirt on the walls, previous windows and passages were nailed up with chipboard. There is no wardrobe in the room, two chairs, a small table, an uplighter, two beds, a mirror, a small table with a safe underneath and a small television, that's it. Window runs across the entire width of the room, only to be pushed open if It worked. Curtains were closed upon arrival, not very inviting, opening the curtains revealed mold and dirt as well as dirty, torn curtains. The walls and ceiling are just screwed on, dirty, broken. I can't say whether the heater works, the handle was hanging on a wire next to it. The bathroom... Floor-to-ceiling shower, but the floor was not curved towards the drain, so the bathroom was completely under water from the "cleaning" or previous tenant. Shower curtain... No, a normal window curtain. Mirror almost blind, toilet flushed continuously, lid always folded down, a small guest toilet sink with a crack, fittings calcified, mold and mildew, tiles on the walls are not real, curve towards the ceiling. The room smelled of incense sticks, which were probably supposed to cover up the smell of cigarettes. Another room was not available, but the caretaker came and sprayed an indefinable liquid that stank even more and left us with an apple room scent. They escaped relatively quickly and left that night. There was only a shrug of the shoulders when it came to the shortcomings that were pointed out at reception, which was just budget. On the criticism about smoking weed: Welcome to Amsterdam, that's just how it is here... Info for the Westside Inn: There are also "no drugs" tourists. It's a shame, but it didn't spoil our stay in Amsterdam, the city, the people and the atmosphere are just too beautiful
