I love Monks. I have been a couple of times, and the place is unpretentious, they'll always find a spot for you without reservations, the staff is super friendly and the coffee has a delicious, roast-y flavor. The coffee is always good, and regarding I am especially a fan of the Danish sandwich for a savoury meal (zesty, flavorful and filling) or the pancakes for something sweet (massive portions, fluffy on the inside). Good to know: they have a no-laptop policy on the weekends.

Not a good experience, I ordered flat white coffee not worth it. I usually cross by your cafe and liked the ambience and thought of trying once to sit and have a nice cup of coffee while doing some work. Unfortunately, I felt bit uncomfortable being moving around and couldn't get a good feeling. And on top of that your staff member says we are not here to comfort you didn't help much😕.

This place is fabulous. I discovered it kind of by accident and I'm so happy I did. The staff are incredibly friendly, super chatty and really interesting people too. Patrick has done a great job of hiring people who make Monks feel like a little community corner, not just a place to get coffee (the coffee is also great). Brunch on the weekends is a must. The tacos are excellent. The fresh pastries at the counter are all quite tempting too. Go, chat, relax. You might just find your new fave coffee spot.

If you are looking for a place to get a brunch or maybe just chill or even work, the environment of this coffee is perfect. The food is affordable and very tasty, you can easily customize your meal. The waiters are very friendly and welcoming. I'd recommend this place to anybody!

Best espressos / milk drinks in Amsterdam, IMO. Visited Amsterdam for 15 days. Tried a new coffee spot each morning - and ended up coming back to Monks three times toward the end because it's just the best. Also try the cinnamon bun.

The drinks were slightly on the milkier side, but quite good nonetheless. The staff is friendly, and the vibe is relaxed. It seems like a good place to sit and work; they seem to allow laptops in the back, but not the tables up front. The banana bread was excellent.

I love the quiet and chill vibe here. A lovely, spacious cafe with friendly staff! Seats are comfortable too. I enjoyed my quiche and coffee. This is such a nice place!

I thoroughly enjoyed both the food and coffee at Monks. Compliments to the chef! The staff were extremely friendly and seemed happy to be there, which is a good sign. I would highly recommend the smashed avocado. Also, the coffee felt like home.

One of my favorite coffee places for the smoothest coffee with such good pastries. I love the atmosphere, to sit and read or write or just daydream. I also go together with my 4 year old as it’s just so easy going and the people are the loveliest!

It's great coffee here, too crowded for my taste so you will not have a place to sit, food looks great (innovative), staff are doing decent job. One of my favourite places in Amsterdam.

This coffee is a very sweet place. People are friendly and very kind. We tried the veggie&cheese maffin and veggie&bacon quiche. It was all very tasty. Their coffee is pretty good too. Their kitchen is open on certain days of the week. Other days you can prefer the ready meals. I will try their breakfast later. It was a pleasant experience, thank you.

Great coffee, pastries and atmosphere Monks coffee is easy to overlook, it’s storefront hidden and hiding a large interior including a pleasant garden. Solid coffees and pastries as well as more substantial food options. Great stop over or when possible again cafe workplace.

Cute little spot for eggs Benedict and pastries with a very chill, local vibe. The eggs were served over a burger bun (vs the usual bagel/English muffin) which was an odd choice, but overall it was a good breakfast, not too big or fancy. Just what you need to start a relaxed day.

Chai latte was good, matcha latte was mediocre. The taste of matcha itself was barely noticeable. As if we were drinking pure milk :( The salad with beetroot was amazing!! Pankakes was a bit raw and toooo sweet, the two of us could only eat half of one portion.
