Terrible cruise experience. The windows were so dirty that it was impossible to enjoy the beautiful views outside, we were lucky to move from this spot before the seats got filled up. During summer there is no ventilation in this area and gets very hot. Additionally, the boat waited until it was completely full before leaving the port. This led to my family and friends getting separated, causing a great deal of frustration and inconvenience. So if one would still like to go on a cruise, ensure you are there early or just wait for a new boat to come along so you are free to choose the right seats and sit with friends/family.

To be honest, the canal cruise is not worth it! We chose Lovers Canal because we wanted to see the winter light show which was not that amazing. It was about 1 hour and 15 minutes long for the total cruise and super crowded in the boat. They packed it up with too many people. The walk from Dam square to the dock was extremely long. They had us waiting in the rain for ~10 minutes. I would recommend doing a shorter cruise or a private tour. Go in the morning, you can’t see much at night. Don’t do the winter light festival, there’s not many lights.

We come every year for a tour of the Light Festival. We were here on Saturday and our (not cheap!) tickets were not checked. The line was endless and we had to wait a total of 45 minutes before we could leave.

    Very good experience.

The overall experience was satisfactory. I had chosen the combo tickets for the canal cruise and This is Holland. While the canal boat ride was pleasant, it was quite crowded. The best spot for great pictures is at the back, but next time, I might opt for the boat experience with wine and cheese. The 60-minute ride felt uncomfortable, particularly in a crowded setting.

We really enjoyed the boat trip. It's a pleasant way to see Amsterdam from the water. The ship was well booked. We bought the tickets on site (we had to wait about 1.5 hours for the trip as everything was already fully booked). There are headphones available on the ship and the captain asked whether we wanted to sail with the roof open or closed. There should be a small toilet on the board.

The ride was fun. There were a few accidents, thankfully, nothing serious. The driver was very funny, adding to the prerecorded explanations. Unfortunately, when we booked, there were no clear instructions on what boat company we were to look for. We found it after so many hours, but thankfully, it was still running. It was very beautiful and rich in history.

Nice cruise and very informative. Buy tickets ahead of time and show up earlier than they tell you too. The boat fills up quick and you want to get on early so you can get good seats and not have to sit outside during the winter. Listen to an audio tour while you go around the canals. It was nice and worth the ticket cost.

We’ve booked a cruise for Amsterdam Lights. Boat wasn’t so full, so it was comfortable to sit and also not noisy. There was warm inside. We could use headphones, they have many variations of language. Information was interesting, a bit of history of Amsterdam. A pilot has spoken both English and Dutch, but sometimes you can’t hear properly if you’re in the back of boat. Trip was interesting, we stopped sometimes for looking at light projects.

Affordable, comfortable, glass ceiling so you have a great view, fun, I took a little longer than an hour but is enough time to go around and to see the arquitecture around the canals. We did not book online we just walked in and bought the tickets.

Nice boat trip. 19 different type of languages, welcoming staff. It is better to buy onsite since you might find other canal cruises with lower prices.

Canal Cruise is a Must Do Activity in Amsterdam in my opinion. It is a relaxing and rewarding experience from which one could view this beautiful City from its Network of waterways. We very much enjoyed our boat trip, and believe that many people do too. Hence, I am Uploading a few photos as my recommendation.

A good place to start travelling Amsterdam! The boat will set off as long as there are enough people. People are arranged not by their purchased ticket type. Nice and clean environment inside the boat with guidance of the city~

Highly recommended! Try visiting during the daytime. Expect a queue, so it's better to buy tickets in advance. It's relaxed, you can sit back and the captain will tell u facts about the culture and history of the Netherlands, it was informative, funny and entertaining plus they also give u headphones so u can listen to the audio info. in multiple languages, so that's very convenient in case u speak any other language. The cruise is very scenic.

This isn't by the central train station. They have a building across from the station so you pay...and then they tell you that you need to walk past other canal cruises to get to their boats to board. Besides that, this was a fine canal cruise. It is a fairly large boat so you are not going down any small canals. But it's a basic overview of Amsterdam. You get ear buds and select your language to hear the narration.

Took a 1 hour canal cruise for €16 and it was worth it, and the summer sun also was a blessing! The tickets can be booked online easily to avoid the hassle of queues. The captain was very skilled and funny, as he explained the sights along the way. There is of course a multi-language audio guide and they provide free earbuds that you can keep.

Do NOT ever waste your money on this ride. Sadly, my family made this mistake and we had to keep wiping the windows and with the left over drops you could hardly see a damn thing. Even the captain said "if you don't get good pictures go to Google and see how good it is". Ummmm, how about give my money back! SHAME sadly! Oh, not to mention, the audio was about 2 minutes off so it said look here or there but we were not there yet. If only they had LIVE tour guides vs. This just take our money and not care attitude. NEVER again!

Tour was ok. Did it because it was included in the IAmsterdam Card. I wouldn’t have done it without it. It’s very crammed so it’s a tight fit. Definitely don’t sit on the left side of the boat, the right side is where most attractions are.

Easy to find (we arrived by train), friendly welcome. The cruise through the canals of Amsterdam are interesting and worth seeing. A lot of interesting information is told about the individual points on the route via headphones (which you are given on the ship) - you can choose from 14 languages and regulate the volume. There is a toilet on board.

I loved the ride! The canal cruise ship takes us to almost all the famous canals and monuments for the cheapest fee. The money is worth it for the ride. When you buy a ticket from the Truism ticket office, they will give you a fare discount for all the tickets, like Palace and Heineken everywhere.

So We did this canal tour because we hadn’t reserved any others in advance. There were a few with availability but the convenience of the location and the visibility made us go with this company. We booked tickets online the day of the tour. We were the last board which means we didn’t get to really select our seats. Just what was left over. So arrive early so if you have a group you can sit together. The tour conductor/ captain was entertaining. I can’t remember his name but he was a melanated brother. We choose a basic tour and we got just that. I rained that day so the windows had droplets on them so you really couldn’t get a good view. Please we sat on the inside of the tables Nd not the outside so also all my pics have someone I don’t know in them. lol 😆 Either way the tour was good for, well, what you pay for it was about 16€. It’s a family tour so babies were in there crying making the experience that much more un-enjoyable but hey can you really be mad at a baby. 🍼 I did the 5:00pm tour (in February) so it would have been around sunset but it was over cast the whole day sooo, that’s that. lol I visited in February 22nd 2024. Next time I’d book a smaller tour with 8-10 adults and get the wine and cheese or some type of food option and no kids. But this is good, just to say you did the canal tour in Amsterdam. They provided headphones for you to listen to a recorded guided tour with some captains interaction/commentary.

The tour it's self was nice although the boats are a bit too crowded and it's almost impossible to see things on the opposite side of the boat. And if you were sitting in the middle I'm sure it would have been difficult to see any at all. The seats are uncomfortable and the earbuds they give you are really uncomfortable and hurt my ears a bit

  • 3/5 Thorben W. 3 months ago on Google • 24 reviews New
The tour of the Festival of Lights was nice, the tour was easily possible in several languages via headphones. However, it would have been nice if the windows of the ship “Berlin” had been cleaned. The most beautiful play of light is of no use if you have to admire it in the dark through veils and fingerprints. Of course you could have gone to the open part of the boat, but at -5 degrees this wasn't the solution for a better view. However, this would not be so noticeable during the day as a normal canal trip, so it is still recommended.

We have enjoyed our cruise ride. It’s a great experience to see the beautiful canal city. Seeing the beautiful houses and bridges from another angle that one may not see by walking or cycling around. Highly recommended.

We booked this cruise for 5.30pm just as the sun was setting and it was a perfect time to see Amsterdam in a bit of daylight and also the lights at nighttime. The captain was entertaining and also pointed out areas of importance. The boat was very warm and comfortable and made the experience even better in the month of January. It left from a central location and the tour was exactly an hour. I would really recommend doing this tour and with this company if you’re looking for a comfortable way to see the city from the canals.

It's rubbish, you only listen and see, but you don't know what you're looking at because the audio guide is played by the driver and he plays it whenever he feels like it.

Lovely way to spend an hour sitting down after walking non stop for 2 days. It's a closed boat, so sometimes the visibility is limited, but the captain is very good at being a tour guide!

It's too crowed, so if you are chosen them, go at last to get good view. Also if you add this canal cruises with other attraction you can get the ticket with 11.50 euro. There are many canal cruises available nearby so you can visit and choose according to your choice. It's right in front of Amsterdam central Station.

For me its a must to have a Canal Cruise Trip in Amsterdam. The City‘s main attraction aside from the legality of other things. I enjoyed the one hour ride throughout the Canals of Amsterdam, with some information from the Audio and the Captain himself.

Super friendly staff, nice clean canal boat. Tour could have been more informative as there were lots of lulls in the audio program. The scenery and route were beautiful though

Lovely canal tour with audio guide as well as a funny and informative captain. Highly recommended, because some places can only be seen from the canals, and besides, there is something special about a boat trip in beautiful Amsterdam! 🫶

As a person who always seeks out boat trips wherever I go - it was quite nice. Maybe as an introduction to Amsterdam. I recommend going around sunset so you see all the lights around the city turn on. The boat was huge and packed to the roof. That boat therefore only went through bigger canals so if you really want to enjoy the tiny houses and canals from the water perspective I recommend renting a smaller boat next.

Nice tour with a nice cruise company! Tony did a great job in telling the cruise guests interesting and funny things - additionally to the audio guide (that is available in 19 languages). Nice experience! The Dutch Venice with lots of canals and bridges. A special stop was made at a place where the view is great and unique being on the water

We took an evening cruise, it was informative lighthearted and extremely fun. The captain went above and beyond explaining and answering questions. Would definitely do it again

  • 4/5 Maksim T. 2 years ago on Google
Pretty decent for the price. Gives a good view of the city from the water. My complaints include the somewhat dirty windows which makes the viewing difficult in low lighting at night and the lack of explanation –the tour audio was sparse and somewhat unrelated to what I was seeing.

One of the best Providers in Amsterdam, it is really modern and you feel safe onboard. A lot of languages for the Audio guide are provided. It's recommend even if it is raining... Thank you and keep sailing!

  • 5/5 Robert H. 7 months ago on Google
I bought an open ticket at the cruise line dock and it needed to be turned into a time slot ticket at the canal boat dock. That was a little confusing and not explained when I purchased it. The tour itself was nice. They have earphones to plug in for multiple languages to listen along the way. The captain added English and German comments also. It was a relaxing way to see some of the city.

As there were 9 of us including 4 kids we booked in advance on the internet to be sure. We wanted the 'open boat' but you can only book that a couple of days before and it depends on the weather forecast. We tried to change on the day but it proved impossible. Also to note there are cheaper prices available once you're in Amsterdam. Otherwise the 1hr cruise is enjoyable and informative

  • 2/5 Graham D. 2 years ago on Google
Disappointed with the cruise. The boat was clean and well maintained, however the seating was woefully inadequate. Seating at the back is terrible. There is almost no view and the rear facing seats make this even worse. To top it off, the retractable roof was opened. Great for those sitting at the front. However the roof does not fully retract, so those at the back still have a roof, but now get triple glass windows obscuring the view. Would I go back? Only if I could sit at the front and facing forward. Suggestion: allow for prebooked seats. We booked ahead of time and this didn't benefit us at all.

Taking part in this trip is a perfect idea for spending your free time while in Amsterdam. The guide was charismatic and told us a few interesting facts about the canals and life in this city. During the cruise you can also enjoy a lot of picturesque views.

I gave a star only for the canal ride as canals were beautiful..apart from that it was a BIG TIME DISAPPOINTMENT as it was my birthday and my partner had booked the dinner table as the picture demonstrated only 2 people on the table but we 6 people were squeezed in the table..because of such arrangement other couple got out instantly from the ride as they were equally disappointed as us and so were many other couples..also we had booked for one meat and one fish cuisine but on the list we were arranged for vegetarian cuisine..which didn't taste up to the mark😑 after informing them about the same..they just some how waved the issue off..nobody expects this to happen on their birthday after spending so much of money by their partner!

  • 4/5 Jonathan R. 11 months ago on Google
Enjoyable cruise. The captain was excellent and added extra live commentary to the already informative audio guide. Marked down a star as I had to leave my suitcase on the dockside and the boat dropped us off at a different place so had to walk back around to pick it up, and this wasn't easy as I had to get past the chap checking tickets.

Lovely tour with beautiful sights! They also provide you with earphones to listen to an audio tour (+ you can choose the language) The boat was packed so I recommend to arrive early so you can chose your seats (mainly if you want to seat next to the window)

We were today at the 19:30 cruise with the light show. The crew is young but very friendly. A smile goes a long way you guys. The boot came on time (few minutes here or there is to expect and normal, this is a busy canal). The Capitan was friendly and spoke both English and Dutch. We were given headphones and listend to a wonderful story about the light show art and the city. There were even windshield wiper for the steam created by the warmth on the windows. All in all a nice experience. Thanks.
