👍👍 I really liked the library. Beautiful interior, modern, lots of space. Of all the libraries in the world that I have visited, this one is second only to Helsinki. Inside there is a cafe, you can drink coffee. People often mention library, floor, nice, study, work, restaurant, view, students, space, cafe,

this library is excellent, to study, work... to go to read... to have a coffee! the facilities are top notch! It is very big so there are many options to sit down, sofas, chairs, pufs ... etc. You also have free internet access, the opening hours are practically all day and the location is perfect. Definitely a place to visit

Nice public library, the ambience was facilitated and fascinating. Great thing I could use EDUROAM Wi-Fi there. The library was huge and have several places from newspaper to books, discussion area to cafe , restrooms and many more.

Absolutely amazing place! I made time to go inside one day while walking from NEMO to the Central Station and was amazed by this library. The cafe and restaurant - wow! Coffee. And wine! Also the view from the terrace is pretty amazing.

Good library, with amazing assortment of books music and DVDs. I see people reviewing restaurant (very expensive, it's not a restaurant but snack bar, only panini sweets and coffees) and architecture but no one the quality of the environment as a study place. Unfortunately it looks like more a pub then a library sometimes. Many teenagers use this place to meet up and not studying I never seen the security reprove them, floors are open to each other, you can ear clearly all the mess from the floor above, there are events almost every week with people cheering, talking to microphones loudly, as it was a gym, I don't really consider it a cultural place unless you find a quiet day when children are to school and adult to work. Worst of all it is missed a silence floor, every library in Netherlands has got one, where people can study without being disturbed. Two stars for me because it is open till 10 pm at least, I can manage my time until late evening.

The library is amazing. Many many options to sit, study or just relax. There is free Wifi and many floors packed with books about every topic. Some floors aren't yet opened or are under construction. You can enter the library for free and you don't need an ID or anything. There are also escalators and elevators.

I used to love working in this library when I was a student in Amsterdam. It is a bit noisier than libraries in the UK, but I got around that by bringing ear plugs. The restaurant on the ground floor was always very good, the cafe inside was also very nice and the view from the top is excellent

Such a nice place for studying! Sometimes too overwhelming but it’s library, right:) A lot of space, a lot of materials for different subjects! And there’s beautiful zone with town overview!

A fantastic library! I worked out of this place daily for about a month and could always find a nice spot somewhere in its 6 or 7 floors. Also has amazing views.

The lib is well stablished with an amazing view. Everything is perfectly arranged. You can find food and coffee inside and use the facilities even if you are not a member. Also it is possible to book a meeting room (with compensation) for training. Top floor restaurant is good a bit pricy if we consider that the clients of a lib are mostly students. The issue only is the parking lot which is difficult to find and is really expensive so I recommend to use public transport.

Good place to work if you want a change. They have wifi, coffee, food and the design is pretty. On the day I came, there was also live music on the ground floor to enjoy.

10-min walk from Amsterdam Central station. Clean toilets, study spaces on each floor and free Wi-Fi (need to create an account via self-own internet or public PC).

One of the upper floors offers a type of roof terrace with great views over the city. And there is a restaurant in case you want some snacks.

Nice public library with stunning view! It can get a bit busy and loud so make sure to bring noise canceling headphones or just avoid going during peak hours.

The library is free to enter, offers modern spaces, overlooking the canal, my favorite place was the terrace where you can work quietly while having a spectacular view of Amsterdam.

(English & French version below) (English and French version below) Geen stille Bieb. (It was yesterday that was announced on March 10 to 19, 3rd release) At the top, it's all about...kinderen. But it's a good idea for your children to be the best, but it's natural to have the best of your students. Het gegil, gehuil, gelach van die schattige mensjes hoor je door het hele gebouw (ook met oordopen de earphones). It's just a matter of time for your students to see what you're focusing on, and it's just a matter of time for you to be able to find out what you're looking for. Dus als je zo als mij een plek nodig hebt waar je je volledig kan focusessen zou ik triest genoeg deze mooie bieb niet aanraden. Of course, your heels don't last long in this weekend. Heel jammer dat er hier hier niet over is na gedacht door de architect, ook al vind ik de OBA heel mooie en praktisch ingedeeld voor studentsen. (Ik zou moeten studeren maar voel me geforceerd om dit te schijven). English version: Not a silent Library. (I'm here on a Saturday in March from 10 to 19, 3rd floor) A great space but... the kids. There is a space under the library dedicated for kids, though of course this is a really fun outing to do with your kids, this is quite a frustration for students. You can hear the screaming, crying, laughter of those cute little people throughout the building (even with earbuds or earphones). Often a library is a place for students who find it hard to focus at home, it is a place that should be for people who need silence. So if you are like me and need a place where you can fully focus, I would sadly not recommend this lovely library. Or perhaps, come very early and definitely not on weekends. Very unfortunate that this was not thought through by the architect, even though I think the OBA is very nice and practically laid out for students. (I should be studying but feel compelled to write this). French version: This is NOT a silent library. (I'm here on a Saturday in March from 10am to 7pm, 3rd floor) It's a great space but...kids. There is an area under the library dedicated to children, although this is a really fun outing to do with your children, it is a real frustration for the students. You can hear the screams, cries and laughter of these little people throughout the building (even with earplugs or headphones). Often a library is a place for students who have difficulty concentrating at home, it is a place that should suit many people who need silence. So if you are like me and you need a place where you can fully concentrate, I unfortunately do not recommend this beautiful library. Or, come very early and especially not on the weekend. It's a shame that the architect didn't think of this, even though I think the OBA is very beautiful and conveniently designed for students. (I should be studying but I feel compelled to write this).

Just perfect place in the heart of the city for learning, preparing for exams, read or just chill. Spectacular view from the top, clear and transparent space, truly a library.

One of the best OBA branches in Amsterdam with this beautiful view of the city from the 7th floor. The only problem is that it is not a quiet place at all!

Superb Saturday, the library open to the public, crowded at 3 p.m.

Beautiful public library, very well stocked across with books, audio and video resources across multiple genres and languages. Although a majority of their collection is in Dutch, they do stock items in English and other languages. Their online catalog and reserve service is terrific! And they also have a theatre for documentaries + cafe on 7th floor with beautiful views of the city (with an outside seating area). Separate section for kids in below ground floor- it's really cute!

Great place and atmosphere. The only bad thing is that wifi does not work :( you can get a library card online to borrow books.

Potentially a nice library, but too loud. Would be nice to have quiet sections, and let the noisy kidy/teenagers sit on lower floors instead.

Beautiful library with a lot of space to study and tons of books. The kids section is very nice too with also a cosy big reading area. At the top floor there is also a cafe and restaurant with a terrace. From there you can admire the view over the city of Amsterdam. Only negative point: I have heard that it's not safe to go study there alone, someone should always come with you to watch your things while you are in the bathroom.

It’s more than just a public library! There’s a cafe and a section for kids to read and play. You just have to grab a good spot and sit there to read, study or work. There’s pin drop silence and it makes for a great atmosphere to focus and do quality work. OBA also has a good collection of books in English. It’s definitely a must-visit!

Huge library, on several floors, with a minimal air, very tidy and illuminated. A perfect place to go to read or study, but without straying too far from the center, where you can take a leap just finished. Very appreciated

Well, it's really good Library but it's not what I expected. I was expecting something historical, but it's modern and nice

Beautiful place. IMHO they should do something about people that don't know how to behave at a library. At least signs on the walls with the rules.

Gorgeous public establishment! I’m ashamed to admit, but while walking around the city, I came in looking for a toilet and hung out for about two hours. At the entrance, no one even asked who I was or where I was going... And I found a toilet in a rich bright green color and beautifully illustrated Vermeer albums, all of which were looked at on the shelves :)
