A deceptively large family run hotel, very nicely placed for discovering the streets and canals. Stairs are quite steep, not ideal for the aged and unfit but my general feeling is that it's well run and very clean. A+

Booked a family room between Christmas and New year and had a fabulous time. Room was huge with stunning furniture and amazing canal view. The bathroom was huge as well and yes the stairs are steep but that really adds to the charm of the building. Cozy lounge for when it was raining and free hot drinks were a bonus. The breakfast was good but the dining was crowded at times but the views from your table are nice and the food good. The location is good with easy access to trams with the main station only a few stops away. Ideal for shopping with only a short walk to the main and niche shopping areas. When the family returns to the city definitely looking at booking again

Stayed for 3 nights and the location is perfect - walking distance to everything in the city centre. The staff were excellent and the breakfast nice. Just be mindful that this is an old building with no lift and quite steep stairs. The only complaint I have is the shower had very intermittent hot water, possibly due to the age of the building. It was still a very pleasant stay.

Staff very helpful and friendly. Loved the classic decor and historic building. Nice bright breakfast room w amazing views. Our room had a nice balcony looking down on the quiet canal activity including boats, cyclists and pedestrians. Great central location. Short scenic walking distance to all attractions and direct bus to and from Airport. Recommended.

Older two star hotel in a nice location close to the city center. I like their communal facilities such as the breakfast hall. In contrast, the rooms are clean, yet small and dated. Perfect for a quick night of sleep at a decent price, but don't expect a luxury experience.

The hotel staff went above and beyond to help us out, from finding a space for us to assemble our large tandem bicycle to offering tools, storage and support before we took off on a long tour through Europe. Breakfast was excellent. Room was comfortable and clean. Walkable to many parks, museums and restaurants. Definitely stay here!! The staff will make you feel so welcome!

Nice place to stay in Amsterdam. Beware, no elevator and the stairs are really verticals. Notice also that Rooms are not cleaned during your stay and laundry not cleaned, unless you stay more than a week. Situation is excellent Almost all places to visit in Amsterdam can be reached by walk in less than 30 minutes.

The Wiechman was a fab experience for us. So close to the city centre. Zero hospitality, but beautiful views of the canals and local life. The suits of armour and other quirks made it an interesting experience..

This a thifty hotel right in the tourist area. Older, but well maintained and very clean. The stairs to the rooms are very narrow and steep. No elevator. It's what we could afford as rooms are expensive in the canal area. Friendly staff, English spoken.

I understand the reasons; but not having an elevator is a real issue for some. Other than that, absolutely lovely, and the best coffee!

Free coffee and tea all day. Counter staff actually are amazing with identification of local transportation and services.

A no frills hotel but has everything that you need. It's in a great location for sightseeing in Amsterdam. The bedroom was a good size with a super comfortable bed and a modern bathroom. The continental buffet breakfast was very good too offering a good selection of foods.

Booked small single room and was exactly as represented, including that it's small and stairs are very steep and will require going up and down with care, particularly with luggage. Staff were always helpful, continental breakfast was excellent. Location was excellent with 5-10 minute walk to bus/train/tram. Finally, many accommodation places don't have air-conditioning but fortunately on the two hot days in early September '23, there was a good fan in the room that at least kept the air circulating.

This is such a quaint and lovely hotel. We really appreciated having breakfast included and the location was perfect for what we needed. Only negative is the steep stairs which were a struggle with luggage but day to day you managed fine. The shower was also kind of dirty around the edges, but the room itself was perfect for us. Would HIGHLY recommend staying here.

If paying for a canal view room, don't accept room 343. On the web site the pictures for the double with canal view looks nothing like 343. Sure, you can see the canal but only when standing at the window. The room is in the attic with small windows, not full length ones. From the bed and the sitting chair's you cant see the canal. I paid for the view and feel short changed. That said the hotel itself was good. Really nice staff. Fantastic location. Good breakfast. Comfortable bed. Good WiFi. Besides my view issue, the room was good for a 2 star hotel. It's true what other reviewers say about the stairs...yikes.

A lovely hotel in a great location - situated in the Prinsengracht area of Dam and right on the main Prinsengracht canal. Older-style decor and extremely steep staircases (no elevator, plus watch your heads if you’re taller!) but very welcoming, cosy and perfect for our short 4-night stay during Pride weekend. Clean, quiet rooms, very friendly and helpful staff and free, unlimited delicious coffee. The breakfast was a good selection of continental style dishes, there is something for everyone. Will definitely stay here again when returning to Amsterdam. *15 minute walk to Dam Square *5 minute walk to the nearest tram stop (Koningsplein) *several pubs, cafes and shops in the direct vicinity

Great location on the canal! Quiet and fabulous free breakfast. The room was nice and the beds comfortable( we had two twins) The shower doesnt stay warm it goes from cold to hot. They have a fabulous lounge to relax with free coffee and teas and cookies. Wendy is fabulous at the reception desk and helped us for whatever we wanted. The receptionist at night however is in the phone most of the time and on speaker so difficult to relax in the lounge. She also need a bit of training regarding direction of places as she name them differently than what is written on signs. We would totally be back. Advise, steep staircases.

"Fantastic hotel. Perfectly located. Having breakfast included in the price is great, and the breakfast was delicious. The only issue with the hotel is the lack of an elevator; the stairs are extremely steep. We stayed on the 4th floor, so it was a bit challenging."

Overpriced for the quality and service. We're on day 4 of a 5 day stay and our room has yet to be cleaned. I had to take the trash downstairs myself and get new towels from the front desk. When I asked about cleaning the room, I was told by the staff that the hotel is really busy and they don't have time. Even after 4 days. We were also told at booking that we could store a grocery bag in the hotel fridge as a member of my family has dietary issues. When we tried to do this, we were subjected to a tirade by a staff member that even the staff isn't allowed to do this. (Notably, the staff isn't paying $300 a night.) This is basically a hostel masquerading as a hotel.

The hotel is located in the centre of Amsterdam, you can easily reach all the points of major interest. At the lobby everyone is friendly and really kind. I had a short but very pleasant stay in Wiechmann Hotel. The breakfast is super. I hope to be back again soon. Thank you all!

This is the only place I’ll ever stay in Amsterdam! Basic Charm with potential for love and magic, folk rock history, rooms with views, perfect location, delish breakfast spread, Chaos Cafe and Tapas bar around the corner. Better book early!

Clean and good place. Staff is very worm and happy. Room are clean and breakfast is simple but fresh. The location of the hotel is good. Nor far from Dam square. Plaese consider steep stairs and not easy to climb with suitcases.

The hotel is very nice and vintage, as I like. We had a splendid view & the room was very cosy and bright. We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is 10-15 minutes away from the city center, it's just great! Even if the breakfast was good all week, I think a diversified menu can be a good idea for the people who stay more than 2 days at the hotel.

Lovely hotel and friendly staff, stairs to rooms could be a problem, although tea ,coffee n hot chocolate are free downstairs its a bit of a grind going down 3 flights of stairs to get a brew ,other than that foods great and location is superb everywhere is in walking distance, would highly recommend it

Absolutely the best location for seeing and walking to all the best places in Amsterdam. The views are spectacular and the hotel was very clean and staff were so helpful. Our room was a little small but we weren't in it much so it was fine. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.

I needed a new hotel to stay in Amsterdam last minute and knew this was in a great location. I also knew there were stairs (walking up no problem to me), but when I got there I had expected they would help getting the bags up and down the stairs. I currently have back and neck issues and when I got there helping bags up the stairs was a hard hard no. I had to leave without checking in and there was no option for even a partial refund. Don't think for $200+ a night thats an unfair expectation.

Great location! Friendly, engaging staff. Delicious Dutch breakfast. Would definitely stay here again. No elevator but you typically don't have one in Amsterdam.

We waited over 3 years to enjoy this trip and would highly recommend the Wiechmann. The Building has a lot of history it being a family run business for several generations, the staff are very friendly with a great sense of humour, the breakfast is very high standard and the views are a photographer's dream. We aim to return most definitely as we couldn't fault the place and it ticked all the boxes for us, solid 10/10

Ideally located Hôtel, close to the wonderful Jordaan's District of Amsterdam and nearby the City center, Centrum. Straight from the Wiechmann's Hôtel entrance, you can visit almost every key places of Amsterdam by walk, from the whole Museumplein to Kalverstraat, crossing into Albert Cuypmarkt and Bloemenmarkt by detour, walking down alongside Amsterdam's well-known and beautiful canals to the hidden historical Hofjes in the Jordaan area, while having in the meantime typical Dutch dishes such as Stampoots, Olliebollen or even Poffertjes, for example. The Management of the Hotel is passed down from one generation to the next for already decades (or even centuries). Therefore involving an inherited everlasting charm and preserving its old splendour style (furnishings and architecture), which is typically representative of Amsterdam's unique architecture. The staff of the Hôtel is very open-minded and welcoming. Rooms are great, clean, large and calm, do include safety deposit boxes, mirrors, an air-conditioned bathroom, many towels, great mattresses, curtains, and basically everything you need. Large luggage can be secured left to the staff at the reception if needed. The dining room is beautiful and provides a great overview of Amsterdam's canals. Breakfasts are generous and delicious, filling you perfectly for a good morning starting tour in Amsterdam. There's a reception room in the Hôtel, where you can grab a coffee, enjoy a Rooibos tea cup, or eat few Stropwaffels. I recommend ✅
