We stayed at the Grand Californian on a Saturday night with a pool view room. I used the Disneyland app to do online check in (which they suggested 5+ times via emails prior to our visit) and though the room was supposed to be available at 3pm it wasn't available until 4:30PM! In addition, we had to wait in line at the check in desk because the Disneyland app doesn't function correctly and wouldn't assign us a room. The staff was fine but they didn't offer ANYTHING for their app malfunctioning, our room not being ready on time, or getting skipped in line multiple times at check in - they didn't seem to care. Once we FINALLY were able to get to our room, we were told our bags would be delivered within 30 minutes. It took them almost an hour to deliver the bags - they wasted almost 3+ hours of our time, when we could've spent enjoying the parks. The room was just OK, the comforter looked super old and definitely needed to be replaced. We had a refrigerator in the room but it didn't work, it wasn't even cold. For a price point of $1,000 per night, this hotel is an absolute joke. The only positive of the Grand Californian was the valet staff, they were absolutely fantastic.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff who took all of our bags and car seats for us. We were checked in by staff who matched our excitement to be there, and off to the room we went. We entered our 3rd floor room to find a very clean and tidy space. The washroom was very clean and the dual head shower was amazing. We had a group of 5 and never ran out of hot water. We called down and had our luggage brought up to us, and it promptly arrived by yet another friendly face. The Grand lobby is a place of beauty. A fine place to meet your group or recover from a long day's park hopping. As far as the amenities, we didn't utilize the pool, gym or spa, but we did dine at all the available eateries at the hotel. The food was very adequate and drinks were easily attainable and very drinkable. Access to the parks was a breeze from the hotel and we will definitely be staying here for all future park visits. The only CON for us was that they only clean your room every other day, and they never made the bed or changed the linens for our entire 5 night stay. Linens were available upon request, but that's not the kind of thing I'm used to when paying a premium for a "luxury" hotel stay

It was our first time staying at a Disney hotel.. we liked the convenience of being so close to the park and having the entrance to downtown Disney. The room was nice, had a great view and was comfortable. However, like most others are saying, service moves slowly here. I'm guessing because of staffing issues. Check in took a long time, getting our baggage took a long time (we were told 10 minutes.. probably took about 30). Still on hold for room service. I'd like to come back when they're staffed better and I'm sure the service would be amazing. Gave 4 stars just for the convenience of the location and room.

Great location, super convenient entry into California Adventure. Was disappointed on two aspects of our stay. We were initially in room 5021, and found out why the room was ready 4 hours early. This room is located directly below the "Veranda" which is open from 6am to 10pm to top tier paying guests (we didn't know about this option). They begin moving furniture in the morning at 6am and at 10 pm to set-up/take-down their patio. This was not what we were expecting, it was really loud in our room and hard to sleep. They moved us to another room and claimed it was an upgrade because it had a partial view of the park (very small), Mostly we could see the monorail. Secondly, the waterslide in the pool area was closed for renovation. The only reason we stayed at this hotel was because my daughter saw the pool on our last trip (we stayed at Paradise pier) and wanted to use the pool there. The slide was closed without warning including the pool near it. This was really disappointing to my daughter. We had a great time at both parks, so that made up for it, but generally would have expected more from a hotel at this price point.

Direct access to California Adventure Park from the hotel courtyard is a huge bonus. Disneyland access is through Downtown Disney 5 minutes away. The rooms are serviceable but, don't match the price. The bath towels need to be retired to a motel. I understand COVID is still a reality but they need to return to real glassware and ditch the plastic cups wrapped in plastic.. There also needs to be a place to access fresh water from a tap instead of buying bottled water. We all slept relatively well on the 2 beds and the balcony was a wonderful place to get some fresh air and admire the lights of the Park.

Ridiculously expensive and hard to find a basic breakfast, but much to enjoy. The room is clean and comfortable, and the hotel provides turndown service with chocolates on the pillow. Our room is about 1/4 mile from the nearest elevator. Every employee is friendly and extremely helpful. I'm glad we did it once but probably won't make a habit of staying here when we visit.

It was a wonderful, magical experience for my grandchildren. We did wish they provided a simple courtesy coffee/tea station in the lobby, as we have become accustomed to in most hotels. As an early awake grandma, I did not want to wake the kids, so I would dress quietly and head to the lobby to read or rock in front of the fire. But no cafes were open, so I had to hike out through the property and across Disneyland Dr. to buy hot chocolate at Paradise Pier. (No option for tea there.). Would be so simple to add a simply coffee and tea station.

This was a bucket list item of mine so when the stars aligned and I could afford a room here, I was stoked. The location can’t be beat - and it allowed my kids to come and go independently with ease. Staff were overall friendly, especially the bellhops who were hands down the nicest staff we encountered on our trip. The downside was definitely the dated rooms. Our wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling and I don’t think the rooms have been updated since the hotel opened. It was great to stay here once, but I honestly think Disneyland Hotel has better (or at least, equivalent) rooms for much more affordable prices and just a little more walking.

These are 5-star hotel prices for 4-star quality. The rooms are much like you’d find in any standard Marriott or similar chain. I expected a lot more from the extraordinary price point. We had to run the shower every day for 15+ minutes to get the water warm. There was a stain on the sofa. For $700 a night, I shouldn’t be reporting that. The best part of the hotel is the friendly service and of course the proximity to the park. The location is what you’re paying for. If you’re willing to pay Four Seasons prices for a generic room just for the convenience, it’s worth it. I would *probably* stay again just knowing my expectations should be lower.

The Grand Californian is an absolutely stunning hotel. The decor and theming instantly transport you into the redwood forests with its craftsman design. Everything from the chandeliers in the lobby to the wallpaper in the bathroom feels meticulously chosen. Fans of finding “Hidden Mickeys” will have a field day in this hotel as there are many throughout the property and rooms. The staff is extremely hospitable and accommodating, even when we lost our valet ticket at checkout. Everyone was super friendly, from the valet attendants to the concierge and even the security guards manning the gates to Downtown Disney. Speaking of, this hotel has plenty of amenities. Something like four pools, some for kids and a hot tub for the adults. As mentioned, the direct access to the middle of Downtown Disney and also direct access to Disney’s California Adventure park. Hotel guests even get to enter the park 30 minutes early! All in all, our family had an excellent stay. The grounds are beautiful, the design, architecture, and decor of the hotel are exquisite, and the amenities make the price worthwhile. Highly recommend for a Disneyland trip.

Great hotel. We had a room directly above the monorail which was really cool to see while hanging on the balcony. The staff were attentive and very nice. Unfortunately due to covid daily housekeeping is still not in effect but I believe that is the norm within the industry at the moment. It was my first time visiting Disneyland so the simplicity of walking out of the hotel and into the park was great. Loved watching the band playing the lobby during the evenings as well.

I mean, what's not to love about this place? Admittedly we didn't stay here overnight. We enjoyed a morning here because we had tickets to the Disney Princess Breakfast Adventure. From beginning to end we had fabulous service and it definitely made us want to check out the hotel and consider it for our next trip. The valet was friendly and quick to help us out of our vehicle and give us directions to the breakfast location. The atmosphere of the hotel is beautiful - spacious, bright and warm/comforting. There are a few shops in the large lobby area to check out. And then the character dining restaurants are located just past the outdoor pool area. We had the most amazing time at the Disney Princess Breakfast Adventure. We seriously can't recommend this enough. The service was phenomenal, the food was so delicious, and meeting the different princess characters was just so fun. It is a MUST DO for kiddos and adults alike. Our servers name was Brooke and she was incredible, so I just wanted to give her a shout-out. She gave us suggestions on drink orders, was really detailed in explaining all the different beautiful food that was brought out to us, and made sure to tell us when different princesses were leaving/coming so that we could catch a moment with them all. If you have the Disney Genie+ photo pass perk with your theme park tickets, there are several photo spots/opportunities with the princesses as well. You can take photos with your own cell/camera, but there is the option of the professional ones as well.

My family and I had a great time! We’ve been to Disney world in Orlando, but this was the first time at Disneyland. And we stayed at the Grand Californian. Upon us checking in the bell hop got our bags and took them away. She was very nice. We checked into the hotel and they gave us so much information about everything, it was perfect! We got to our room and it was good. Over looking California Adventure. We went on the balcony and just the ambiance was great! And the balcony door was sound proof! So that was a plus! I we left and came back and our beds were remade! I swear they cleaned our room like 3 times in one day. It’s was good! The down side I would say were the Mickey Waffles!!!!!!! We ordered room service for breakfast and it was a total fail! They were not good. Not sure if they were like whole grain or something, but they were not good at all! (Floridas Mickey waffles way better). All in all a good trip! Gonna try and stay at the Disneyland Hotel next time.

We are regulars here and you can't beat the Grand Californian! Our party was doing 21 Royal and they upgraded us to concierge level. This included the Veranda and was an amazing experience. 4 different rounds of food and drinks available throughout the day as well as grab and go items. Will be well worth the $500 a day for our next visit. My family had a great time including 2 kids who will never forget it!

This was the best experience I've ever had staying on Disney property. Customer service was top notch. The rooms were comfortable and very clean. We haven't traveled since before covid and this trip reassured us that Disney is making cleanliness a priority. The cherry on top, was being able to walk out of the hotel and directly into California Adventures. Enjoying the parks with a 6 year old and an 8 month old, staying on property made it easy to go back and forth into the parks when my kids got tired. The Storytellers cafe buffet was great. It was a little pricey even though there were no characters walking around, but the service was excellent and the quality of food was great. Overall, I will never stay anywhere but on property when visiting any Disney park. It's worth the price for the convenience and customer service offered by the parks.

Only issue we had was check in. Getting there by car we wanted to self park and I felt like the staff was pushing for valet parking. Otherwise we had a great experience. We didn't even know that the resort had its own entrance to California adventure! It was easy for us to take a break part way through the day when we were at that park. Room was nice and clean and plenty of space.

We went for the Princess Breakfast/Brunch. This is a really beautiful location. The space is big, the decor and architecture breathtaking really. The attention to detail, the warmth of the wood and the details are amazing. The food and the experience the staff provided are bar none. We had a multi-course meal - every course was delicious. Our daughter especially enjoyed the princesses there - she met every last one and couldn't have been happier.

Amazing food, even better service! Staff was friendly and extremely helpful after a stressful and very long 12 hours with two little ones in an airport they helped us get a room immediately so we can sleep. It's a little pricey but worth every penny. So Convenient to be able to enter the park from hotel and have every issue amenity at your finger tips. Definitely doing it again.

Great place to stay for work as well as play. The theme is a bit dated for my choice. Rooms are well maintained, but a bit depressing. Not a problem if you’re coming with your family and will stay out in theme parks for most of the day. Huge negative is lack of bidet in toilets. One has to use less hygienic and environmentally unfriendly papers to clean up after the deed! One great plus point is that they have food service to room. You can get basic snacks and drinks at almost all hours. You also have limited lunch and dinner if you need to have that in a pinch. I mean, that’s surprisingly amazing considering that’s mostly unheard of in American setting.

This hotel is perfect in every way! If you're looking for a spot that makes it quick and easy to get into the park or to come back midday, this is your hotel. If you're looking for a hotel that has a lobby and fireplace that is beautiful and relaxing for some downtime, this is your hotel. If you're looking for great food and drink options in property, this is your hotel. And it goes without saying the service is great and the rooms are lovely. This is always our #1 choice of hotels when going to Disneyland!

The absolute best place to stay for your Disneyland vacation .We had a beautiful stay here. This hotel has such a warm atmosphere while being gorgeously themed. We love how easy it is to pop back to the resort Smiles, laughter, and informative cast members are truly giving the best experience ever. Highly recommend the Grand Californian!

The employees I encountered were very friendly and kind. The room was nothing special, the food was very overpriced. It's a dizzying design and is quite a treck to anywhere due to its size. While checking in, it took over an hour to get my room, which was difficult due to having small children in our group. The location to the parks is nice but I prefer Pixar across the street.

Great fun had by all, everyone super friendly. the rooms needed to be check for any maintenance more often our toilet was broken but they fixed it pretty quick. disney of course was packed but still was fun....if you're handicapped even when you wait your turn you have to wait longer then any guest for some reason we get pushed to the side and a few times felt forgotten

My husband and I stayed at this resort for our 15th anniversary this past weekend for the very first time. We booked a regular room over looking downtown Disney. The room was nice and very clean! On our first night we were startled awake around 2:30am to some emergency work/construction. We weren’t sure what it was, but it was very very loud for a few hours. We contacted the desk and they didn’t know what was happening but said they would have a manager contact us. The next day we were contacted by the manager Joshua. He was very kind and let us change our room so we could rest and have quiet. He went out of his way to get us a suite that was absolutely amazing and he gifted us complimentary tickets to the sold out sweethearts night that was happening that night. Very top notch service and we are very thankful for the kindness and generosity shown to us!!! Thank you Joshua- I hope you see this! You made our anniversary so memorable and special. We appreciate you and will always remember this trip!

we had someone in our party get sick, and the hotel was able to accommodate us for another night even though we did not originally have this booked. they provided us with everything we needed free of charge, and even gave us a free stuffed animal to help. Joshua Lay (head concierge) was fantastic to us, and so helpful. highly recommend

We had a wonderful stay. The security guards are very friendly and nice! I talked to one of them and he asked me “are you ready to have the most greatest most magical day ever?” Too bad it was the day I had to leave the vacation so I said “oh we’re leaving” and he said in a joking way “aw was it something I said?” This was very funny. I wish I said we had a great time, because we did, but I was too sad about leaving haha. But I had a great conversation and interaction with these cast members, especially that security guard. The hotel itself was great. I loved my sofa bed and the shower was amazing. Had a great view of the monorail and saw the big pretty Christmas tree. This hotel is great and the cast members have good qualities. Definitely recommend :)

For a hotel costing over $800 a night you would expect at least decent customer service. The fact that you would see bad reviews with the manager not responding tells you that this hotel could care less. Here is my experience: My partner unfortunately had a rupture of his PCL (a ligament of the knee), preventing him from ambulating for more than a few blocks. So because of this, he received a handicap placard. There are handicap spots right next to the hotel that is clearly labeled handicap, but there was this parking attendant at around 9 pm on 6/23/23 that had a beard and was chubby/fat who yelled at us saying that he would tow our car if we parked there because that was only for valet customers. There are no signage anywhere stating that the spot is only for valet customers or if there is a time limit. In addition to that, we told him our condition and he stated that if you are handicap and can’t walk, you would need to pay the valet parking fee of $30 more per day as opposed to the self parking fee. This is discrimination! The fact that all handicap people would need to pay more to park and pay tip of parking attendants is wrong. I Hope management would read this and do something about this discriminatory policy. I’m reporting this to the ADA

I've stayed here every year for fifteen years, and wouldn not stay anywhere else! Top notch service, very clean, and extremely friendly staff. Everyone bends over backwards to make my stay extra special. From the concierge to housekeeping to bell service, everyone at the Grand Californian works as a team to keep me coming back.

Service was excellent, every staff from the lobby, to the front desk, to the housekeeping, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Location is PERFECT, will never recommend anywhere else. Rooms are dated, and does not have the luxury feel. However, for the service and location, I will be back.

My stay at the Disney Grand Hotel in California was truly enchanting. The attention to detail and exceptional service provided by the staff made me feel like a valued guest throughout my visit. The luxurious accommodations and convenient proximity to the theme parks added to the overall experience. Despite the higher price, the immersive atmosphere and unforgettable moments make the Disney Grand Hotel a worthwhile choice for those seeking a truly magical stay. The Disney Grand Hotel CA offers a range of amenities, including multiple pools, direct access to both Disneyland and Disney Adventure parks, convenient laundry service, and on-site laundry facilities, among other features. While guests at the Disney Grand Hotel CA do receive early access to the park, it is important to note that all guests are granted the same privilege, resulting in potentially long lines. This is worth considering if you have any scheduled appointments. Additionally, we encountered some challenges navigating the entrance crowd and the general entrance rope when entering the park early. We later discovered an alternative route, but the initial frustration of figuring it out was notable. The hotel room at the Disney Grand Hotel CA is fairly average in terms of decor. The beds were comfy and everyone slept very well. While there are some Disney-themed artworks, they may not necessarily leave guests in awe. Additionally, the bathroom in the room is quite small and serves as the only private space available. This posed a slight challenge for our family, as we had booked a room with a double bed, leaving me, as the only female in the group, with limited space for changing in the tiny bathroom. Overall, I would definitely choose to book here again in the future!

We had the best experience with one exception. When checking out we had to take our own luggage by hand because guests are not allowed to use carts but have to wait on personnel. We did not have the 45 minutes to wait for them to pick up our luggage. Everything else about our stay was excellent! Friendly staff, love the proximity to each parks, our toddler had the best time. Would highly recommend!

Disney's Grand Californian is an incredible place to stay. From the second you walk in you are met with Disney excellence. The entrance reminds me of the wilderness Lodge in Florida. The beauty here is the proximity to the parks. And to downtown Disney. It is so incredible to me that you can be in either park or downtown Disney within 5 or 10 minutes. This is the beauty of this hotel. The rooms are great. The beds were very comfortable and the blankets were warm. The fire in the main area was outstanding. The swimming pools were awesome. I will say that when you get out of the water it is a little bit colder than when you're in Florida because there's no humidity. The service was excellent. We will definitely be back for another visit.

First I want to say that my wife and I usually come here every 3-6 months for a quick getaway. We always stay at this hotel and have never had a problem before this trip. We stayed in a basic room this time, (usually we stay in a room with the woods court view), and it was a nightmare. As we got into our room we had a view of the pool, which was a nice view considering we could have gotten a room with a parking lot view. So first nice view, second if you book this hotel DO NOT stay in room 1513, We are in this room and the noise from whatever is behind us is unbelievable and loud. We requested to switch rooms and we were denied. There is so much banging and slamming of things that we have no idea what’s back there. Our bed is on the wall so every time they slam stuff your bed moves and rocks. We are so disappointed in this trip and especially this room. This room you will not get any rest whatsoever. After a long day and night in the park the last thing we wanted to do was to come back to a room that sounds like a battlefield behind us. Disney please do the right thing and make this right for us.

Beautiful resort ! I can’t say enough about the wonderful experience we had here. It was our first trip to Disneyland and we stayed club level…AMAZING! Every single cast member we encountered was so friendly and accommodating. The location is perfect with quick access to the parks. The pool is wonderful and my son loved the water slide. The fitness center has a variety of equipment and is very clean. We had a great trip here and would absolutely stay here again!

The Grand Californian is an absolutely stunning hotel. From the moment you walk in, it's like walking into a fairytale lodge with children and happy families running around everywhere. The staff is super attentive and helpful, always with a smile on their face. The rooms are well decorated, clean, and comfortable. Again, the staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay is wonderful from little chocolates on the pillows to nightly turn down service.

5 stars for the experience.... It's definitely not the nicest hotel aesthetically. However, my kids loved looking for all the hidden Mickey's throughout the property. Where it really earns 5 stars is for location and magic morning's! You can not beat having Disneyland to yourselves. The food is wonderful... overall, I highly recommend for a Disneyland vacation.

One of the most amazing experiences I've had in my entire life staying at this hotel. The price is a little off-pudding but if you have the means and ability to stay a few nights then by all means treat yourself and your family. The location right off the amusement park is amazing and offers some exceptional offerings. I know a vast majority of the photos that I posted were from Disneyland in California adventure but thought I would share anyhow

The best part about the Grand Californian were the people that worked there. Each team member we interacted with made the experience better. We live in Southern California so we could have chosen to visit the parks without staying overnight, but I am glad we did. There were seven in our party and the total cost for two days and two nights worked out to $1300 per person, but it was worth it, especially: 1) help and guidance from the staff who were all knowledgeable 2) early access to the the parks 3) direct access to the parks and downtown Disney throughout the day.

This is a very beautiful hotel. Very classic. Very close to the two parks. The hotel can get in to California adventures directly. I enjoy the piano performance at the lobby and the the pool area are clean with great services. We and the kids both have fun and enjoy the time there. We were there to celebrate my daughter's birthday and the front desk prepare a BD card with my daughter's favorite princess signature on it. We really enjoy the experience there and will definitely go back again.

You pay for the location which was a huge plus for us, family with young kids and elderly. I would repeat this hotel again for the location. Easy access to the disney downtown, a nice place to spend evenings and take a stroll at night after dinner. Walking distance from the two parks. Making it easier to come back to the hotel for a bit of rest and then head back up. The pool area in the hotel was a great place to spend an evening as well. Above is pretty much the only good thing about this hotel at this price. Everything else was below value for money. Food, rooms, service, etc. This hotel can be so much more if only Disney paid more attention to the hotel part of it.

Disney’s Grand California Hotel is awesome and we loved our stay! We traveled with our son, daughter-in-law and their three kids. We had a suite that had two rooms with a shared living room area. It was the perfect setup for us. We opted to pay extra for the concierge dining area located on the 6th floor and it was well worth the extra money! We used it for breakfast almost every day and several times for lunch or dinner and snacks! The pool was awesome for the kids and when we needed some downtime. I probably would have given the hotel a 4.5 as it does need to update some of its services for that extra Disney magic touch! The access into the park is amazing!

  • 5/5 Victor J. 1 year ago on Google
Wow, what a hotel! The staff were as friendly and helpful as what you would expect inside Disneyland. It was hands-down the best location to get into Disneyland or California Adventure. When entering the hotel, you are greeted with a lobby befitting of "Grand" in the hotel's namesake. The ceiling reaches all the way up the 6 floors of the hotel and there is a fantastically talented pianist playing a medley of Disney songs that immediately put you in the Disney vacation mood. Even if there were less than the 4 elevators that could take you to your floor, the elevators are quick so you are not waiting long to travel between your for and the lobby. The only constructive feedback I have of the room is that the bathroom is a little tight to navigate because of the well-sized shower door. Nevertheless, the beds are super comfortable and provide good rejuvenation whether your sleeping through the night or taking a small nap in a break from the parks. I highly recommend Disney's Grand California Hotel!
