Love the Turnagain Arm Trail from this point, it’s close to Anchorage and quickly gets you up above the road for very Alaskan views. There are vault toilets on site. We spotted dall sheep from the trail this time and have crossed baths with hare and black bear in the past. Parking is $5 (card & cash accepted), Alaska State Parks annual pass holders park for no additional fees.

Great hiking! Clean Picnic Area Awesome Views...Gate closes at 9 pm but you can park in the lower lot and walk up and if you are quiet you will see the moose and possibly some black bear.... The old charcoal grills are being removed.Recommend you bring your own portable gas or charcoal grill

Always a beautiful spot and small creek waterfall. Just hearing the water roar is so relaxing. Light Breezy day to keep bugs at bay

For our first trip to Alaska, this was an incredible stop. The beauty from the ocean and snow-capped mountains on one side and the waterfalls, creek, and hiking area on the other was amazing. The wind here is strong, so bring a jacket and beanie to stay warm!

Absolutely stunning scenery! The trails are well-kept and are perfect for beginner hikers. This is a must-visit location for all out of state visitors. FYI: There is a $5 day parking fee.

Beautiful pit stop on your way to Girdwood. Whether you're looking for a quick scenic stroll or a longer trek on the trails, this stop is a must. On site host does an amazing just of keeping this place clean, maintained and yet still wild! Also a great place to paint, bring your dog, and slash around.

This place is absolutely incredible. I've been here in the summer, fall, and winter and it is so spectacular to see no matter what time of year. I have yet to have a picnic here but that's pretty high on the list once spring rolls around. I would definitely recommend this place as a sight seeing stop for anyone visiting Anchorage...

Excellent lichens. All of Chugach State Park has good lichens, including McHugh Creek area. Open your eyes and you'll find some real gems here.

Beautiful location to spend time outside. The creek is nearby and there are picnic tables and a pavilion for use. Watch out for bears when you go!
