It is said that the Perge Theatre was perge theatre was built between 70 AD and the middle of the 2nd century AD. Under the Roman Emperor Septimius Severus (193-211 AD) the orchestra was converted into an arena. It was in the midst of getting restored but nevertheless, it was a brilliant place to visit. The cost of entry was a bit high and the visitors were leaving back drinks and food on the stairs littering all over the place. Introducing some kind of policing to keep the place clean would definitely help.

Truly amazing must see site that seems to go on forever - gives you a good idea of what a large city state was like - able to discern the different time periods by the styles of buildings/ architecture that were used - get to see the architecture that was built to impress such as the good half mile long columned thoroughfare and the engineering to transport the water from the top of the hill down - the excavations/restoration continues so this will only get better ( last pic shows that the stone was clad in a white marble which would have made this look even more impressive in it's heyday) NB = if possible pay a trip to antalya museum first to see all the magnificent statues that were excavated from the site

History meets modern days. A place must visit for people traveling to Antalya. A place where you can see beautiful relics of Roman empire. The place is quaint and takes back you to roman ages. A little far from Antalya. But the travel to this place is equally awesome

Most remarkable historic site in Anatolia where civilisation flourished beginning from 530 BC. Amazing sculpture and stone masonry is practiced with master sculptors. Amazing amphitheater, fantastic hipodrome and a perfect settlement plan including an early church in the region.

Perge theater and the surrounding city were amazing, definitely worth the 50tl. It’s a vast city with a lot of history, worth walking around and reading about it. There were many columns still standing as well. The theater isn’t as preserved as the Aspendos theater but it was still beautiful.

Beautiful hidden gem kept away from tourists. Most bus tours skip this place. We were by ourselves in the amphitheatre and had fun singing and making mock speeches. The ruins are comparable to Ephesus.

A very big and well preserved historical site that is a must visit. Especially worthwhile if you could combine this visit with Antalya museum as the sculptures in the museum are mostly from Perge site.

Awesome theatre, with original marble murals still in place, unlike many such sites appears very original, a must do. With those with some mobility issues there is level access from the road then a fairly gentle slope down . Entrance is Tl 200 (£8) which includes the vast Roman city opposite.

An hour drive from old city of Antalya but worth going and looking at thousands of year old ruins. Long walks so better keep an umbrella and water bottle. Very less crowded

👍👍 Those who love history, going to love the place. My only advice would be - do your research about the places before going to Perge. Go to Archeology Museum first! Find information on YouTube, Google and only then go to Perge! Otherwise is going to be just a historical remains.. once you know the his...
