Take a stroll in the morning to see the action. Make sure to look around before picking your next meal. Plenty of competition!

The market in Antigua is not for the faint hearted. It is a tight labyrinth of stall holders squashed into a reasonable small space. It’s not easy to navigate but you’ll always find your way out - eventually. This market is more for locals than for tourists, but it has a certain local charm that comes with a community market. People bartering. Odours of fish. Colours of handmade clothes. Watching little kids run through the aisles seemingly knowing where to go. Although I didn’t buy anything here, it was an experience, like all markets are. #intrepidtravel #bestofcentralamerica @intrepidtravel #mercadocentralmarket #antiguamarket

An eclectic collection of vendors, selling trinkets, fruits, auto parts, water heaters, Mayan "stuff", and everything in between. The vendors call out for your interest, but they will not chase you or badger (just say no). The fruits were fresh looking, with mangoes particularly sweet. The prices are as if locals frequent the market. It is also only a few blocks from the arch, so worth a quick stroll through if you have half an hour free.

Great experience. Market with indefinite amount of different wares. We especially loved the fruit and vegetable area. So fresh and so good. We bought fruits for our net trip. You can get as Well fish and meat and clothes. Well worth to go. Strongly recommended

Definitely a great place for some souvenirs, we encountered many nice people here and definitely they want to sell but at the same time they are not pushy. From a simple Keychain to up to clothing and jewelry can be found here. Over all its a nice place to visit.

Found this market to be a bit boring without much street food as you find in Mexican markets. This one was more about souvenirs and handcrafts. Worth a visit but not if you are hungry! Lots of fruits and vegetable stands though.

I have been to this market place so many times it's not even funny. I have been able to know people by name They have the best things for sale Blankets shirts jewelry, belts. There isn't anything you can't find there. Also majority of my friends there are Christians. ❤😇

The Antigua Central Market is so clean and well organized. It's also a very colorful market (see photos). Everyone gave me good prices, not tourist prices! Food was really good in the food court. I luv going to the market and this is one of the better ones I've been to!!

If you are wanting a different adventure than the Artisan Market (also great) then cross the street and wander through the Central Market. I love to see the everyday venders doing their thing. Watch as they butcher chicken and enjoy the great array of spices and grains.

A huge local market, which gives a great taste of more authentic market life in Guatemala. Lots of bits for tourists at the front then local shopping the deeper in you go. Friendly, tasty cheap local food as well.

Quite busy on Saturday’s. They do not have a lot of offer in terms of street food but they sell a lot of veggies and fruits. It is fairly big.

Great market with all your needs and wants. For an authentic, delicious and economical meal, I strongly recommend Comedor Marleny in the food Court. Best prices for a fresh and delicious meal. Soups for Q20-30. Quick service served hot. The food court is deep within the market but you won’t be disappointed at her comedor.

A well-organized local market that spans two or three blocks on the western end of town off Avenida de Santa Lucia. Like many Latin American markets, this one features everything from food and produce, clothes, shoes to tourist trinkets and artisanal products. A large proportion of the market is covered but there are also many stalls out in the open forming a kind of a maze. Fairly safe for a tourist, though as usual, I'd be careful with my wallet. Prices are a bit cheaper than in the center of town, but not always. Haggling is recommended

What a crazy experience it was to walk around the market! So many different vendors, fruit and veg everywhere, ladies in traditional Mayan clothes, random confetti shops, tortilla only stands, clothes, souvenirs...everything! The narrow passages are winding and branching, I got lost a few times but ended up buying some local treats and loved them. There's a small eating area packed with locals. There aren't many street food vendors that I was expecting but still a great place to explore.

Everything you need. Market days are Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. Market days can be a little intense, and many things are still available on the other days also. If you don't like crowds, maybe avoid Market days.
