I have been coming to this hotel since I was a child and the original owner ran it, It was great. Even after moving to the US I would come back to this hotel, this is where I got married. But things have worsened over the last four years. The new family owners have lost sight of the customer experience and seem to try to get every dollar out of their guests. Many examples of how bad things have gotten: Our reservation was cancelled the day before we were supposed to arrive due to lack of non payment. I had to email them a copy of the receipt that they had sent me two weeks before. An initial sign of understaff or poor communication. We stayed at the villas, each one with a kitchen, living room, dining room and two rooms. We were not allowed to bring prepared food nor drinks. What is the point of renting villas if guests are not allowed to feel as their own homes? The entire hotel does not allow outside food nor drinks. You are force to buy it from them. We rather give our business to outside restaurants instead of being forced. The rooms have a coffee maker for coffee or warm water free, but if you want warm water at the restaurant they charge you extra. Having breakfast already included with the stay I did not feel like eating and just wanted a juice to take to my room. They refused to allow me to take it out. They also refused to prepare any food to go. They ended up charging me for it. No longer they serve real orange juice, but Tang for breakfast. The only "juice" that they serve. How sad! By 8:30 am during the included breakfast they had already ran out of most fruit, fried plantains and cheese. May staples on a Guatemalan breakfast. They have become petty. Penny wise, dollar fool. The hotel unfortunately is going downhill and it will be the last time me or my family stay at Solei. So many other hotels in Antigua that don't make you feel that they are after your last penny.

I would not recommend this hotel. There are a series of bad reviews recently and we had a similarly bad experience. For example, we found that there was very loud music late into the night (we do not know from where). The safe was also locked when we came in so we would have needed to have somebody come up to fix that. The food was not particularly good. I could go on with a long list and I was only there for two days.

We had a pretty lukewarm experience here at this hotel. When we checked into our room, we can see that it's quite old/dated, but perhaps that's what people want in Antigua. Here were some issues we had: Safe - locked when we entered - had to specifically call the staff over to open it with their master card Phone wasn’t working - Quick Buttons to the Front, Room service, etc all not working The hotel was extremely dark inside, very limited lighting. I suppose it's their way of trying to be environmentally friendly? Provided a ceramic jug that I guess filters water, though I would’ve preferred if they just gave two water bottles. Shower Water was lukewarm at times Or not stable (suddenly cold, suddenly hot) The room service food is actually quite good, but there were a few things that happened which lowered my rating: The tiramisu we ordered had gone bad, it was sour. The staff was nice enough to replace it with a different cake but we still paid extra for it (ie: the tiramisu was more expensive than the replacement cake we got) We really liked the lasagna we ordered, but the next day it was no longer available and menu prices suddenly increased so that was rather upsetting to have the menu price change in the middle of our stay. No outside food can be brought in, so you're stuck ordering what's offered at the hotel. The most upsetting thing that occurred was that the night before we had to leave, our next door neighbor was extremely loud from 1:30 to 3am. They were having a party! Do hotels in Guatemala not have quiet hours? Anyways, since the hotel staff never replaced our broken phone, we had to WALK to the front desk in the middle of the night to complain about this. Although they did send someone to tell the next door neighbor to quiet down, soon afterwards they got loud again and when we called front desk again to complain, we were pretty much ignored. This was extremely frustrating to not have quiet hours at night time to rest. Their breakfast selection was alright, though it's pretty much the same everyday so it can get pretty boring. The only thing going for this hotel is the name and I suppose the outdoors public area decor was quite nice. Staff members are nice in that they greet you, but can be pretty useless if you actually need them for something (ie: loud neighbors).

This place is a beautiful hotel . I was here for my parents 51st anniversary since last year covid was serious and couldn't celebrate it. The hotel is amazing. I loved my room. It was super nice. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. The breakfast was soooo delicious. I miss eating the tortillas. I am definitely coming back here. There is nothing bad to say about the hotel. Amazing views as well. This hotel is A++++++++++

The hotel has many amenities that may not be found at a smaller venue such as pool, playground, ping pong tables, etc. The room is clean. But a few issues come up: 1. No outside food is allowed. 2. The walls are very thin. 3. No coffee machine in the room so you have to order room service to get coffee, which seems to be a hassle.

This hotel is contracted to a system. They pay money and get 5 stars and good comments on Google. And the people, who manages the system doesnt pay money to the users, who gives those stars and comments. Because they ask the uaers to send money first then recieve more money then they sent. Short summery: none of the comments here are real. They are all fake grades and comments. Do not trust!

The hotel is neglected. The towels are musty and very old as well as the bed sheets and comforter. I asked for a quiet room and when I arrived they didn't even knew and ignore my petition. Staff was very rude specially Irwin in the front desk he refused to offer me help also I asked for a plastic bag to one member of the staff and he told me he couldn't give me one. Very rude personnel.

This is a very cozy, beautiful and relaxing hotel. The professional and friendly services made it a super charming place that you must visit! I experienced great customer services here, especially from Andrea at the front desk. She patiently answered my questions, and guided me to enjoy all the services provided by the hotel. Her outstanding service is supported by all departments of this hotel. What a great team work to provide visitors a pleasant stay! This property has very nice pools, spa, garden, restaurant, etc. If you love plant and bird, you definitely want to walk around this place several times a day. I will certainly visit this lovely place again!

The room service leaves much to be desired. Twice I ordered room service and twice the food came cold. I got a hamburger and the taste was awful. Bread was stale and covered in some kind of chive cream sauce on both sides of bun that I didn't ask for. Just wanted a good, hot cheeseburger instead I got a weird cold burger.

The"cobblestone" streets are really rubble and are pointed and ruff. Beware as you can easily trip and fall.

This is a beautiful hotel. The grounds are spacious with lovely landscaping. Rooms are very nice and the restaurant is excellent. I am giving it only three stars for two reasons. The first is that the hotel is very noisy. We arrived in midafternoon after a seven hour bus trip from San Salvador. Unfortunately, rest was impossible because of a loud party including amplified music and loudspeakers in the pool area. This went on until 5:00 PM and was followed by other music, not as loud, until midnight. Also, we had a room that could adjoin the next room if needed and could hear virtually everything said in the next room. The other reason I am giving the hotel only three stars is because the hotel is inconveniently located. It is not far from the main part of the old town but the walk is extremely unpleasant because of the fumes from the buses on the very busy road. I would not be surprised if UNESCO were to cancel the World Heritage Site status of Antigua Guatemala because of the traffic and resulting pollution issues.

Outstanding service, very delicious food, accesible prices, pretty nice facilities, very calm and easy environment for you to relax, they are taking all the security and safety measures for COVID19. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the parrots they have in cages, they are being taken cared of, but I do not support having them in cages. Highly recommended for you to enjoy with friends and family!

Lovely place it's almost like staying in a botanical garden, well staffed but be sure to know some basic Spanish atleast, pretty active and loud on the weekends due to lots of food traffic, ask for double shots in your drink ...they are mild compared to US standards, be sure to bring your jacket, pretty central to most cites and approximately 30min from Hobbitanago

there are better hotels in antigua. the food provided is extremely overpriced, plus it's not very good. the rooms were okay, but the pillows were pretty uncomfortable. the water in the shower was kind of weird. honestly, the only weird things about the hotel are about the hotel. the staff was very, very kind. i appreciate that they let you buy a tank of water so that you don't have to live off of two small water bottles. the wifi's good too.

I had a nice stay here, but I must admit that I enjoyed cheaper hotels elsewhere in Antigua more. However, during the pandemic this hotel is excellent because they send a tester to your room on your schedule. Pros: Beautiful hotel, comfortable room, great service. Cons: Loud, rooms face courtyards and walls are thin. Quite late night though. Bathrooms (shower in particular) are terrible, much better in cheaper hotels.

I liked, mainly because of the style, the service was fine, the food was fine, the bus service was taking us to the city centre, the room had a nice chimney, the view from out window was not the best but not too bad. For the price I recommend it.

Old school but clean. MANY rooms. Nice pools and Whirlpool. BUT: Breakfast has NO taste and the beds are too small! No waterglas in the bathroom, no soap for shower… Thats not a good service for the high price!
