Honestly I had very high expectations given how popular this place is. The portions are really small, I had to order extra rice and even after that, I was no where close to being satisfied. They literally served one piece of chicken leg 🍗 and that was it. The potatoes were good though.

Delicious local food. We got the chicken and the chorizo and both were great. Salad and potatoes both were solid. The tortillas are as authentic as it gets. All for under 10$ for 2 people. Worth the hype!

This place was recommended by a friend of a friend and it did not disappoint. We had the chicken lunchboxes and they were awesome, they look simple but the flavors are out of this world! They also gave us this mystery juice that we have no idea what it was but it also nectar of the gods.

Excellent local food for a really affordable price (Q35 for a big plate of food plus tortillas and a delicious drink). Highly recommended. Rotisserie chicken and pepian were both excellent.

A locals restaurant that is frequented by tourists. A nice mix of clientele that speaks to quality and value. The menu is typical local cuisine. We went here on a friend's recommendation from her visit years ago which speaks to consistency. The process is a very efficient system where you order from the counter, find a table and receive your food quite quickly. When we arrived I thought finding a table was going to be difficult but after ordering and turning around the staff had turned over a few tables with incredible efficiency. The food was good and plentiful, set menu style that includes a drink. The daily menu changes throughout the week. There is always wood fired rotisserie chicken available as well as sausages. Handmade tortillas are included in the meal. Its open 8am to 4pm so no dinner hours.

My favourite go-to place while visiting the city. Don’t wait foolishly in front of the door. No waiter is going to get you a seat. Just go inside and turn right. You will see a big menu and a person beside it to take orders. You pay ahead of time and they give you a number that you can take with you to any table. The food comes out really fast with a complimentary tortilla and a sweet drink. There is a washing station near the entrance so you can wash your hands before and after you eat your chicken with your hands. The portion size is pretty big. Most meals are around 40 GTQ.

35 QTG will buy you chicken, potatoes (baked, cheap oil taste but fine) salad (lettuce with mayonnaise sauce), and a drink (Jamaica, a bit too sweet) with refill. The chicken is pretty great. Its not so delicious, doesn’t stand the hype, but its a nice local place to eat a big portion of food.

Amazing stew and roasted chicken for a great price! This is a must stop. I ate here twice during my stay in Antigua and was not disappointed either time.

Excellent meal. Great service and great price. The drink special was so yummy. Did get really warm in the courtyard with the fire going too.

The spit-fired roasted chicken was amazing!! Get the plate! The Tamarind juice is so good too. The setting is comfortable and it's worth the wait. Oh, and the tortillas are made fresh at the door.

All the plates cost 35quetzal each. I was recommended by the dude at the charging counter to try their pollo asado as it is their specialty. We also tried Chile relleno and, a portion of chorizo. I have never tried better pollo asado in my life yet, and trust me, I am a die hard foodie. Chile relleno is delicious too. Chorizo is good but too dry for me taste. I can eat at this place every day.

Delicious, cheap, and big portions!! Q35 for each of our plates - comes with selected main protein, side(s) that is/are chosen for you, and a drink that you can refill yourself. We could taste the local flavors in the food and really appreciated how homemade everything tasted. HOWEVER, just beware of the uncooked produce such as the side salad. One of us got quite sick from eating the lettuce and his stomach didn’t have the most enjoyable next couple of days ://

What a great place for lunch! The place was busy for a Wednesday during the rainy season. Had the Chorizo lunch plate with a simple salad and potatoes, a drink is included in the price of about 5$ U.S.

This is the BEST restaurant in Antigua to eat traditional Guatemalan food at affordable prices. The breakfast and lunch menu changes every day depending on the day of the week. The restaurant is very popular with locals and travellers and mostly busy. It's set like a traditional Spanish courtyard with a fountain in the middle. One needs to place an order at the counter first and then servers will bring the table to your food. Mostly Spanish-speaking staff is quick and helpful. Do note the timings of the restaurant.

What a gem of a place! One of my best meals in Guatemala. Super flavourful chicken roasted before your eyes and generous servings with salad, potatoes and juice. I’ll be back!

Awesome place to get some really authentic food. Chicken rotates on fire pit right in front of you and tortillas are hand made on large griddle at front. Fair prices and portions. Cute fountain and atmosphere with a little bakery. Also have BR.

BEST LUNCH EVER! Oh, we would’ve eaten here everyday if we could - this place was so good. We ate the Pepian and the Pollo con papas. The chickens were roasted right in front us, so we could see everything. The salad dressing was light and refreshing, it went perfectly with the lettuce and potatoes and the chicken - well with everything! The corn tortillas came with the meal and it added the perfect touch to everything, perfect for the soupy Pepian! Not only was the food absolutely scrumptious, but it was affordable too! I would pay double what I did for everything all over again. Honestly, this was the best meal we had in all of Antigua! I need not see anything else:))))

The ambiance was great with a really local feel to it. We tried the caldo de gallina and the pollo a la leña. The caldo was ok but it tasted a little blend with little spicies. The pollo a la leña was pretty good !

Delicious and such good value! Both the chicken and the vegetarian plates were delicious and worth the queue to get a table. Our lunch meals included a drink (withfree refills) and the homemade lemonade was great!

I got the Efosado and it was really good. I will definitely return for more during my next visit. Serving portions were excellent to where I had food left over.

So yummy! Like Texas BBQ but Gmala style. Only maybe $4.50 for a large chicken portion yummy potatoes and a fruit juice drink. And the atmosphere is nice like a garden but with purple checkered picnic tables. Food was so much I couldn’t eat it all. There are lots of other traditional Guatemalan dishes for a nice price! 🇬🇹

This place is just amazing. Food is delicious and the prices are extremely affordable. Today was my second time here. The perfect place for Breakfast and lunch since they close early and doesn't open for dinner.

Super nice and affordable place for authentic Guatemalan food! I highly recommend it.

About $30 q for a simple brekky which includes eggs your way (soft medium) and a small beans soup and some fresh tortillas the woman who makes it in front (make sure to tip her on the way out!) and an atol drink (they add sugar to it Fyi) . The ambience is nice, the birds come to collect scraps when you walk away and it’s a peaceful location to get your morning bearings. I feel the eggs could be bigger but it’s a good price for Antigua. You get a little tiny fried plantain sweet too- rather tiny but I’m not a huge anything in oil fan so it’s enough. You pay upfront and get a number and take a seat and they’ll bring your food to you. Seems like a very local place so I support that. Always support local Guatemala!

Authentic and affordable food. It is not a full service restaurant, you must order at a window. There might be some wait time to be seated during peak hours

Food is beyond good, its delicious. And the ambiance just adds to the experience. Best tortillas, fresh made and to your table. My favorite place in Antigua currently 🤙🏾

A must try if you want to experience local guatemalan food! Incredibly tasty meal, famous for the roast chicken, fast service and low prices. Highly recommended!

Best restaurant I've tried in Guatemala. If you want a taste of local food in a nice atmosphere where you can freely enjoy yourself, this is it. Right in the middle of Antigua Guatemala, it offers full lunches with a main dish and endless fresh juice refills for just 40 Quetzals, about $6 dollars per person. A steal!

Amazing Local and traditional Guatemalan food. Love the open wood fireplace where they rotisserie the chicken.

Came here based on the good reviews and because it seems like it’s the only place in Antigua to eat local Guatemalan food. Had to menu of the day (which includes lemonade) and it was good. Also had the desert which was also good. You have to line up first and pay and order, then you get a little placard you put on your table with a number, and they bring the food to your table. The waiter forgot to bring a drink I ordered and I had to go back and ask after I finished my meal.

Basic place. Cleanness standards can be improved and dogs roaming around is a no go. Food is decent but certainly nothing to write home about.

Cheapest meal in Antigua and very tasty. Tried different dishes and liked them all.

On our trip back from Lake Atitlan, we met a Czech family (because isn't that what you do in Guatemala?) that recommended this place for breakfast and we weren't disappointed!! On the street at the entrance to the restaurant is a woman making fresh tortillas. Inside the courtyard, you order and pay, and then someone brings the food to your table. We had traditional eggs and frijoles, delicious! It was also our first time trying atole, which I thought was really tasty. While sitting in the restaurant we saw an employee putting chickens on a spit grill. It looked like the makings of a delicious lunch or dinner, but sadly that'll have to be for our next visit!
