Incredible National Park with several helpful entrance visitor centres with ample information. All routes are incredibly well maintained and excellent facilities. Probably one of the best national parks I’ve visited in the world

You should buy a pair of glove! Less than a dollar at any convenience store. It is rocky to go to the top but it is worth it!

I took the difficult route for baegundae peak difficult course. Set aside at LEAST 6HOURSE for this hike. PLEASE have a proper hiking shoes, this course has lots of steep slopes and high uneven stones. Bring sufficient water, highly recommend to bring at least 1-2litres of water. It’s a very enjoyable experience and I recommend everyone to try this. Set aside 3hrs to hike up and probably 2.5hr to hike down. Started my journey at the tourist information center around 11.33am, reach a board that states baegundae difficult course (2.6km) or baegundae easy course (4.1km) at 12pm. (Around 30min walk) I chose the baegundae difficult course (2.6km) and reach the peak 2.20pm. In between with multiple break of around fe minutes. Took around 2hr 20min to reach the top. If I include the walk from the information center, it’s around 2hr 50min. I rested around 40min at the peak enjoying the scenery and eat my gimbak lunch! Hike down 3pm to 5.33pm (2hr 33min) from the peak to “Barrier Free Trail” (5-10min away from tourist information center) Free entry, I went on a Public Holiday and it’s fairly crowded. For some reasons even thou the park close at 5pm from google. I still see a lot of people coming in and hiking up when I’m coming down. FYI, My fitness level is fair. I exercise at least once or twice a week usually by going for a spin class. Or for those that totally don’t exercise or have no stamina please set aside more time.

Beware to those comments who said reach Baegundae peak in 2hrs. They could b entering using the Ui-dong entrance or super-fit. Here at Jeongneung entrance, it usually takes 4 hrs to reach the peak. U need to pass through Bogangmun, Yongammun, Baegundae Shelter checkpoints first. When reach Baegundae peak, take the Baegundae information centre trail to reach Ui-dong exit in 2 hrs to complete the whole trail. Good luck!

Hiking to the top was long and hard. Even though we started quite early and was on the trail by about 8, it still took us a few hours to get to the peak. Many stone and rocks to be climbed over and it is quite steep at times. At the top there is quite a few people so it can take a little while to actually reach the peak as some of the trail gets narrow. Coming down we were happy that we got up early to do it, as we found the crowds going up were quite big. I can imagine starting it in the middle of the day would take much more time, as you also have to factor in waiting for people to move along. As for the sights, they were great from the top. The peak is a bit hairy as well, if you don't have a good head for heights it might not be the best mountain to climb to the top. The day we did it it was quite windy so a little tense at the very top. Some people were braver than us and going to the edge of the large rocks and slabs of stone......we were happy to keep within the ropes and chains. Good exercise and well worth the effort, but it was a hard climb. (to add: crowds were due to the weekend and it was also a national holiday weekend)

Best destination in Seoul ever!! There are many trails that you can take here and most of the trails lead you to amazing destinations. The effort to reach those destinations is high but the panoramic views are well worth every steps you took. We took the hard trail to go to Baekundae peak and it was tough. However, the experience was something that we will never forget!

Arrival: Took the metro line 1 to Hoeryong. It was about a 20min walk to the entrance. Difficulty: My trail was 'intermediate' level, and I have to admit, it was quite demanding. There were an endless amount of stairs and stones on my way to the top (Podaeneungson Ridge). If you have knee problems, this route may be suitable for you. Water supply: I did my hike on April. The sun shone, and it was about 13 degree (Celsius). I brought 1,5l water, and it was not enough. I'd recommend 2l at least. If you hike in the blazing hot 🔥 summer 🌞 heat, then even 3l+. Impression: It was an awesome experience. Beautiful views, frightening heights, and a good workout. I am glad to have Bukhansan in my travel itinerary!

Fabulous! Wonderful and demanding hiking. Lovely greenery and views. Good signage, but be prepared for rocky trails. Many visitors used walking sticks to steady themselves over the many uneven sections. The park information office and a trail start in Jeongneung is a single bus ride from Hongdae to the park office, so use public transport. The helpful park office provide free basic paper maps that show the ease/difficulty of each trail section - very useful.

A wonderful hike in autumn, admiring the foliage colors, on a cool & sunny day. The hike to Baegundae peak (about 3 hours including many breaks for photos) was just the right amount of challenging but manageable. The hiking infrastructure is well done (stairs, ropes, etc) so you could climb big huge rocks to the peak without too much difficulties. Have a picnic at the top with nice view of Seoul. When you go back down, note that if you take the other route, it goes to the other side of the mountain and the only option to get to the nearest public transport is by car/taxi or 40min walk.

Beautiful park that offers a breath taking view of Seoul. The climb is intense and the last 400-500 meters are not for the faint of heart. You will have to climb using cables. The paths surrounding the mountain also take you past a temple, a fortress, and an old gate (depending on the route taken) I needed a little over 2 hours for the ascent.

It's definitely one of the top destinations for mountain lovers in Seoul. Expectedly, pathways and other safety supports for hikers are well maintained and appropriately in place. Yet the whole mountain--especially around the peak--gets overcrowded during weekend, often putting people into a position in which they have to compromise their experience and own safety.

The best views of Seoul you can get. The foliage was gorgeous during autumn. The walkways are well kept and you can get an English map from the visitors centre. There are intermittent first aid kits on the trail but minimal access to water.

Ranging intermediate to advanced hiking. Went hiking with a private guide, took us 4 hours to and fro. A pair of shoes with good grips is essential as some parts especially the advanced lap was pretty slippery, I held on the rope tightly. You will be fine if you are active on your feet and do regular cardio exercises. The views up there are mind-blowing~

Beauty at its finest!😍 Wonderful park, wonderful views! Koreans do know how to keep the nature they’ve got! But most importantly don’t go with normal sneakers, there are a lot of rocks and we regretted it a lot, otherwise the climb up is not that hard, took us about 2 hours one way👌

It's not to hard but a lot of "stairs" like path. It feels like going up a 400m building only using stairs. But the view is great and the top is really nice to stay for quite some time. Not far from Seoul for a day break, highly recommend. Note : I had to go on weekend so it's overly crowded on top. I highly recommend weekdays. There is 10times less people

Koreans like to hike. They spend their weekend exploring different routes. Come prepared. As some of the routes can be very challenging and will take more than 6 hours to complete. Start your hike earlier and pick the route from the starting point.

(Translated by Google) Jinsan (鎭山) that made Seoul a capital city is Bukhansan. This mountain is also commonly used as a volcano or Samgaksan, but Bukhansan is the first and the second is Samgaksan. Bukhansan is the end of the Gwangju Mountains, leading to Sapaebong Peak, Dobongsan Mountain, Bibong Peak, and Inwangbong Peak. Most mountain areas are watersheds from which large and small rivers originate, and on the other hand, they are the boundary lines of administrative districts. To write in Dongguk Yeoji Seungram, “The mountain peak that overlaps with the peak connected to the fountain is high and low. It turns round and round to the southwest of Yangju land and becomes Dobongsan Mountain and Samgaksan Mountain, so this is actually the Jinsan of Seoul’. Lee Saek (李穡) is a far-off time-honored poem, “The three peaks were cut out. The appearance of the hand of a god's hand pointing to the sky. It will be rare in the world. When I was a boy, I had already known the true shape of this mountain. Here, the range of Samgaksan Mountain includes Dobongsan Mountain, and it is said that the name comes from the fact that the three peaks stand out. As we go back to the past, the triangular mountain has a nuance that seems to have been commonly used. This is because the three peaks, Baeeundae, Insubong, and Gukmangsan, are remarkably beautiful, so-called Subong. As Kim Sang-heon (金尙憲), who advocated anti-war to the end as a preliminary version of Byeong-ja-ho, was taken to Shenyang in the Qing Dynasty, the triangular mountain is also revealed in the song of the loyalist song. ' Kanora Samgaksan, see you again Han Gangsu, Hariahman, who wants to leave the mountain stream in his home country, is suspicious of his days. It is worth paying attention to the fact that Samgaksan and the Han River are presented as symbols of Seoul. It is a proud mountain where the spirit of the nation permeates, and we must protect it. It is the spiritual mountain of Hal people. The wicked Japanese Empire during the Japanese occupation period Is a nation with dozens of iron stakes in various places in Bukhansan I tried to cut off my regular schedule. Extremely good place for those who wanna try doing adventurous activities and also enjoying the mountainous sceneries with fresh and cool air! Remember that toilets are closed during winter and some areas are still in construction so if you do have sufficient tools and skill, I recommend just going as far as you think it is safe only and be careful with the slippery of snow.

If you're a nature lover visiting Seoul, this is the best place to be. A national park of such beauty near one of the world's largest metropolitan cities is an incredible bonus. There are numerous hiking options here, catering to various levels of hikers. The most popular trail leads to the summit, and the park is particularly stunning during the autumn season. The granite peaks adorned with colorful foliage create a breathtaking scenery.

Beautiful park shockingly close to downtown Seoul. Hiking ranges from gentle to fairly extreme with ropes and cables provided to pull yourself up and make descent manageable. The views are surprisingly beautiful for a park so close to the city. We saw only 6 or so people on a 3 hr hike once we left the lower, less steep part of the trail. There are walls, temples and pavilions scattered throughout the park and the ones we visited were beautifully decorated and in good repair. Wear good hiking shoes and bring plenty of water, this is a "real" hike.

Great view, long track to the peak. Prepare water and meals for break. Better equip with gloves to pull yourself up using the steep rope provided in the park and with good hiking shoes as well. You can choose to take different route up and down the hill. If you require map, cost 1000won.

I must agree with reviews below that this mountain is gorgeous! I was hiking to Baekundae and made a choice for a hard trail. I have to admit it was really a hard trail and in fact, I was literally climbing sometimes. 🙂 Finally, the breathtaking view was worth it! I went to the Mount Uisangbong another day (it was a hard trail again). Amazing views were thoughout my hiking and as a result, I really enjoyed this hike. If you visit Seoul and you like hiking, you might go to both of the places. 💪

A very nice change of pace, compared to the busy streets of Seoul. The only sound you can hear is the river flowing and the insects in the trees. Tracking up to the various peaks can be very exhausting. But the views from up top are definitely worth it. Be sure to pack plenty of water and a light lunch to enjoy together with a magnificent view of Seoul.

Amazing view at the peak of the mountain, highly recommend renting the mountain gears as my shoes kept slipping on the rocks There is two routes, we went for the harder route up, it was really difficult as you had to literally crawl up the rocks and there was no hand rails to guide you but it was definitely faster Do bring a big water bottle as there isn’t any water refill except a temple that provided natural water at the entrance

We trekked up the Bukhansan as part of a team building activity and it surely worked. The trail starts right from the bottom (although there is a way to drive up halfway), and it starts very gently at first, with walkways past narrow streams and wooden bridges. But once you cross the Buddha temple halfway true, the 2nd half of the journey to the top is what needs more skill & teamwork. We had the added challenge of rain once we reached the top, so our journey down was even more challenging & worth the fun. Overall, the visit is a must do, for kids & adults alike, for beginners & pro climbers alike

Bukhansan is a treasure in the middle of Seoul. There are plenty of trails and destinations to choose from, from easy, to medium, to expert. While not the biggest mountain in Korea, don't underestimate Baegundae peak -- it's a steep, rocky climb that'll test even seasoned hikers. There aren't many vista points on the way to the top, but this just makes the eventual view all the more breathtaking. From the top, you can see Seoul sprawl in all directions. It's quite a sight! Bring plenty of water and maybe some kimbap for a picnic at the summit. You may even spot a stray cat or dog! If you have time in Seoul and want to escape the hubbub, Bukhansan is a great way to do it.

Beautiful hikes in the national park. We hiked up to Baegundae Peak (Mt Bukhansan). Definitely was not an easy hike as some parts of the trail were very steep, and you kind of had to pull yourself up along metal ropes. Doing this in Winter, at the end of January also meant that small sections of the trail had ice on them. For these sections I would recommend having crampons/aisen which you can buy at many outdoor stores.

I am an novice hiker. It’s been a while since I hiked up a mountain and I was out of shape. I think it was very challenging course for a beginner. My friend and I started from bookhansan Ui station and it took 3hr and 30 minute to finish Backuoondae course. Although it was very challenging due to high slope and slippery rocks, It was worthwhile when we were up on top! The view was spectacular and cannot be described into words. I recommend to people who have some experience in hiking or are in good shape at least.

This park is legitimate! It's an old mountain fortress turned park. The place is mammoth. We did a day hike and were very unprepared. We should have brought more water (we brought 2 liters each) and snacks as well as gloves. This is real hiking. We hiked to highest peak- 5 hours up and 3.5 hours to get back down. Some parts we were climbing using metal railing to get up. Do your research before you go and have a well mapped out plan. There are lots of signs so plan by "gate" markers. The views and experience were once in a life time. Definitely worth it if you can do so safely.

We thought we were still young. We thought we are well prepared. We trekked and realised we wasn't ready for it. But we think it's all worth the hike up. It is, indeed worthy. Even though coming down were way tougher, we made it, in one piece. Kudos and please train up for another hike!! Photos includes map + hike journey + pre-post hike group photos of my squad.

Make sure you study your way up here well before coming to experience this unforgettable hike! We took this trail and it's quite challenging. Make sure to ask the guard or local if you lost your way to the top! Immerse yourself with the view of its summit. Make sure to pack yourself sufficient water or snacks or food to satisfy yourself up there. There is so many ways to hike down and we chose the trail that leading us to Subway line 1. Make sure to ask the guard.

Must have seen! Korea, land of the stairs and steep stone made steps 👍 birds place, beautiful trees and granite rocks that really rocks your eyes. Good shoes required, sometimes it's really tricky. Picnic at the walls gates is great, bc of the good view on Seoul (if air is not too dusty).

Bukhansan Baegundae Peak is a really cool place to visit. The climb up the mountain is tough, but when you reach the top, the view is really amazing. The trail is well-marked and the scenery is beautiful, with lots of trees and water. It's a good idea to take breaks on the way up, because it can be hard to climb all the way without resting. When you finally make it to the top, you can see the city below and it's a really cool view. I would definitely recommend this hike to anyone who likes a challenge and enjoys nature. It's definitely worth the effort!

Great hike in Seoul, although be prepared that going to the peak is decently difficult! We took the easier route and didn’t expect it would be too hard but still found it a bit challenging. Worth seeing 100% - allocate lots of time as it’ll take you a while

We choose a bad time to go here bevause it was way to hot to climb a mountain. It was 33°C / 91°F. Still loved it! Alot of different ways you can go and explore. Every now and then you can find benches or spots to sit down too.

Nice scenery, a little bit too tough hiking trails, especially for kids. I wish I could have more time to explore this park
