Beautiful castle, we went there for the "princess day" and it was very well organised. The gardens are beautiful. The castle itself is closed due to renovation and it will open somewhere next year so I'm looking forward to visiting again once it's fully open.

Beautifully renovated Royal Palace in prime condition with amazing gardens in a huge park. Built by/for William III of William and Mary fame (the guy who conquered England in 1666). The outside is Dutch Renaissance with French formal gardens and a more English park. The inside is a wonderful collection of rooms in the Renaissance, Baroque, Empire and 1930s styles. Plus the lush new entrance in a very marbly 2020s style. Catering is so-so. The 2 restaurants could not sell us a bottle of water for my thirsty kids. There is no vending machine, strangely. Parking is easy and plentiful, but not cheap at 8 euros. Public transportation access is good from the Apeldoorn station. Ventilation is disappointing. I measured up to 1,050 ppm on a reasonably busy day. Not good enough. It smells stuffy too, which cannot be good for the palace and its contents. There are two good merchandise shops but nothing I could use in a modern styled home, apart from the obligatory fridge magnet. I think foreign visitors might love the shopping. The broader Veluwe area is lovely and has amusement parks, forests, a hunting lodge, a Van Gogh museum and a monkey zoo.

Really nice place! Lots to see! We went there just a bit before closing and ended up getting to the gardens right before they started to kick people out. If you end up with the same problem - go to the very end of the gardens first and then walk back - because they start moving people out in that direction. Layout of the Palace was a little confusing we ended up missing one side of it but we also knew we needed to go to the gardens before they close. Make sure you go to the rooftop! The views of the garden are maybe even better than what you would see down there.

Very well maintained, informative. Beautiful locations in the surroundings. Good outing for half a day. Also there is a Junior castle, basically a fun zone for kids (ensure to book the slot prior ). Best part is that the whole castle is accessible by wheel chairs and strollers on all the floors and terrace. I had a big double stroller, even that was accessible easily. Jackets and backpacks are not allowed. Blankets and Umbrellas are provided on the terrace, so you can go out on top anytime or weather.

Palais Het Loo is really beautiful. You can spend the whole day visiting it, with your friends and family members. You can start with the indoor part of the castle and then see the beautiful gardens. You can click beautiful photos and videos to keep them as memories or share them with your dear ones. You can have a drink or lunch in the restaurant of the castle. Can't wait to visit it again!

Palace Het Loo opens from 10:00 to 17:00. It was resident of the royal family but made a museum in 1984. The palace has been renovated and reopend. The Palace is very beautiful; it has a museum, two gardens including a stable and two restaurants. 3 to 4 hours is enough to visit all the places inside the campus. It is free with museum kart.

The palace is very well maintained and described within the audio guides. Reserve several hours to visit it and the gardens. It does not matter which tour you buy, you'll be able to visit all of them inside. The access to the roof ia not that obvious, so look for it near the entrance hall

A beautiful palace. It is recommended to download the app and walk through the palace rooms with detailed and interesting explanations. It is also recommended to go up to the roof of the palace, hear an explanation from the guide there and enjoy the view of the gardens.

Having visited many outstanding palaces and gardens in the UK & Europe this is certainly in our top 5, the gardens are impressive and impeccably maintained. The entrance to the palace via the underground atrium is spectacular, although the palace is sparsely furnished it doesn’t detract form it’s grandeur.

(Translated by Google) Cozy little house, especially the 5th and 7th bathrooms are very nice. However, there is also a disadvantage to this house: the cleaning work takes so much time that there is no time left to sleep. So I wouldn't want to live there.

This is one huge and best palace in the Netherlands which tourists should never miss. It has a French styled garden and lots of beautiful statues in it. The interior design of the palace is marvelous and you'll see lots of paintings and antiques. I was surprised that the former Dutch queen even had far-east porcelain and decoration. The park of Oude Loo will only be opened between April and May every year. The palace Het Loo is worthy to visit again and again.

Beautiful gardens. Can't wait to go back and see the house once the work is complete. Note: the peacock is crafty and will stand in front of the do not feed the peacock sign, obscuring it until after you have fed him. Don't be fooled like I was.

Nice place to visit if you are in that area. But as grand as other palaces though - castle de haar for ex. Tickets are the same price online or on the spot. Paid parking available on the spot.

Fabulous combination between new and old architecture! watching the play of light with the water of the fountain from below is fascinating. the finest materials in the new building but by no means ostentatious. magnificent view from the roof of the palace. wonderful gardens. in the rearmost part of the site you can relax wonderfully by the lake.

It is very nicely organised with several routes and tours to follow. The app that you can download can give you the tour as well. Written or spoken. Beautiful Palace as expected ofcourse! Each room with a story of its own and all the little details present, will keep you busy for as long as you'd like. Don't forget to look up! The restaurant is decent enough with decent prices. The reason why it only get 3 stars from me is this: In the public Palace gardens in front of the Palace itself, the are some nice benches you can sit and relax. To bad there's a lot of trash laying around. This also has to do with the little amount of bins available. Inside the Palace, it is so unbelievably busy, that (at least I did) the feeling of being rushed has a constant presence. People almost pushing themselves into the next room, not keeping in account that they are not the only once there. That really put down the experience it gave.

Beautiful gardens and well maintained palace with interesting audio tours. Yes the work is still ongoing to finish the front of the palace but still worth a visit. Don’t miss out on visiting the roof, especially on a beautiful day - the entrance is a bit hidden so I missed it the first time, had to ask for directions to find it.

Beautiful palace with beautifully restored interiors. The gardens are also breathtaking. Fully rated spoil grapes shop full of nonsense, where you can't even buy a postcard or a magnet with a palace. They don't even have any text or brochure here, just audio guides. The app could not be downloaded from the Play Store.

  • 5/5 Wrath G. 1 year ago on Google
Not the largest palace you’ll ever see but it’s been nicely restored and, whatever some people may think, the audiotours are a welcome addition. Instead of just being shown rooms full of “things”, you get to hear about the people and the stories behind them and that’s when the palace really comes alive.

We did purchase tickets upfront but it seemed it was faster to purchase tickets when entering the site. Shortly after the entrance there was a street theater for kids and a creative area where children could make their own crown. Apparently you need to enter the palace itself at the time your reserve. This was unclear to us as most places you reserve the time to enter the site itself. This information could be improved. Also it was impossible to reserve parking for two cars which caused by a limitation of the website. This also makes it difficult to reserve a time slot with larger groups as the time slots already were gone during checkout. The palace visit is great and the entertainment in the garden for kids is really awesome.

Good place but overrated, you have two parts to the visit. You have to see both. The palace is big, but the visit is not so much (you don't see everything!) You can also enjoy the gardens, I didn't find them really spectacular. Royal carriages yes!

I really enjoyed visiting this Palace Het Loo in Apeldoorn. With the museumkaart is free, though the parking is paid. The palace is really big though visits are only allowed in part of it. The palace is really well conserved and preserved. It has a huge garden super beautiful that you can see from the rooftop. You can also walk there and even go to the forest that is part of the visit. This forest is really worth the try so take your boots/sneakers. It has a huge and beautiful lake, statues and things like that. You can spend an entire day over there, if you want. There is a cafe where you can buy some food / drinks. For me, the best was the library. For those who like books, is difficult not to like it.

Incredible palace, with a magnificent gardens. The whole complex is very well maintained and it seems it had a renovation recently. We bought the tickets at the place, only because we wanted to buy the museum card, but online is also possible. The price for adults starts at almost 20 euros, so the museum card was perfect, and you already cover 1/3 of the price of it. The whole complex can be divided into, the gardens, the palace, the palace rooftop, the stables, the garage and the woods that are behind the garden which take you to other things like “Het Oude Loo”, but that was not included in the price. It is important to keep in mind that we you buy your ticket, you get a visit slot, and you have to be there at that time. You start with the east or west wing of the palace, and then the rooftop, all three tours take you back to the main staircase taking you back to the lobby where the audio guides are for a price of 2-3 euros. If you don’t want to pay the audio guide, there’s an app that you can download for free, if you have no data plan, the palace has free WiFi so you can rely on that. There are some signs with the password. You can see everything in 1-2hs depending on how interested you are in the audios. On average each audio last 2-4 minutes and there are about 10-15 stops per palace wing. The complex has a small cafe at the end of the gardens, and a restaurant at the entrance where the ticket office is located. Prices are alright. The palace has lockers and toilet, the ask you to leave your backpack there. I really enjoyed visiting this place, it remind me a bit to the Palace of Versailles. If in doubt, I couldn’t recommend it more. I was there on a Sunday, not too crowded. Enough to enjoy and be able to take photos.

Download the app and audio tour before you go. Tour is great - informative while being entertaining and never boring. Really high quality. Palace is great, with very helpful friendly and informative staff spread around and happy to answer questions. Suggest allowing c1.5 hours for the Palace if doing the two sections of the audio tour, and a further 30 mins minimum for the gardens, or 1.5 hours if you intend to do the formal gardens and the orange route around the boating lake (all of which are well worth doing). The new gallery space below the courtyard is amazing, with an interesting g exhibition about the project.

a non-pretentious baroque castle, only the dutch could accomplish that. inside still pretty fancy rooms of course. also the baroque lower and upper garden. at the end there also is an entrance/ exit to the castle forest, closes at 16.30! It is in general a pity, that the castle already closed at 17.00, since a lot of nice hours could be spend in the garden in summer evenings

Very beautiful place. Brand new museum! 2 bar cafes restaurants with amazing lunch as well. A lot of facilities to visit and a great story to read. You need at least 3 hours to discover all the palace rooms and then at least 1 hour to walk through the gardens. There is a hike root as well so be prepared with hat, water and good shoes!
