COVID precautions require purchasing timed tickets. Sold at 15 minute entry intervals, I purchased mine right before I left my house. Beautiful expansion building is attached to the original Crocker mansion. Exhibits were well laid out and easy to navigate. Loved the bright open areas and the eclectic mix of Mexican, African and Asian art. Spent 3 hours here and easily could have made it a full day to take it all in. Gift shop is small but reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit!

This museum has a bit of everything: modern, classic, ancient, ceramics, sculptures, glass work, weavings and tapestries, mixed media, and so much more. It’s a great museum that spans a few buildings with tall ceilings and a quiet atmosphere. There is paid parking across the street.

This is a truly exceptional museum with amazing works of art. If you go on Sunday, the nearby parking is free. Also, the entrance fee is a voluntary donation. Plus, the staff make you feel very welcome and are happy to share their wealth of knowledge about the art, artists, and the museum.

We went here on a date and it was beautiful and a lot larger than I expected (three floors of artwork). It's a fair price to get in ($12) for all the amazing artwork you get to see. The building itself is beautiful. Masks are currently required.

This museum is GORGEOUS. The fashion, the paintings, the ceramics, the art pieces... All absolutely amazing. The museum is very neat, open and quiet. There's staff nearby in every section. Bathrooms are pristine. The atmosphere is peaceful and inviting. Overall, a great experience! Side note: I'd recommend you set aside 2 hours to see the whole place.

Had a really pleasant experience visiting this place! It's got a mix of contemporary and classic artworks which is pretty cool. The architecture is a real treat too – it's like a blend of traditional and modern styles. There's a lot to see and take in. Definitely a must-visit!

Abby and Juan's engagement session at the Crocker Art Museum was so stunning! The iconic venue provided a unique and artistic backdrop for our photos. The museum's stunning architecture and diverse collections added a touch of elegance and sophistication to our shoot and the staff was incredibly accommodating, making us feel welcome throughout the entire process. So if you're looking for a location that combines culture, beauty, and a friendly atmosphere for your engagement session, you might want to put The Crocker Art Museum on your list! Here are some shots I took of Abby and Juan!

Ancient - Belonging to an earlier period of time.e.g Historical articles and artifacts with vivid information with subsequent and substantial proof are located at this nice serene environment. Contemporary - Existing in the present time. These articles and item proof to be a reality due to the fact that they are visible. Magical - Captivating; enchanting. These articles and items are so mesmerising to seen. In fact they are delighted to witness. Majestic - Grand; impressive; stately. Nice edifice with modern facilities with all the items. Modern - Of or relating to the current time. Mystical - Magical; enigmatic Quiet - Not noisy . Silent place to interact and learn History. Traditional - In keeping with conventional customs That's the keywords I will use to describe this place.

Visited for free as part of the Bank of America Museums on Us Program. An absolutely beautiful massive collection of art. It can be a bit confusing to navigate all the different rooms spread across multiple levels but you almost want to get lost in the variety. So many different styles, artists, mediums. My favorite are the glass art pieces. Extremely beautiful. Plentiful parking when we visited as well and inexpensive street parking nearby.

This museum is enormous and has an equally large and diverse collection on display. Every room is engaging, and you can tell the museum staff and curators pit in effort. Seriously worth a visit by anyone; even those not interested in art will find it rewarding.

This is probably my favorite museum in Sacramento, if only because of how large it is and the diversity of the collection. The museum is 3 stories with most of the art exhibits being on levels 2 and 3. The museum floorplan is basically 3 buildings in one, with various additions over the years. If you have a Bank of America account, be sure to check the museum website for days when they offer free admission with your card!

Due to COVID-19, the museum is not open right now, but this place is a must visit if you’re in Sacramento. Go with your family, go on a date or even stroll the corridors alone. There’s a pleasant surprise around every corner, in every room. The curators have done an amazing job. You don’t have to know about art or be an art enthusiast to be able to appreciate this museum. I spent a good 2 hours here.

I visited this gem of a museum on my birthday and it was simply beautiful! The museum is very well kept and offers a wide variety of work, if you're into classic realism with styles and characteristics from the baroque, expressionism, renaissance, etc. eras this place is a must visit, it has various magnificent collections for every artistic preference!

As museums go, I would rate Crocker among the top. The Candy Store Gallery is a must see and during our trip, we spent 4+ hours in the gallery and 60% of that was in the Candy Store Gallery. The docents reach out to engage and are so knowledgeable - the stories captivate and get you to appreciate what is in front of you. A must stop for any museum lover visiting Sacramento.

I live in Sacramento for about 12 years and this is the first time I've ever gone to the museum! I can't believe this is my first time, just now going! My wife and I are getting ready to celebrate our 9-year anniversary on the 31st. We planned a day out together to just go around Sacramento and enjoy some of the attractions and activities right here at home for the day. This was one of them. For me, I absolutely love the original museum because I enjoy historic buildings. The stairwell and the tile work, everything about it was just really amazing to me. I absolutely loved it. When we went over to the newer building where there was actually more art to be seen, that was enjoyable as well. Some of the pieces were very are inspiring. There are three that really stood out. The giant mural of the old man, the father, was really amazing. Also the AI exhibit turned out to be one of the most fun components of the museum. Stating a phrase, thought or an idea and that it coming up with a drawing that represents that was fun to see. Very interesting indeed. There is even a time that my wife was trying to push the button and I wasn't ready yet and so we kind of had a little bicker with her trying to get me to go and I wasn't ready, so I bickered back and it actually captured a little bit of our Tiff and drew a picture of a man and wife arm wrestling - lol. I thought that was actually pretty amazing. We ended up printing that one out and keeping it. Smiling the whole time. In total we spent 3 hours there. If a person doesn't engage in the AI portion and, goes through everything quickly without stopping to really take it in from time to time--I'm sure they can get through it in an hour and a half to 2 hours or so. But we took our time. I appreciate that they also recognize veterans and gave me a discount on the admission as a result. That's always a nice touch. Parking was nice and easy and the day was beautiful. As a matter of fact when we were done we just went for a little scooter ride around the area:-) Also, the views from the upper levels of the new building are really incredible. Everything was just really well done. I didn't know if I would like it that much but I've never been and so we went. My wife went once way back in high school, she found that she enjoyed it too. She's an artist, she paints acrylic on canvas. I write music sing and dance. That's my art form. It was nice to see such a diverse collection of painted art as well as crafts. I definitely say get there late morning or early afternoon. The timing of that seems to work well. We went to a late breakfast prior, and then drove straight there. We got there around 10:50am or so, then by the time we were done at 1:50pm, we were ready for a light lunch. Sacramento was filled with things to do right here at home. Oftentimes for anniversary celebrations, I book something out of town or some sort of a mini trip. This year we decided we wanted to stay close to home. We filled our day with breakfast, crocker Art museum, walking around downtown, riding scooters downtown, little clothes shopping, a movie, a fun hip place for dinner and dessert and then home. It was a lovely day. I think about it often. It was really just nice to be out with my wife like this. We have five kids, this felt good. Kind of like just dating again just being young and fun. I look forward to many more memories with her like this :-)

This was a fun museum to check out in Sacramento. There are exhibits for every kind of art lover. My personal favorite was the ballroom, which was decorated and restored beautifully. If you’re visiting the city for the first time I would say this museum is a must

Not a huge art fan, but there were some interesting pieces to view. The Richard Jackson exhibit was particularly odd - may want to skip if you have young kids with you. Some of the older artwork is impressive, and definitely take time to go into the old Crocker house - the building is quite extraordinary, check out the size and thickness of the beautiful wood doors.

I've lived in Sacramento my whole life and somehow had never been to the Crocker Art Museum. I have walked and driven past it numerous times and have always wondered if it was worth a visit and I finally know that the answer is a resounding YES! This is a wonderful place to visit solo, with friends and family, with kids, etc. There's something for everyone to see. The docent led tours are a must for newbies and there is even a special tour for kids that is offered on the 1st and 3rd sunday of every month. My 6 and 7 year old children loved it and stayed engaged throughout the approximately 1 hour long tour through the 2nd and 3rd floors of the museum. The docent was very knowledgeable about the exhibits and the local history and made it fun for kids and adults. There is a large courtyard area for kids to eat and run around outside and an indoor tots area with playhouses and other montessori inspired toys. There's a small cafe inside but food and drinks must be enjoyed on the 1st floor only. Overall this is a great place to visit to see art and learn about local history for a reasonable price.

A lot of fine art and a three hour walk within the building and I feel like we still didn’t get to look at everything. There’s so much to see so many beautiful paintings, historical artifacts, and sculptures. It’s a nice place for a family get together to go really see some history, there was a story about a Native American woman whose son was taken from her and placed in a Catholic church school It really caught my attention.

Was so surprised at how great this not-so-little museum is! We expected to be in and out in less than 2 hours, but spent 3 and still didn’t see everything. I particularly enjoyed the explanations accompanying each work — by far the best I’ve seen (and I’m a pretty frequent museum-goer), and I found that taking the time to read the blurbs really enhanced my understanding of the work. From explanations about the artists’ lives and influences, historical and political implications, and discussions of the materials used, these write-ups also included tips of what to look for — some of which I otherwise would have missed. This is a great way to spend an afternoon — whether you’re a visitor to Sacramento, or a resident who just hasn’t visited the Crocker yet!

I went with my father who is not an art museum person, and he said it was the most fun he had at a museum. The art is very diverse. Unlike art museums I’ve been to where each floor has a theme, it seemed to me at this one each room had a theme; which kept it from getting monotonous. I really enjoyed and art was beautiful.

Enormous museum. Had an amazing day at the museum, there was a band playing jazz on the main patio. The rooms I enjoyed more were the dedicated to contemporary art. Also enjoy a lot the room of ceramics and the Asian Art exposition.

Parking is the only issue I've run into. After 6pm there's a good lot, but it's only relevant on Thursdays when the gallery is open late. I love this place, I've visited the museum multiple times since my childhood, it's definitely my favorite art museum in the state

Exceptional museum and one of Sacramento's finest cultural centers. The range and depth of the Crocker's collection rivals those of even the largest museums. The integration of the Crocker Mansion into the museum is spectacular and really gives you a taste of life in the 1800s. Go and go often!

One of the best museums I’ve ever been to and the best one in Sac. What’s really cool is that they cater to kids with a couple of rooms downstairs for them to play in and their Happy Noon Year celebration is amazing for kids. Highly recommended.

I absolutely loved this museum! What a gem! I was visiting Sac City from out of town and the Crocker happened to be open late on a Thursday night. Wow! The building is gorgeous inside and out. The collection of California landscape paintings from the Hudson River School to present is impressive. Great collection of European art and modern art as well. Very affordable. I can't wait to stop by again next time I am in town.

I will warm you that the parking in some of the lots has a quirk: as of this writing, the meter in front of your parking space is NOT the one you pay and isn't always clearly marked. A couple years ago I payed the meter and the $42 ticket.

I've gone here twice, and both times was an educational experience. I thought I had explored the whole museum, but I was wrong.the second time I found a few hidden spots, and noticed some things that I didn't before, like the sink below the hair wreath. Out of any museum I reccomend this one if you're having a hard time picking. This place is the best. I'd add photos but then that defeats the purpose...so just go.

Sacramento's premiere art museum. Great mixture of styles in two buildings: The Crocker family's 19th century Victorian house, and a modern new building across the courtyard. Something for everyone, and lot of great programs as well.

Love going here, they're always so friendly, they have great exhibits and events, and the museum itself is beautiful. I always geek out on the detailed ceilings and woodwork of the older section of the museum.

After living in the greater Sacramento area for over 30 years, we made our first visit to the Crocker art museum today, and we enjoyed it thoroughly. We mainly wanted to see the special exhibit, but the museum has an impressive and diverse collection of artwork. Check them out online for details, highly recommended!

A great museum. My 2nd visit only because I live on the other coast. I enjoy the California centric art in particular.

I like the Crocker museum, the exhibits are wonderful to see. Amazing pieces of art of all different types. The shocking part is that this is the only Museum within the state capital of California the fourth or fifth largest economy in the world. The parking lot or park to the north of the Crocker museum should be turned into a new museum with even more beautiful art. Parking could be underground.

Our family had a very relaxing, and beautiful experience here. The museum is as beautiful, and clean as it was when i visited as a child. There is so much beautiful art and architecture to look at. We came for a classical concert on a Sunday. Highly recommend if you are in Sacramento.

A very wonderful place to lose yourself for a day. It's a whole day's worth of exploring wonderful pieces of art. There are three levels. The first floor does not have much art to look at because it's more of a welcoming venue with a gift shop. We went to the third floor and explored the California art. Beautiful pieces and beautiful 3D sculptures. Unique pottery. I was impressed by the Giant flood furniture exhibit. Created by Portier and stymis between 1876 through 1878. It's called the flood furniture set-such intricate designs carved into the wood takes your mind away to another place in time. There were so many things to see and read about the artists that I did not complete the whole museum experience in one day. I will return to see the other floor and the rest of the California.

It is an outstanding art institution. Its spacious galleries contain collection of various periods and nations: from the nations of antiquity inhabiting Eurasia, Africa, Americas to the European Renaissance, the Colonialism, the Enlightenment, the Industrial Age, the New Age, and the Modern Art. Large galleries are devoted to the Early Californian period and the Modern Arts. I was deeply impressed by the incredible collection of modern pottery and the exhibits in the Another World compartment.

Beautiful location to explore. Combines modern with Victorian, so easy to get lost in the art. It's a place I could stay for hours, lighting was never too harsh but never so dark that I couldn't see the art. Great collections with beautiful sections. Easily will go more than once.

Very nice museum with an impressive collection of ceramics as well as a huge variety of paintings. The modern areas are not as impressive building-wise, but the art is impressive on its own.

It’s free on Sunday and parking is free as well. It’s a good place to look at some cool art if your into that sorta thing. No huge wildly popular artists a lot of local stuff however. It’s hard to find parking and it gets a tad bit crowded. It’s a cool place though I personally enjoyed it.

Great place to roam around and enjoy art. They also have special events, special exhibits, and work shop classes for kids at the museum. Recently, they had the Lee Alexander McQueen exhibit and a fashion show with local designers. Very cool!

I really enjoyed Crocker Art Museum. They have a wide range of artists on display, and they are all unique from modern to classic, from tribal to nuevo. Plus the street parking nearby is only 25 cents for an hour.
