This is a great museum. We have been to many many museums while here from the U.S. Some are fancy modern commercial buildings with electronic audio devices and others are small non-profit organizations in older buildings. I really didn't have high hopes for this one when we pulled up, and was curious why the were two guard dogs penned up close by. HOWEVER, this museum has absolutely without a doubt the most original authentic WW II relics of all of the other museums combined! There are relics here that I have not seen in any other museum anywhere. If you anywhere in the country, make the effort and visit this one for sure.

The first impression was... well... but we really found a gem! The €12 entrance fee initially seemed like a lot to me, but you have to keep in mind that this small museum has to be completely self-supporting. Anyone expecting large exhibits like in Overloon will be disappointed, but there are an enormous number of exhibits with interesting details and stories. We were lucky to have a very committed volunteer at our side who had a lot to say and made it very interesting, so we spent a good two hours there. I cannot understand the criticism I have read several times about unrestored archaeological finds - on the one hand you can restore things that are broken, on the other hand it is often not worth restoring things. So I found the apparent pile of β€œjunk” just behind the entrance quite fitting! There was also criticism that you weren't allowed to take photos inside. This wasn't a problem during our visit, we were just asked not to use the flash. Labels were not only in Dutch, but also in English and German. Some of the showcases actually seem overloaded, but that doesn't detract from the whole thing, it just looks harmonious! It's not a "high-gloss temple" like the Airborne Museum Hartenstein, but a private collection that has its own charm. Repeat cannot be ruled out :-)

This is without doubt the best war related museum I have ever visited, all genuine finds and excellently displayed in an almost of the time atmosphere ,no mock up displays here, a true credit to the one man who collected all these items and is still collecting. I cannot recommend enough a visit to this fascinating museum you will not be disappointed.

A truly impressive connection of World War Two era memorabilia, uniforms, and guns - lots and lots of guns. A great stop for a military enthusiast, but as a private collection lacking some of the 'polish' you might get at other museums. The owner was around and very friendly / happy to talk about his collection. Overall a decent stop!

Absolutely outstanding museum! There are so many artefacts on display that it's difficult to take it all in initially but the manager of the museum took time to talk to us as we viewed and explained a number of details when we asked. As well as pieces recovered after the battle there are also items from the actual occupation. I left feeling I knew a little more about the battle but also with a huge amount of respect for those people that took the time to collect and curate this collection.

A fantastic beautiful private museum with cupboards, rooms and other spaces full and full of interesting things, we received a private tour from (from my memory Tigcho?) Where he could explain everything to us about each room, it gives an extra story to everything beautiful things there. We were able to enjoy a beautiful story of everything that was there for 2 hours. Definitely worth a visit, I haven't been able to enjoy and learn from a museum so much in a long time! Thanks for the volunteers who work there, it was great!

Very interesting museum. Just how a museum should be. Very nice people and a nice personal touch to have our own tour guide. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful time. Highly recommended.

Fascinating! All kinds of WW2 artifacts and historical items from the Operation Market Garden that happened in Arnhem in 1943-44. Including Hitlers couch and paintings.

Pricey trip. Quite an Array of things, packed actually . The Tour Guide was wonderful. Great speaking, very friendly younger man with a beard. The museum is packed full of ww2 equipment, uniforms, signs, letters and so much from the action around the Arnhem Area. The garage at the start was nice as they runs Nd the tour guide was there to greet us. The upsets was Absolutely the entry free. €25 we paid EACH!!! Sure you can argue the amount of content but the Tank Museum in England was Β£15 for warehouses full of tanks. This was a medium sized ex schoolhouse with things the owner is supposed to have found. Lots of community donation and we have already come 20 minutes out from the town centre. I understand upkeep costs but these items have all been sitting round for a while. Plus there are not only memorabilia sales but antique ww2 things to buy. However if someone tells me the museum doesn't get much foot traffic I can understand and will be happy if I have contributed to a museum that could do with the help. There wasn't much of a gift shop at the end. Books and some LEGO which is cool. I would have liked some Airborne Gifts (Hip flasks, patches etc). So apart from the entry fee which should DEFINITELY be lowered We had a good time and the tour guide explained everything wonderfully and spoke great english. You will need to hand in your bags at the start of the tour

An interesting collection in itself, unfortunately a lot of it is not labeled and if so only in Dutch. English would have been great. Rooms are far too dark and showcases are overloaded. Many of them are unrestored finds, so most of them are deteriorating and look like junk from the Ludolfs. For €10 it's not enough and you're not allowed to take any photos, except from the outside.

A good place to go, nice people who work there with passion, they are volunteers, when I went a while ago there were 2 boys who cycled from Apeldoorn to Apeldoorn!? Great, that's having a passion for your hobbies, highly recommended

An unpolished gem. The museum has an incredible collection of weapons, equipment and memorabilia related to the Netherlands in WWII (including some very interesting and very rare piece). Unfortunately, this let down by the lack of curatorship. Pieces are poorly displayed with no explanation, labels which are either only in Dutch only or are labelled incorrectly without any sense of coherent them to each display / room. With a small investment of time, money and thought this museum could be truly exceptional. Would not recommend for anyone without a deep understanding of WWII as the lack of explanation reduces the museum to display cabinets jam packed with weapons and other pieces of war memorabilia with little to no educational value. Visitors with more knowledge of WWII (particularly infantry weapons) will still find it very interesting.

This is not a museum but a private collection by well-meaning archeological amateurs. About half of the items were dug out of the ground some 30-40 years ago and put on display (half deteriorated) without too much relevant information added. The only positive note on the place is the staff, who entertain you with stories and background information that is sorely lacking from the displays. Most bizar is the "museum shop" where you can buy e.g. a german war helmet for 1100 euro's, but with totally unclear provenance: you might well be buying a fake.

Surprising find, by chance, and was totally blown away with what we found in this museum! It is packed with artifacts from WW2....even items belonging to Hitler himself! Had an amazing guided tour! This place is a must-see!

Absolutely stunning war museum, one of my favorites and i've been to many. A lot of items to look at incl many rare pieces of equipment. Many are local finds or ground dug, the owner of the collection took his time to talk to us and called a privat guide for us, a young man with great knowledge that spoke perfect English! Very recommendable, we visited the place as couple with a 9 year old, and we all enjoyed it.

Very good for a small museum, never seen so many weapons in one place, would return again,no photos allowed inside, but I took a few after the lady in charge gave me the wink of an eye,10 euros entry, there is a coffee and merchandise shop if you wanted a break

What an awesome place . Spent a good 3.5 hours looking through a fantastic collection , friendly staff with great knowledge and time to talk. Ive been to many museums like this but this has to be the best with soooo many pieces . I was told it is only small but i was mis-guided as it is rammed full with descriptions in English , dutch and German on most of the displays . Sat afterwards having a coffee facing a plane that is outside relaxing and thoughts of the history of how the collection came to be . Absolutely 100% recommend a visit if you are in the area BUT allow a few hours to take in what you are seeing . For a collector of military pieces like myself it is a little gem .. i will definitely be visiting again to view this privately owned collection as it needs the funds and support to remain open to tell the story of the struggles mainly of Arnhem and surrounding area . Never to be forgotten πŸ™πŸ» 10 out of 10 marks in my book Thankyou πŸ‘ŒπŸ»
