This was my first time in Asheville and after a 7-hour drive I was pleasantly surprised with some really good food that made the entire drive worth it! The hotel staff recommended that I give this place a try and it was simply amazing! I started with the deviled eggs and the flavor today was Caesar salad and they were to die for. I also had an old fashioned that came with a brown sugar rim. I would highly recommend that you try this drink. For my entree I got the bison meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy. The meatloaf was absolutely phenomenal, and I'm sorry Grandma but they just cooked you out of the kitchen! I also have to mention the gravy on the potatoes as it was pretty amazing also. So good that I would actually eat this gravy off the floor. I will definitely be back before I leave for home to try something else off the menu.

My husband and I had dinner here around 4 pm on a Friday, and fortunately there was no wait for a table and we got seated immediately. We shared the Beer Pretzel as an appetizer, which was awesome. I had the Bison meatloaf as my entree, and I loved it. My husband had a bison burger and loved it too. Our waiter was very friendly, too. Highly recommend this restaurant. Awesome food and lots of seating! The hostess originally seated us outside near a family with very loud small children, so I just asked if we could be moved to a quieter area and they quickly accommodated us.

Love Pack’s Tavern. This place was packed on a Monday night and they have a ton of seats. They had an amazing menu and I couldn’t decide what I wanted so we shared wings, mac & cheese and nachos. Everything was absolutely delicious. They also have a really great drink and beer list. The service was fantastic too.

The Brisket Mac n Cheese is so good. Literally the best mac I've ever had, and the blackberry BBQ sauce in the brisket is excellent. The Beer Cheese Philly and fries were awesome. Our brownie with homemade vanilla ice cream was the perfect ending to such a great meal. Wonderful staff and a cool atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

Not a bad spot for happy hour. Great service and pretty nice interior. Very casual and comfortable after a long day of traveling and exploring for us. Loved the Mexican corn dip and the deviled eggs. Sounds like they have weekly specials with their deviled eggs and this week was a green eggs and ham theme. They were phenomenal. Would one hundred percent recommend going just for those honestly. Now for my standard comments. The location is clean and we were comfortable with the indoor seating options.

Brought a pup and sat in the back patio on a gorgeous summer day. Colby was our waiter and was a delight. Ordered the nachos with steak and the Thai salad with unseasoned chicken (for the dog) Both great, the steak bits were good. Doggo seemed happy with his chicken. We burned through two cans of summer bubbles and a bottle of bubbles. Colby kept our water cups full and checked in on us frequently. It was so great to sit out by the fountain and listen to the kids shriek their way through the water while I watched a guy on a unicycle juggle. I can see what the fuss is about, it's a fun vibe, the food is solid, and the people watching is prime. Excited to go back and see what it's like inside.

A staple in the heart of downtown Asheville and a truly enjoyable experience every time I return. The food was easily the best we've had during our visit to town and came out extremely quickly. I highly recommend the brisket Mac & cheese. Drinks were phenomenal and the atmosphere was amazing. We followed our stop at Packs with stroll through downtown still talking about how delicious our food was.

Came for dinner on a weekday and it wasn’t that busy so we got seated promptly. Our waiter was helpful and attentive. They have a lot of food options so I ordered Buck’s double burger with fries. It was good! The food portion was great. Glad they didn’t took a long time to prepare it. I didn’t order any beer or cocktail this time maybe next time I will come back to visit. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, it’s family friendly. It was my first time visiting this restaurant in Asheville.

When you have the confidence to serve your brisket with a spoon, you KNOW what you're serving and how you're serving it. This was our first meal upon arriving in Ashville. Pack's has the location, the atmosphere, and the food. They have an almost unfair advantage, but they are at least utilizing it to the fullest. I had the brisket mac, I spent most of my time just salivating with it in my mouth with a stupid grin on my face. My wife had a burger, she asked for medium well and she got medium well. The outdoor dining space was just as exciting as the indoor space. The host private events, they have a stone pizza oven, and the drinks were also top notch. My compliments to the chef. They also serve a house made Root Beer, weirdly enough I am a fan of custom brewed root beers and cream sodas and this one wasn't half bad, on the sweet side. The service is the only thing that could use some honing. The server staff was completely average. Hospitable enough, just nothing to brag about. We had two meals here over our 5 days, and the server forgot to put in my appetizer, they opted to let me have it with my dinner or cancel it. They made little effort to rectify the mistake, the only notable part of the experience was that I didn't find out about the mistake until roughly a minute before my actual meal arrived. Overall still a great experience and worth a visit if you are in the area.

Had an awesome waitress.. wish I remembered her name.. However, all of the employees we interacted with were awesome. Service was great especially for us having a large party. Everything we ordered was delicious and the portions were right on. What was really impressive was that one meal was ordered to be split and it was served that way. We got two regular plates with the meal already divided.. Nice touch. Prices definitely reasonable for the quality of the food and level of service. Covered patio dining available which allows Pack's to be pet friendly

FANTASTIC PLACE! I love the vibe of the area, but Pack's just encompasses it in a multi- sensory way. The vintage building pulls you in and keeps you interested just looking around...but the combination of killer appetizers, vast selection of beer on tap, and outstanding entrees keeps you there. The memorable pickle chips (I know it's silly) are the reason we came back when we found ourselves in the area 2 years after our initial meal. We all really enjoyed our meals (2 different pizzas) but mine was EXTRAORDINARY...the Brisket Mac & cheese was amazing! Decent prices and great service round out our dining experience here...highly recommend and we'll be back!

Staff was so sweet. Bartenders attentive. Would definitely love to come back and check out more of their happy hour specials! Nice place to escape the heat or hang out on the back patio when there’s nice weather!

We sat outside in July Overlooking the fountain with a beautiful breeze for lunch. Hubs had the pineapple pizza and I have the half Ruben with a Ceasars salad. Everything was on point. Flavorful and perfect portions. We added a side of fries which were amazing. He had a IPA beer that was citric in flavor, while I tried the special margarita - Excellent on both counts. Waitress was attentive but not hovering. Well done.

Very good service and the food was great! Would highly recomend the vegetarian phili sandwich and the spinach dip! They also have a great alcohol selection and they took a lot of covid precautions that made me feel very safe during this pandemic!

Fantastic food, we had the spinach dip, pot roast and the blackened chicken pasta. We were seated quickly and the restaurant is large and lovely. Great atmosphere. Kenny was our server. The couple ahead of us asked for the best server in the house but I think they got jipped because Kenny was clearly better. Not over the top, not a slacker, there when we needed him, attentive, helpful and kind. Great guy. Thanks, Kenny!

This place is nothing short of amazing! If you’re visiting Asheville, please make sure you come to Packs. My party and I had the pleasure to be serviced by the vocally talented Franklin. Franklin provided impeccable and caring service from beginning to end of our meal and met all of our requests. He was gracious enough to sing Happy Birthday to one of our party members and it was amazing! Also, the brisket and Mac N Cheese is the best! A lot of restaurants claim they’re known for a certain food item and don’t usually deliver, but Packs absolutely walks their talk! Will definitely visit again the next time I’m in Asheville. Thank you Pack’s Tavern you owe me nothing! 👏👏

I would review Pack's as 10 stars if I could! Pack's came very highly recommended. We were seated quickly. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. We ordered the corn dip as an appetizer - yumm! I ordered the Buffalo mac and cheese and my husband ordered the fish and chips. Both were SO GOOD. The brisket on my mac and cheese was the BEST I've ever had.

AMAZING FOOD!! The only downside to the pot roast was there wasn't more potatoes. Even though it was so much food I couldn't eat it all I still wanted more. Pretzel was so good I ate half before I got a picture, and the wife loved her fish. Atmosphere is great. Server was awesome. Even sat down to recommend some places to visit while in town. Plenty of tvs if you want to watch a game. Just a great spot.

My Husband & our 3 yr old really enjoyed this spot. It was cozy and filled with the most amazing energy!! There was no strangers everyone even other customers were nice to each other I simply loved it. The food was really delicious and our server was Awesome and the Manager that was on duty that night was so accommodating. I highly recommend this place and it’s kid friendly you’ll love it 😊!!

This place is simply AMAZING! I went to Asheville for a few days and had to come here twice. Everything on the menu is a hit (especially the bison meatloaf). I loved the food, the drinks, the staff and the measures they take for COVID. I will definitely go back anytime I'm in Asheville!

Overall: fantastic food and service, very affordable for the quality of food, although we wish they would bring live music back or play more on the speakers. We got mozzarella sticks for an app, there were five of them, big enough to share and enough cheese for half a meal. Loved these and the included marinara was very good as well. The brisket mac and cheese was absolutely amazing. The brisket was tender and the perfect amount of sweet from the blackberries, and the mac and cheese added just the right amount of savory. The aftertaste of the brisket was wonderful, I was able to take in every bite fully without needing another right away. It looks like a small portion but I was ravenous and still only got 3/4 of the way through the pan as it is very rich and filling. For dessert we got a cheesecake which was rich and a good portion, and their seven layer chocolate cake which is definitely sharing size especially if you add a scoop of ice cream on top. Delicious all around! The drinks are great, with a wide variety of cocktails, ale, and locally sourced beer on tap. Lavender lemonade was as expected, the jungle juice was quite good if a little overpriced, and the waitress let us sample beers before we chose a full glass. The service was quick and our waitress was very nice, helpful when trying to choose drinks and obviously well versed in the food, it's contents, and each item's popularity, having a few favorites of her own. We never ran out of water, either, which was much appreciated. The atmosphere was good, although the staff told us that they stopped doing live music after covid. My table agreed that live music, or at least some local music playing over the speakers, would've really completed a local Asheville classic. Beautiful place even without it, the lighting wasn't too dim and the decorations helped create a tavern feel. Will definitely be coming here again when we're in the area. 100% worth it for the affordable price, excellent service, and delectable food.

Super happy with our experience there today. Staff was nice and kept coming back to check on us. The giant mozzarella sticks were AMAZING! Pizza was good as well and wow that Mac n cheese!!!! All and all wonderful experience and will definitely come back!

We visited Asheville for our anniversary and the sweet woman at Enterprise suggested we stop here for lunch. The place is super cool inside and our bartender was the sweetest thing! The food was delicious and prompt. Our bartender was attentive and helpful when we were deciding on beer selections and food options. Having lunch here was a great start to our vacation!

  • 4/5 Celust F. 10 months ago on Google
Great bar! The beer selection was vast and the service was wonderful! The food was decent and they had it prepared quickly despite being packed to the gills. The only downside is they don't offer French fries as a side without an upcharge.

  • 4/5 Ashley M. 11 months ago on Google
The food was good once we finally got it. Our server was obviously struggling to keep up with the amount of tables he was juggling. It was a busy Sunday around 4:00. The sweet potato tots were new to me and delicious. I had a tasty Rueben sandwich and my daughter had the club with Mac n cheese. She thought the Mac n cheese was bland. The outdoor dining was good for us out of towners.

Pack’s Tavern is a historic building with great atmosphere in a fun part of town. On the south side down the steps they have lots of TVs with most the games on you want to watch. Great selection of libations and can’t go wrong on their starters. The Elotee corn dip is absolutely delicious. I could have ate another one or should have used that as my side. Their sides could use some work and creativity but still a 4 star spot.

Best food I've had in a while. The wait was short, the service was good, and the food was perfect. The only regret I have is sharing the beef brisket with my husband! The mac and cheese was sooooo creamy.

Best meal I had in Ashville! Great service and fantastic atmosphere - dog-friendly! Once I saw meatloaf on the menu, I was sold. And it was delicious. I had the bison/buffalo meatloaf with their mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. It was delicious and the perfect comfort food. They also have delicious cocktails AND non-alcoholic beverages - WIN! My server was lovely and attentive. And the outside seating area was great - especially with the furry friends hanging out. Will absolutely come back here on my next visit.

My first impression was overhearing the general manager handling the most outrageously rude woman with grace and courtesy she did not deserve. Well done Mr Dixon! On top of that, the food was way better than I had expected. Our server was wonderful too! So happy with my experience!

Other than them being mask nazis the place is great, the food and service were fabulous! I’m glad I don’t live in NC because of their ridiculous mask rules... because wearing a mask until I get a drink in front of me makes that much of a difference... smh.

Pack’s is ok but being made to stand outside to wait for a table in the 30 degree weather with my elderly mother is not. The guy who was a host was a rude guy. There are plenty of restaurants in Asheville that are on par or better than this place.

We really enjoyed the restaurant and the food. Great customer service. We're two families visiting from FL and VA and wanted to find a dining establishment that was locally known for good food and not a chain restaurant. I highly recommend as it fed 11 of us and it was only slightly more than a 100 bucks!

Great atmosphere, great people, and great food! Everyone was friendly, our server was on top of his game and even offered us to go cups! We originally thought we'd get dessert but dinner was so filling we didn't make it that far. Did I mention the food was amazing!? I'd go back again in a heart beat!

I’m from Florida and their Thanksgiving Dinner buffet was better than home made! Excellent specialty cocktails nicely complimented the food. The entire experience from calling to make a reservation with Kelsey, dining at the bar with welcoming conversation from Eric, Jeff and Renalda, to dessert was a 5 star experience. A must do for visitors or natives of the area.

The Supreme pizza was probably one of the best pizzas I have ever had! In 48 years of testing pizzas, that’s a tall claim. Lucky for me, I had to share my pizza with my son and he shared his brisket Mac and Cheese! Wow!!! That was the best Mac and cheese ever! The blackberry BBQ sauce was great! This won hands down over the pizza! We live 2 hours away from Pack’s but would do a road trip just for dinner!!!

  • 4/5 Chris M. 3 years ago on Google
Great food. Bison meatballs appetizer was deliciously tender and dressed with nice sweet garlicky marinara. Very good beef stroganoff. Burger was good but slightly overcooked. Portion size was very big. Service was friendly and prompt. We were seated upstairs which was the worst part of the whole experience. No atmosphere up there. Definitely going to ask to be seated downstairs next time!

  • 5/5 Robert P. 3 years ago on Google
The food was great, service was great, and experience was great too. Only downside was having to wait an hour and 15 minutes for a party of 7 (3 of which bring hungry kids.) That was because of COVID on a weekend, so not their fault, so we waited in the warm car. I knew the food would be good if there were people standing outside in below freezing temps waiting for a table! I'd rather wait 2 hours for an AWESOME MEAL rather than get an ok meal with no wait.

  • 5/5 Kacee S. 3 years ago on Google
The food is fantastic (blackberry brisket mac n'cheese tho), the service it's great, and currently all of the tables are spaced 12 feet apart. There's also someone stationed at the door to inform everyone coming in that masks are required whenever you're not actively eating/drinking. I felt safe, and I had really nice night out for the first time in about a year. Highly recommend!

Staff were attentive and accommodating. Jeff was a pleasure! Food and prices were equal to cost and quantity. Food was amazing. We had the corn dip which was phenomenal. Then we had the chicken cobb salad and grilled chicken strawberry pecan salad which were delicious. I also had the BlackBerry blossom (vodka) which was smooth and tasteful and my fiance had the wicked wheat lunatic blonde which was crisp, light and vibrant. We will definitely come back!

The first time my family ordered I got the lobster mac and cheese, hubs got the cajun chicken alfredo, and the kid got the chicken tenders. It was all fantastic. We all agreed they were the best chicken tenders any of us had ever had. Large chunks of lobster, and wonderfully seasoned cajun pasta. The second time I got the beer cheese philly (I can't remember what hubs got and child passed). It was really good but nothing like one might expect a philly cheesesteak to be, the beer cheese was delicious, and the sandwich over all was a bit salty (I like salt). This last time I got the stroganoff and the hubs and kid stuck with what they know. My stroganoff is wonderfully peppery. The onions are caramelized perfectly and the wine is just a hint in the back. Everything else was a good as expected. I have yet to be disappointed here!

I’m from out of town. I had an 8 hour drive to Asheville. Checked in at my air bnb and really wanted to go somewhere I could bring my dog, have an awesome beer, and watch the nfc play off game. Well. This was my first try. And it did not disappoint! They have a heated, enclosed patio that welcomes dogs! And has TVs! My server, Max, recommended the perfect beer to match my palette which is rather selective (a sweet but not too hoppy Amber) he recommended the highland Gaelic ale and it’s just what I wanted. It’s been a heck of a game, and Max and all the servers have welcomed my dog so much! Brought him water and taken turns petting him. This is just what the doctor ordered after almost two years without a vacation. Max also has hooked me up with some Buffalo shrimp which aren’t on the menu but said he would ask the kitchen staff if they could make it happen. I’ve been craving these! Thank you for being so awesome Max! I’m so thankful for this time in Asheville and you have made it start off tenfold :)

Just adding to the stellar reviews! We ordered the following to-go: haddock fish fry (so hard to find in the south!), strawberry salad, blackened chicken pasta, chicken fingers, and peanut butter pie. Everything was SO GOOD! The fish fry and tarter sauce might be the best I've had in NC! Packaged well with hot items in one sealed bag, cold items in another, and all sides in their own containers. The order was able to be made online and it was done on time. Customer service was great; everyone was super nice. Bonus: mask wearing was on point!
