A lovely historic theater in the heart of the city. In the past it was the national opera house but now belongs to the municipality of Athens. It is renovated and in a very good location, very easy to visit it by metro (Panepistinio station). Tickets are inexpensive and some times they offer invitations for free. Spend a little time to admire the Maria Callas exhibition at the first's floor foyer.

The theatre is quite small, and gets crowded very easily. Seats are crammed closely together, so it can get uncomfortable, especially in the highest balcony. It is beautiful though, and some of the performances are quite good.

Landmark theatre of Athens - originally built as the home for the lyric Opera that now moved south to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center. This place is now operated by the city of Athens and has undergone a renovation that kept the original feeling. Very active musical theater that also serves as the home of the city’s bands - the philarmonic and the Jazzy Athens Big Band

Beautiful. Well made documentary of Callas. Extra bonus: the Christmas musical fountain show!

The performance of Idomeneus was magnificent! The theatre is in need of refurbishment... The seats are extremely uncomfortable, lots of stairs, the toilets clean but dated

We went there for kids' theater. The theater is always good. We enjoyed it a lot. But in the downtown of athens, parking is always the challenge.

renovated old-style theater in Athens. if you love classical music, be sure to study the poster of this theater. they come across real diamonds! since the theater is of old construction, it is better to sit in the stalls or on the balcony opposite the stage.

A historic place. National Opera has been performing in the theatre for decades and is going to change in 2017. The new home of National Opera is ready. Don't miss the chance to visit one of the last performances.

This theater has hosted many amazing performances. Not as modern as places such as the national opera or Megaro mousikis, but it is still a comfortable, warm place to enjoy music and plays.

👍👍 My favorite theater in Athens. The building is amazing and the time you spend there always with hight quality. The area is not that safe but it worth it. Take the metro and choose omonia metro station. It is like 2’ walking from there. Do not hesitate to take an outside photo and of course to enjoy...

😠 2 words I will say only ignorance of danger. Staff who believe that the mask is a simple accessory and can be worn as it suits everyone. Standing customers indoors show off their dancing skills on top of each other as if we do not have Tsiodras informing us every day about the cases. I will not com...
