Let me first start by saying I was a long time customer until today. The food that I received today is not the same food I received a few months ago, I ordered the 3 bone rib sandwich and only received 2 bones, the ribs had no smoke flavor, the meat was hard and very greasy. The mac and cheese...no flavor, the collard greens was good the only thing I liked. My wife called to make a complaint and they hung the phone up. Something has really changed at this establishment. so that sums up my experience you lost a long time customer

Came here right before a GSU football game and enjoyed it. I must not have paid attention to the menu because I ordered the pulled pork dinner, but I thought it was a sandwich. Came with a large portion of pork and the chef was nice enough to provide a bun since I was hoping for a sandwich. I had french fries and mac for sides and they were good, but nothing special. I love how spacious the seating area is and you can have tables or booths...plenty of TVs around to watch your game of choice. I thought the pork was delicious but my friend had the pulled turkey and it was moist on the outside, but dry on the inside. Overall, I would recommend trying it, especially if you are in the area.

If you don’t know? Now you know! The most tender brisket sandwiches 🥪 known to mankind! Facts! ….and the hospitality, bar none! Excellent. Thank you again.

Bought ribs only. Ribs were meaty, not over done, you get the entire bone including the rib tip which was nice. Would like to ha e better smoke flavor, not really seasoned, however for me the spicy BBQ sauce did the job. Not bad but not great, however I would go back again

The food was very good! The different sauces were amazing. Brunswick Stew and Brisket were delicious! They played good contemporary Christian music. Will definitely come back if in the area!!

Customer service was great. The food and sweet tea was terrible. This was a first and last for me. I came in with my husband who use to stop by years ago. My rib tips was nasty and full of fat. My green beans was hard(not done) and tasteless. Thanks but no thanks!

Let’s start off with the food. A+++. This is by far some of the best BBQ I have had since I been in Atlanta!!! I ordered a Catfish and Brisket combo with Mac and cheese and Baked beans. The catfish was cooked to perffffffffffection!!! Like it should be a crime to be this good. Brisket is top notch flavored and juicy. The staff was absolutely! M.A. is absolutely one of the nicest people you will meet. He helped me customize my plate and gave that true southern hospitality you appreciate from the south! I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Wife and I came here around noon today (Tuesday Feb. 16 in the eternal year of our Covid 2021). Parking was easy as they have a large parking lot attached to the restaurant with at least 20 spaces. Only a few customers inside so we put our anti-covid-superpandemic-eradicater masks on and went straight up to the counter to order. Menu is typical BBQ joint, with full menu of goodies - pulled pork, brisket, chopped chicken, cole slaw, baked beans, etc. My wife ordered the spare rib plate with green beans and Brunswick stew, also comes with cornbread. Ribs were a little dry but tasty - they come without sauce, you add the sauce, the stew was excellent and the green beans are the flat kind, but had a nice smoky flavor to them, a little underseasoned but still good. Cornbread was sweet, and moist not dry (I had to use the word MOIST - say it with me..."moist"...see don't you feel better after saying MOIST more than once today? You're welcome). I had the chopped chicken plate with potato salad and coleslaw as my sides. Chopped chicken was a little underflavored and not enough sauce, so I added some of their sweet sauce later, so that turned out better. I like coleslaw on my BBQ samminch - yes I said samminch. SLAWBQ! The slaw was pretty good, a little more mayo and couple degrees colder would have been perfect but it was good. The only thing I didn't enjoy at first was the potato salad - I guess pandemics make people stop putting mustard in potato salad. I'm pretty picky about my tater-salad, and this was a letdown as it was probably made with mayo/sourcream/dill...not very southern (where's the MUSTARD?) so what I did was I went over to the sauce counter and got some of their "Carolina mustard" BBQ sauce and put that in the potato salad and Bingo it was better. For my drink I had the unsweet tea with lemonade because yeah, tea and BBQ. They do have beer by the bottle but I was driving and didn't want to get a DUI and miss any of the wonderful goings-on in the world right now (lawdy I might have missed something as spectacular as that last superbowl halftime show)! So if you are: 1. Looking for decent BBQ close to downtown 2. A BBQ place to "dine in" 3. A place to park at a BBQ joint without paying $20 to park 4. A no frills place where you won't get the evil-eye for eating without a mask on (yes masks are required to enter but you can take them off to eat, instead of eating by osmosis like many places expect you to lately) 5. Plenty of elbow room in the dining area 6. Good basic counter-service and fast food service ...then this is your joint. Definitely recommend and will be back, with mustard in hand.

What a taste! I am visiting Atlanta on business and was in the mood for Ribs, so I found this gem right about the right distance from my hotel....and oh boy, was I right!!! Tasty Pork Ribs, a superb smoky flavor. I order a half rack with Brisket, Corn Bread.....and my meal was the best! Nice little place right on exit 245 on 75.....so even if you are crossing the city, try to make a stop here......you wont regret it... Owner, I presume was the one that assist me, so was able to fill me with what they offer first timers.....as orders are big enough, especially th ed Full Rack. Indeed, I applause it and give a Big Five!

I had the pulled pork, mac and cheese and the potato salad. The pork was definitely not smoked. It had no smoke flavor and was "wet" like it had been cooked in a crockpot or oven with absolutely no seasoning. It was drenched in a sauce that tasted like watered down Johnny Harris BBQ sauce. The mac and cheese is completely flavorless. No salt, no pepper, no nothing. It's worse than children's menu mac and cheese. The potato salad was just bad. I have no other words to explain it. Potatoes, onions, a LOT of parsley and a runny white dressing that did not even resemble mayo. I left hungry. My husband had the baked potato with pulled pork and he enjoyed the potato but he also said the pulled pork had no flavor and is very wet. I can't comment on staff because once we got our food from the counter we never saw anyone else. We were the only customers.

I started ordering food here in 2018 while I was a sub contractor for GA. State Univ. I'll tell you it's the best. I'd slip out early on Fri. and get lunch. Then my crew caught me and they all said we want to go to. So started Fridays at the The Bullpen. Never received a bad meal here. I recommend this restaurant to all who love barbecue. It's finally Friday and what better place to be than The Bull Pen BBQ. ICE cold beer, and by far the best BBQ in Atlanta and the Metro Area. Very possible the best BBQ in the State of Georgia. The owner and staff are courteous and friendly. My stress is melting away, here comes my food and another cold one. Come on in and join me

They had no ribs, just rib tips that were burned! We didn't know this until we got back to our hotel room. I ordered potato salad and greens, but, instead I got mac and cheese. The bags were tied shut so we could not know what was in our bags! The food was cold, I mean cold!! The food was old and tasteless period! I will NOT BE GOING BACK!!

Bullpen was a great surprise next door to our hotel (a whole other experience I will not repeat). My husband went over both nights of our stay and picked up supper to go. He ate the ribs both nights, and I had a smoked turkey sammich the first night and brisket the next night....sides of fries and potato salad. We enjoyed our meals. Hope to see this restaurant stick around for years to come.

This was my first visit to this place. I tried to find by map since live outside 285 but had to use GPS. It was after lunch crowd at 2pm and other than work crew we were only one there. The aroma upon entering was a blast from past on Auburn Ave days. Good food and very friendly staff. Since renovations going on I could not give 5 stars. If you like southern style barbeque this place is a must to bring out of town visitors. Alert across from Ga State football stadium so look at football schedule for crowd days.

First time coming here today and the food was wonderful! Got a loaded baked potato with brisket and it was Giant. The brisket was amazing, real juicy and tender! My partner got a pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese and he really enjoyed his meal too. The man working the front was super nice, made our experience here great! The prices aren't bad either compared to some of the other bbq places in ATL. Overall we really enjoyed this place!

I just ordered a half a slab of ribs with a hot smoke sausage link through Uber eats. The ribs do not taste like they've been on a barbecue pit at all. No smoke flavor to them at all. I am from Texas. At the bare minimum, the meat should have flavor without sauce. It's bland flavorless. The sausage link is dry. No moisture. I will never eat here again. I do not recommend this to anyone. Not only was it a waste of my time and money, the price point didn't even match this revolting experience.

I generally don’t do reviews but this place deserves it. I have two or three favorite rib spots that I go to when I’m in this particular area of Atlanta. This place was closer today so I tried them out. I have eaten at a lot of different restaurants in a lot of different countries but this place was the worse I have ever had in my life. Ordered the 3 rib plate and got 3 mini ribs with zero flavor. Nothing smoky about them. The Mac and cheese tasted like box Mac n cheese. The greens tasted like trash. I also ordered a pulled pork sandwich and it was even worse. Had no flavor at all. Tasted like they made it in a crock pot with zero seasoning. The meat was chewy and dry. I couldn’t finish anything and ended up going to Wendy’s getting a sandwich since I was starving. Maybe this was just a bad day for them but I’m not returning to find out. I hate wasting money on food but this place was a definite dud. For genuine, flavorful bbq, bypass this place.

I really liked eating here, but they have changed and now everything tastes terrible. The ribs are tough and tasteless. Ordered pulled chicken and really felt like I was served spoiled food. the attention is very bad and the preparation of food is unhealthy. You have lost a customer of several years.

This place is a poor excuse for a restaurant.. Mac and Cheese was barely warm and had no flavor, wings were dry and the sauce was terrible. Pulled pork sandwich was drenched in sauce that had way to much salt.. tea was so sweet you could stand up a spoon in it.. We had a party of 7 and the best thing on the table were the fries. The food was nasty, but the counter service was good.

My son and I stopped on way to Greenville. The brisket was excellent not even needing any sauce. Juicy and tender. They allowed my son to use a table to teach a class by zoom. The gentleman Amar was very friendly and helpful. A definite must if coming through again

OMG!!! I've had a lot of BBQ at different places through Atlanta. This is the best BBQ that I have had yet. The new owner retained the crew that was here so the food has not changed and its amazing!!!

The smoked brisket sandwich was great!!The BBQ sauces, (regular, mustard and spicy were all good) especially the spicy. The potato salad and coleslaw were a little better than OK, but overall, a great place to eat. The service was outstanding, thanks to Ms. Priscilla.

Ordered some wings, rib tips, and brisket sauce on Uber eats, received a pleasant surprise of a small extra side of brisket. Food were all moist, tender, and overall packed with flavor

On this occasion, I asked if the potatoes in the potatoes salad was better. (The potatoes were so hard, seems as if they just cut it and added the extas) but when asking today the front desk person stated that they are roasted instead of boiled. Either way potato salad should never had extra hard potatoes. Unfortunately I will not be back until there's a quality cook.

This is my favorite BBQ restaurant. It's local to the legacy community. It has old Atlanta nostalgia too. I got a Brisket sandwich with fries. Not the healthiest moment but it was definitely good!

The food was phenomenal! I got the medium chicken tenders and they were so good that I went back the very next day for more. Affordable prices with high quality food are some of my favorite places. I will definitely be back in the future.

We stopped here after a long day out with the kids and I have to say that this is the best BBQ I’ve had in a while. Everything was absolutely delicious but the ribs stand out for sure. Definitely gonna recommend it to my friends.

Gross! I don't know who told them that this food was good; but they lied. The pulled pork tasted like vinegar and worchestershire sauce. The baked beans didn't seem like they were actually baked at all and the coleslaw was sour and tart. Although the kitchen staff must have been confused (as they messed up our order), the cashier was very nice and accommodating. The decor was super prosaic and beyond lackluster. The service was the best part about this place.

Had an order of wings delivered and they were delicious! Exactly what we were craving. Not tiny, well sauced and came with lots of ranch. They also threw in a free brownie. Highly recommend!

Really slow service, we were the only patrons. Pulled pork sandwich was luke warm at best, watery coleslaw and Mac and cheese side was slightly warm. Draft beer was flat but they did correct that with bottle of same brand. My companions meal was also luke warm pulled pork, she received wrong side dish.

Food was yum. We got chicken tenders, brisket, ribs, pulled pork, beans, mac and cheese, fried okra and fries - all delicious. Only thing that could have been better was the corn on the cob. But overall, it was very good.

  • 4/5 Dave B. 2 years ago on Google
Brisket was tender and delicious. Pulled pork same. Plenty of both meat and sides. I love corn bread and theirs was excellent. Plenty of sauces for our meat. Good place to watch a game. Great prices! And you can order online.

I'm normally a stickler when it comes to smoked meats, but I must say that The Bullpen has exceeded my expectations. Aside from the food being fantabulos, Omar was friendly and helpful with his recommendations, and the music set a peaceful atmosphere. When I return to the ATL area, I will definitely go out of my way to eat here again!
