We discovered this restaurant from a friend and we’ve been coming to the Tropicana for years. It’s located on the first floor in the Chelsea tower. They offer breakfast and lunch. We ordered a pork roll egg and cheese, a hungry man platter, a grilled cheese and a cheese steak sandwich, everything was very good. The service was excellent. The staff was very friendly and courteous. I would definitely recommend this place for lunch or breakfast.

There are a few locations in Atlantic City, but I like this one right on the water near the Atlantic City aquarium. Small little place, awesome views. Breakfast and lunch menu, reasonably priced and great size portions.

My husband and I came here for breakfast as it came highly recommended. The food was good- I did not feel like it was anything special to be honest. Not the best breakfast I ever had- certainly not the worst. And the atmosphere is nice being next to the water. Our waitress was very attentive- this was also very early however, around 7:30 am, and the place was not crowded. I would come back.

I was referred to this place by an Atlantic City local. It did not disappoint. Phenomenal pancakes, French toast, and omelets. This particular location is right on the water so the ambiance was great and we sat outside and enjoyed the hood weather. Go here! You’ll love it.

Before leaving Atlantic City after Checking Out from Harrah's Resort stopped here for Breakfast. Similar to places like Edie's in Little Silver, NJ and J.B.' s Cousin's in Tom's River, N.J. It's in the Marina Area of the city on Rhode Island Avenue overlooking the water. Food was respectable, service a little lax. Had to get up from the our spot at the counter to request the rye toast ordered with my Italian Omelet Combo and later had to get up again to seek out a waitress to get a refill of coffee after another waitress refilled 2 customers sitting on both sides of us. They might of been busy, but the courtesy of offering the only other customer with a near empty cup a refill would of been appreciated. Also the rye toast brought to me was cold, stuff with minimal butter. Thank Goodness I had gotten the refill, dipped the toast and enjoyed the rest of the meal. Kit's, Banana, Walnuts French Toast and scrambled eggs were uneventful and reported to be delicious.

Dog friendly! Gorgeous view of the boats. Delicious apple cinnamon pancakes. Incredible over stuffed Reuben sandwich. Varied breakfast and lunch menu. Nearby park, boat ride tours. Midweek we were seated immediately. Friendly waitresses.

Gilchrist Restaurant really deserves a 6 star rating. Great service, great people, low prices, and just a beautiful view. What a wonderful way to end our trip to Atlantic City. It is a tremendous value. Our server was so kind, had the crab omelette special which was amazing! Wait was worth it, and a picturesque area to lounge while waiting. Sadly we sat next to someone who was obnoxiously Karening to the max, and the staff handled her appropriately. Will be back!

Best known for their hotcakes, this place was highly recommended. No doubt the place for breakfast in AC. Perfectly cooked omelets and yes the hotcakes were GREAT. SERVICE was wonderful. Highly recommend the place!!

When we first walked in, the short guy kept looking (I don't mean in a good way). I didn't feel welcome and I felt very uncomfortable. The workers all had that same look.... probably bc we were the only Asians in there. The waitress tried to be nice but the vibe was already there. We sat down and we all ordered pancakes, with eggs n ham/bacon. The food was good except for the home fries.

Good morning from Atlantic city New Jersey!! After hearing about Gilchrist for quite some time I decided to come and try it out. Located near the Atlantic city Aquarium in the Historic Garden basin , you can park and you're a walking distance to the boat rides, paragliding, the Aquarium and other eating establishments. We were greeted the the host and she sat us right away. Then quickly greeted by waitress #1 and she got our drink orders and informed us of the day specials. Our drinks were brought to us and waitress #2 took our order. I went with the special which was fresh crab with spinach omelet. My husband tried the Hungry Man combo #2 which included 2 eggs, 2 hot cakes, choice of meat and choice of home fries or grits. The spot we were sitting was nice it was in a corner overlooking the water. I love that so much! Not too long after our breakfast was brought out to us. I loved it wasn't huge messy plates. The food was nicely plated on a size appropriate plate. Waitress # 3 came and checked on us but everything was great. The restaurant was constantly full and turned over quite often, so you see they are popular. Let me tell you the omelet was delishhhhhhhhh....they didn't skimp on the crab meat, the spinach was actually fresh, and the egg was perfectly cooked and it was fluffy. I had ordered rye toast and it was actually toasted unlike other places they run it through those conveyor belt toasters that toast only 1 side. The home fries were freshly made and tasted delicious. My husband was very happy with his actual crispy not burned not full of grease bacon. He usually splashes hot sauce on everything he eats but the food was tasty enough he didn't even ask for hot sauce (😲I was shocked that it met his palate expectations) the hot cakes he ordered were huge but thinner than a usual hotcake but thicker than a crepe. The taste was fresh and he loved it. Usually in a restaurant were they pool tips I feel bad because the server gets cheated especially if they give great service but coworkers suck. But here at Gilchrist it's work flow is like a perfectly running machine and all were on point and you can tell the servers had a good flow and system to give great service with a timely manner too. So yes to the reviews, I too recommend it here!!! It'd delishhhh.. I hope you give it a try! Enjoy ! #tastebudadventures #breakfast #Atlanticcity #nj #crabisyummy #seafoodinflunence #eatingbythewaterside

Wow!!! I was so curious about this place. It's amazing. It's located in Gardiner's Basin and dining is waterfront. The service is amazing. So many customers, often lines to get in , yet the waitresses are all so friendly and cheerful. They are also unbelievably fast but don't rush or pressure you. The view is amazing. I got a shrimp Po'Boy sandwich and it was loaded with shrimp. I sat at the counter and was eyeing people' s food. Everything looks amazing. I'm not a breakfast person but the next time I go, I am getting their pancakes 🥞. They are famous for them. They look different. As I paid my bill, another woman was raving about those pancakes, that they're crispy on the edges and soft in the middle and the blueberry 🫐 pancakes 🥞 are their specialty. I'm convinced enough to probably go back tomorrow morning and find out for myself !!! This is really a treasure of a place to have lunch or breakfast. Every customer sure looked happy. UPDATE: I went back today to try the pancakes 🥞. They were so delicious. They are not like any pancakes that I ever ate. They are like a cross between a crunchy edged crepe and a pancake. I definitely recommend that you try them. I just love their breakfast foods....and lunches too but their breakfasts are just fantastic. The hype is REAL !!!!

Great little place on the waterfront, only open for breakfast and lunch. Both indoor and outdoor seating available. I tried the shrimp Po-Boy, it was delicious. Prices were very reasonable, would definitely recommend.

Great spot for breakfast. I like the outdoor seating. The place is right on the water. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. These are some of the best pancakes I have ever had. Eggs, grits and bacon were also good. Great coffee as well. Very fair prices. I highly recommend for breakfast.

DONT let the appearance sway you. Situated by the Aquarium, this little gem will please. Two of us and we sat in 5 minutes @ 10am. Food came fast and was delicious. Coffee was excellent as well. Service was friendly and attentive. Price was fair. Good value for the dollar. Come before 11. We beat the crowd. They get super busy! 👌

Good American breakfast place. Definitely very popular and has a bit of wait around brunch time. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. We were a group of 6 and had to wait 45 min to get a table. We ordered Italian omelette, breakfast combo #2, veggie omelette, banana walnut french toast and blueberry pancakes. The pancakes were amazing and unique. It's thin and fluffy which make the pancakes amazing. Definitely recommend getting the pancakes here. Rest of the food is what you expect for American breakfast. The service is super quick and the coffee was good. Plan ahead for the wait if you are going here.

I visited this place while on vacay in Atlantic City. It’s right on the coast, with a marina view and it shows a different side of the town. My experience was so good I visited every morning til it was time for me to head back home. This place is a beautiful hidden gem. Like a destination place filled with traditional goodness. Perfect for breakfast, brunch & lunch. The service is fantastic. The staff are happy, willing to please you and are very attentive. The food comes out quickly. I don’t know how they do it but the food was fresh, perfectly cooked (each veggie was perfect) and tasty. GO HERE!

Great value and fast service for breakfast. Food was delicious. Their pancakes were my favorite part! We had peach and chocolate chip as part of the hungry man breakfast. I like that you had the option of add-ins to the pancakes with the breakfast combo.

Charming & quaint! Absolutely loved and recommend! If you are a visitor & looking for an Atlantic City gem... This is the place! Our visit was on a Saturday just around the 11AM hour... Our wait was about 20 minutes! Family owned! The staff (all ladies) were courteous & friendly! Food specials (Banana& walnuts French toast) divine! Enjoy!

It was a veeeeery long wait outside ☀️🌡it was 96°! (approx 20-30 minutes) The food was basic choices but it was soooo good. 👍🏼The staff was very pleasant❤ & attentive. We ate on the dock outside. Nice view of the water and properties😊

Breakfast was good. Pancakes are little on the thinner side. We ate on the outside deck, which provided a good view. There are also seagulls as you're by the dock with food they stay about of your way they're just vocal. Our bill was a little on the high side I feel as we just got 2 milks, a total of 4 pancakes and 2 pieces of french toast. I did get the apple cinnamon pancakes though, would recommend.

It’s not worth the hype. We took the Jitney bus to this location. It’s a super small location. Looking at the exterior, I didn’t know if I wanted to get off the bus or not. We actually got off the bus but were in the back of the restaurant. It’s really strange because the back faces the street. We walked around the building and there was a covered outdoor area which is the entrance. The outdoor area is not bad. It’s right on the water. The inside dining area was very small, maybe 10 tables or less. We were seated in arms length of the ladies restroom. The “famous hotcakes” were thin and glossy and tasted rubbery. The grits were just average. The ham and cheese omelet was good.

We had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated but, the food was excellent. I had raisin cinnamon french toast, scrambled eggs, sausages, and potatoes Obrien. I ate every bite. I love that this place is on the water and the tour boats are right next to it. Awesome and highly recommended. A perfect breakfast/lunch place.

Been coming to Gilchrist for years. Great breakfast spot. Really good pancakes. Coffee is good too which is a bonus. My kids love the pancakes, peach or blueberry. Service is fast and friendly.

Nice scenery by the docks. It took some time after we got seated for someone to attend to us but they seemed busy. The food tasted great (loved the option of having cod fish as a breakfast meat). The pancakes were fluffy even though I wish they were a little bigger. Overall, not bad.
