food tasted average for the price paid, felt that the dishes could have been better seasoned to be more flavourful. the lady who served us was friendly and nice!

The food was great. Pizza tasty. Fries crunchy. Onion rings perfect. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Pity the coffee machine broke down. However, the food, cheeky waitress, and warm ambiance more than made up for it. I do recommend this place. 2nd visit to the Zookeeper's Son with #fastfoodfriday and #foodiebumz crew Fri 29th September. Was told after our order was taken that they had only 1 Sirloin as we wanted two. No prob. An extra chicken schnitzel was ordered. Krispy Korean ribs were tender and falling off the bones. Sauce was a bit too rich. However, it was still tasty. Wings are 99c on Fridays, so a dozen of them went down well. Pank crumbed Scallop bites delicious. Chicken schnitzels with chips and salad, Sirloin and nachos well received by the crew. Desserts Apple and Rhubarb crumble Citrus Cheesecake and chocolate Brownie slice. Cheesecake base could've been more crumbly not soggy. Citrus taste was refreshing. Wait staff smiling and helpful. Still can't believe there was only one Sirloin steak at the start of a dinner shift. Anyhoo nice job Zookeeper's Son. 7/10 coconuts 🥥 on the island scale. 👌🤙

I’m giving my experience only 3 stars because of one of the staff being rude to us just before at the end of our session. Me and my friends came here for bottomless chicken and waffles and drinks on a saturday. It was not busy yet because we went early. May (one of the staff) was lovely and fantastic but Aimee (another staff) told us off for calling her when we wanted last round of drinks 10min before our session ended. I don’t know what went wrong for her to be rude to us. We were the only table having the bottomless session at that time. ( We booked for 5pm ) That really put us off. Otherwise the service was okay.

Our first time at this stunning & unique restuarant which offers free parking! - huge bonus! 😆 The food was superb & prepared to our liking. Great atmosphere with wonderful service, especially for my little one. Will definitely be back. Well done Lisa & your amazing team for making us feel at home👍🙂

My friend and I decided to get the platter to share so we could try a bit of everything (I'm also on a low carb/keto diet so it was a good meaty option with some vege where my friend could eat the breads etc.) It looked super vibrant and exciting when it was served. The chicken was nice and crispy. Ribs were a bit tougher than I would've expected, wasnt tender/soft so it took a bit to eat it all off the bone. Loved everything else on there. Wish there was a bit more of the brocolini though. Personally I think it was a bit steep in price (over $50), But we split the cost so it was ok . We also had a long island iced tea (made with coke zero) each which was delish

Paid $32 for two cosmopolitans, one made with lime juice and one made with lime cordial? What kind of bar uses lime cordial as a substitute for lime juice? No garnish either. Cant even just throw a lemon or orange on there. I shouldn't receive different drinks depending on who makes them on the same night. Asked for the drink to be remade and told there was nothing they could do. Its a bar, making a basic $16 cocktail with atleast 3 ingredients shouldn’t be that poor.

Food was absolutely fantastic, steak cooked perfectly, perhaps a little too much garlic butter but better more than less. The chicken burger was sizable, and interesting style of fried but tasty none the less. With the dessert option chosen a brownie, with chocolate mousse and chocolate ice cream... the perfect level of chocolate overload. The only thing holding them back from five stars was the service was a bit haphazard. The extremely helpful bar manager had to take our order, our server never appeared and the food was quite slow... But if it takes that time to make it taste as good as it did I am glad we waited patiently.

Friendly and efficient service, excellent food and drinks made. Great outdoor seating, pleasant interior decor. Spacious, good selection of music not too loud. Apparently they have Tuesday quiz nights, bottomless chicken and waffles on weds for $45, 2 hours max and live band on weekends. Decent amount of parking around the back especially for a week day :) This place sounds like it's packed full of fun and flavour for everyone :) We'll be back.

Interesting pub - especially being a great great grand daughter of JJ Boyd the zookeeper. Food was average, waitress was sweet but maybe a learner, as I had to ask for the same thing three times, and ask for our unfinished bottle of wine to be brought back to the table. Lisa, the bar manager, was strangely cold and stand-offish - completely disinterested. It really could have been a more pleasant get together (there were about 12 of us). I had looked forward to visiting for a very long time, and was very disappointed with the experience.

I planned a special outing for my family/ extended family. Why? Because we are descendants of John James Boyd. The JJ Boyd standing in the pic on the wall is my Great Grandfather. Seated is my Great Great Grandfather. My maiden name is Boyd. 5 of our group came from Whangarei. (Included 3 kids) 3 from Auckland 2 from Taranaki 1 from Sydney 1 from Ireland. Food was pricey and average tasting (I had salt and pepper squid) Waitress was lovely, but timid. I spoke with the Bar Manager Lisa and told her that we were direct descendants of JJ Boyd. Lisa didn't care, wasn't engaging, so I didn't continue chatting with her (there were very few people in the establishment at the time we went) Each time I looked over to the bar area, Lisa seemed to be angrily staring at our group. We were not loud. The children were well behaved. We didn't feel welcome. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again.

Went in after work for a beer and dinner. Wait staff were very friendly and attentive. The meals came out fast, were delicious and well priced. Will definitely be going back!

The service was great, very friendly. The food was lovely and very much enjoyed, the roast meal in particular. We also saw the staff assisting a gentleman who uses a wheelchair and who seems to be a regular. They showed him a great deal of kindness and respect. We were impressed. Thanks Ishita and team.

First time @ Zookeepers. Slow Tuesday night in the restaurant but nice if you want quiet. Ordered ribs, cheesy garlic pizza & warm lamb salad which arrived in around 10 mins. Kai was reka and priced accordingly. The kai reminds me of Woodside in Manukau. Highly recommend people try this place.

Went out a couple beers and dinner with some mates and was greeted by a super friendly young man. Ordered the nachos and was stoked with the size, however lacking flavour. My partnered ordered the tacos and for the price we felt like two wasn’t much. The pizza and onion rings were also a classic, hard to go wrong. Wanted to play pool but they only had one table unfortunately, good atmosphere and love the furnishings of the dining areas. Would recommend for a drink and light meal!

Came across the Zookeeper's Son on google whilst looking for a place to eat near to where we were staying overnight. What a delightful experience that was ! The venue is a great open space with plenty of seating, bar service was super friendly and our service waitress, Amy P was just a breath of fresh air. Nothing too hard, super helpful and attentive... 10/10 for her. Our food was quite exceptional! Beautiful presentation, clean tastes and just delicious. We had the Green Papaya salad and Tempura Eggplant and scrumptious 😋 San Choy Bow. Cannot recommend highly enough this venue... bravo to the chefs, best food in Auckland I've had for ages .... 👏. Thanks team for a awesome experience

Food is absolutely delicious! Enjoyed the buffalo wings and cheesy pizza bread the most. Loaded burger had nice fresh garnish and a smokey taste. Prawn linguine had a zesty finish. Thanks team!

Does anyone appreciate what light is? I do. I found it. Here. At Zoos. With Shay. Guys if you’re thinking about coming down here just remember we are spending our hard earned coin on a night out. Shay was not only present but he set the atmosphere for what was our best night out. Attentive, considerate, and most of all understanding. We went of the menu, which in its own deserves a 5 star review. The food the atmosphere but most of all Shay, was our highlight of our night. My family and I will be back. Shay thank you 🙏🏾

Izzy & Emma were the absolute best! We had a private event on the rooftop bar and they were the on top of their game assisting me with any help needed. Along with Lisa & Fred, both so hopeful throughout my booking process.

Really really nice place. Staff are always very friendly, great atmosphere and even better food. Love coming here for a few chill drinks and there’s lots of open space for a late night boogie

Been here a few times but the staff, atmosphere and beers were exceptional tonight. Alex was a standout. He served us in a timely manner even though he was quite obviously busy. Appreciate the communication and the whole night was just choice! Will be back for some more cold beers and the best garlic pizza in town.

Was there on ANZAC Day. Ordered the fish and chips. Came in a very large bowl - so a sizeable porton. The coleslaw was fresh and crunchy. Chips were hot. Fish...not so great. Overall food was average. I've had better, sorry. The Heineken was great though! Staff: the guy behind the bar was a bit curt initially but seemed to get a bit better at our second interaction. The petite young woman, was friendly and engaging. Meal for 1 cost over $40.00 including surcharge. Seems dear for what it was

Had my son's surprise 21st birthday celebration upstairs in the Rooftop Bar recently, Lisa was very helpful & great to deal with when booking our event. The staff working that night did an outstanding job as the venue was quite busy(being a Friday). The rooftop space was clean, private & large enough for our 80+ guests & a photobooth setup. Thank you to the awesome bar staff - Stella, Fredelle, the wonderful May & all the security staff, a huge thank you to the Chefs/Kitchen staff as the food was amazing & delicious! (We chose platters from the sharing menu & option3 from the Feasting Menu) salads were fresh, roast meats were tender, moist. Platters and food was well presented & large servings/portions! My son, family, & friends enjoyed a wonderful, safe, fun, & memorable night!

Food was amazing and portions were just right! Although we only ordered the Margherita pizza and buttermilk fried chicken, we just managed to finish it. Cocktails were yummy too.

Was good getting back to bit bit of Normality again, but safely. May was the highlight of my first time back visit, with so much energy and customer service was the best I had ever seen. She was all over at any given time. Wow. Keep up the good work May. The food was good. Had fish and chips. I think there should be reviewed by others, think the dish lacked a bit of improvement, 4 star the salad on the dish was the winner. But that’s my opinion. The salt and pepper Squid 5 starl May 6 star.👏

Our dining experience was enhanced tonight thanks to our amazing waitress "Emma" . She was attentive, smiling and obviously takes her job seriously, her smile was lovely and she seemed a very happy soul. Thank you Emma. We'll be asking for Emma when we go back. The food tonight was fabulous, a plentiful bowl of caesar salad with lots of chicken and a medium sirloin which was fantastic and such a nice change to have potatoes instead of chips. Thanks everyone :-)

Recently celebrated a 30th at the Zookeepers rooftop bar & everything was a solid 10/10. Staff very friendly and welcoming. All our guests could not stop complementing the food that was served ! Not only was the presentation of it excellent but it tasted good too. thank you chef. Big thank you to our two bartenders May & Fred. & lastly Thank you Lisa ! For making sure we were well looked after. Like they say if the management is good the team is good ! Thank you to the team that served us on this evening. Rooftop bar: Honestly this room saves you from decorating the place is already well set up. Cleanliness 10/10 Service 10/10 Worth your $? YES Cheers We will be back again
