We had a catch up coffee during lunchtime at Scratch Bakers in the city and I was immediately impressed by how stunning the wooden concrete interiors were with a very urban chic feel to the establishment. The espresso was impressive that a had a couple of soy lattes and a hazelnut double chocolate meringue which was fudgey, chewy and so chocolatey. Simply divine coffee experience that warrants a lunching experience next time!

Scratch Bakers is set up in a modern and welcoming space, with a good selection bakery goods. Unfortunately their staff offer the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Disinterested and clumsy, picking the wrong order even after repeating and clarifying the order, coffee spilled after being thrown to the table carelessly. Please choose your staff wisely and train them properly on customer service.

Been here about 4 times for coffee and cabinet food. Every single time, the girl at the register had a scowl on her face. No greeting. No thank you. Acts as if she's doing me a favor by taking my order and payment. Came here to start the day right with a nice coffee and bite. But the service just ruined the whole experience. Food and atmosphere were great though.

Best cafe in town by far! Amazing coffee, yummy breakfast, a great looking cabinet of which everything is made on site in the bakery hence the name "Scratch" such a nice atmosphere and the staff are lovely too.

Come here often for great coffee! The small little prosciutto-truffle croissant is amazing. Would love large version of it. Pistachio croissant was a letdown, taste a bit too much like an artifical flavour. Chocolate cruffin was very nice. The place gets busy but won't let you down. Staff Is pretty onto it!

That was pretty great; easy to say that haha. Spacious, welcoming shop with plenty of seating and shelves full of tempting treats. Many of their sandwiches seem to be prepared earlier that morning, ready for toasting, and still tasted great with a dash of plated flair. Don't forget about the pies either as I wouldn't have even noticed them if my friend didn't point them out to me. They run weekly specials too so took them up on that plus a balanced Snickers donut (not your normal donut). So much to look forward to eating next time.

Meat pies are so good! Can't speak for the rest of the pastries and stuff because I did not have room for them. Just beware if you order tea here, they use tiny teapots. Vibe is appropriately industrial yet very fitting, just needed more stomach space!

been here few times as lockdown goes longer you try to find new cafes to go saw scratch bakers sounds like a proper bake shop which they somehow make from scratch so it should be fresh so far we have tried the plain and almond croissant, frozen beef cheek pie, steak toastie and ham brioche and their coffees the coffee were good the large size runs small all the croissants disnt taste and looks fresh the frozen pie were good when we heat at home it was moist and had a great flavor. The steak toastie was also good the brioche is a mistake the onion for me was too strong the quality of the brioche was mushy the display area for pastries and donuts looks underwhelming they all look old

Dissappointed in the quality of their brioche and scones lately. The taste and consistency have not been to their usual standard. Seems excessively doughy and not at all the soft buttery texture it used to be. Have given it a few chances but may need to skip them all together. Sweets still delicious thankfully.

My daily from work. Got to watch the waist line as everything is delicious. Pistachio Croissant my personal fav. Great coffee too.

We ordered the rib eye sandwich to share and a raspberry mint tea. No cold black tea here. The sandwich was a bit disappointing with a thin, tough slice of steak. The order taker did deliver to the table but did not seem to be having a good day as we smiled and tried to engage a little bit.

Good coffee. Eggs Bene was good...but the muffin/base was slightly sweet (think it may have been a squashed Brioche), and one of the herbs used tasted somewhat incongruent with the traditional brunch - which detracted from the otherwise well cooked and tasty breakfast

We visited Scratch for brunch yesterday. We can see why is place so busy - the service, drinks and food were absolutely fantastic. Drinks and hot food delivered to our table within 10 minutes and the place was packed. Very impressed. The staff were always busy doing something and not just standing around looking at their phones. The best Cafe in Auckland we've been to.

Coffee ok, but the bacon and soft egg bap was a sweet, toxically salty mess. Had to go somewhere else to find some tea to take the taste away

Stopped in for a late breakfast. The cafe is tucked into a loop, making it a bit hard to see from the road. The scones, coffee, and breakfast sandwiches were all excellent. I'll be back.

Good breakfasts and lovely bakery food. Eat here for breakfast when stay at the Ramada. Good value for money. If it’s your thing posts of radio personalities frequent this during their breaks as NZME is directly opposite.

Great food & great coffee. However... change up your Playlist. 7am is far too early to be blasting a song about suicide (Shinedown - 45) or songs about war (Rise Agaisnt - Hero of War).
