Great tasting food, lots of veggie options including fully vegan dishes. I didn't try the beverages but they have beer on tap. I had the kimchi pancake and boyfriend had the vegan chicken burger (he's not vegan and he had a side of bacon, which was rather sad looking and a very small portion). The burger was really good and the buns were delicious. The kimchi pancake was good, but in the menu sunfed chicken is listed as an ingredient, so I assumed the portion would be decent but it's only crumbs that are sprinkled on top. Was disappointed about that, but otherwise it was tasty. I'd go back but would order differently. Kurtis the dog is really sweet and they're pet friendly of course.

Delicious food, friendly staff, nice set-up. Perfect spot for vegan and non-vegan group of friends/family - everyone can find their food and wine options. Great wine list ! Absolutely stunning food and service. Thoroughly recommend to anybody visiting or living in Devonport. A beautifully designed menu that caters to meat eaters and vegans alike, without compromising on quality or flavour. The gin and wine list is a particular stand out, with plenty of new zealand made options!

We 4 enjoyed a lovely lunch with excellent friendly service. The variety and quality of options was a happy tease. Our overseas guest was impressed too. Thanks team. Oh not a gripe but be mindful that if the majority of patrons are over 50 tone back the volume of hip hop 🫠😘

Excellent food choices especially if you are vegan. Friendly service, reasonable prices, clean with a relaxing atmosphere. Service was timely. Dishes presented well. An enjoyable interlude.

We stopped by for a delicious weekend brunch after hiking to the top of nearby Mt Victoria Summit. I had a corgette Scramble with chimmichuri and red onion which was x delicious. My husband had the burger which he also said was delicious. It was nice to dine outside on the patio.

Had early dinner here. Staff were lovely and incredibly helpful in regards to the menu and explaining some options for us. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. We had crispy tofu and fries. They have a nice amount of vegan options available on their menu. It's definitely worth a visit, and I will absolutely be returning with more friends in the future.

Such an interesting range and balance of vegan and non vegan options. Not your typical (which I loved). The outdoor area is cute, great for general people watching and just taking in the vibe. The coffee and food was great. The best vegan fritters (pictured) I’ve had in ages. They weren’t dry or bland - they were moist and full of flavor. Surprisingly filling considering how small the dish appears (I normally order big breakfasts). My brother wished they’d had some less carby options (maybe a salad or something) but other than that nothing to complain about here. Can’t wait to go back.

Can't recommend Vondel enough!!! Taco Tuesday is a must, different taco's every week, tried the salmon & duck confit last time 10/10! The cocktails to match are also so divine. They have the best vegan/vegetarian options out there in my opinion. I have been twice in the last 2 weeks, already craving there vegan butter and bread again.. Great staff & great music too... Hidden Gem of Devonport :)

What an amazing experience. Food far exceeded my already high expectations. Friendly and attentive Staff. I think this restaurant is a gem the locals keep hidden to have just for themselves. Definitely return visits called for to sample the whole menu. Now on my discerning favorite eateries list. Thank you Vondel.

Good portions, but quite pricey. Our meals all came out in intervals. My daughter had finished her meal before I started mine. A pleasant place to sit.

Great service, nice atmosphere! The food was alright - we had brunch but we weren’t blown away by it. The halloumi was good. The new dish - pork with eggs was not amazing but not bad. Would order smth else next time.

Came here for a birthday lunch with family and left thoroughly impressed! Love the variety of dishes on the menu and the japanese cold noodles I had were delish - Thanks chef! (my tipp, maybe offer chopsticks with the noodle dish ) Overall lovely atmosphere and great food. I’ll be back for the kimchi pancake 😉

The atmosphere and the staff were very good, but there were too many deep fried options on the menu. Also there appeared to be an over-emphasis on sauces on everything. The main course pork dish was deep fried and swimming in sauce that completely dominated the whole dish. I will not be rushing back because I felt the choices were limited due to the deep frying and overwhelming saucing.

Staying in Devonport fora long overdue reset. Had a lovely late dinner and a couple of cheeky cocktails. The owner was an absolute gem, so kind, the perfect mix of customer service and space to relax and dine with my book. The staff were so friendly. Honestly the best dining experience I've had in a long time. Will be going back before head home.

Tasty food, great ambiente and very good service. Only thing i could nag about is the portion size to price ratio - plates should either be a bit fuller or prices a bit lower. Otherwise really great, therefore 5 stars. Menu is also very vegan/vegetarian friendly!

Sam and the rest of the staff were very hospitable! Going above and beyond to look after myself and the group! They also cater for everyone’s dietary requirements. You are also greeted by Kurtis, the most handsome pup out 🥰 🐶 I will definitely be coming back when I visit from Aus again!

Vondel is a local fav of ours. Great vegan men for brunch and dinner, plus a good selection of tap beers and interesting wines. Lovely outdoor terrace for warmer days.

Loved the Sunday roast for Mother's Day - food was outstanding and very friendly service from all the staff. Nice little kids menu with a couple of options outside the usual beige fried stuff most places offer.

Kapiti cheese platter was nicely presented, Potato fries were nicely cooked. Service was ok but the people that work there dont smile. Nice outdoor area to enjoy the street vibe. Unfortunately the Coffee was luke warm and more flat white than cappuccino.

Great atmosphere! Friendly and helpful service. Friendly mascot. We had glasses of wine from New Zealand and a shared a charred pork loin with chickpeas, cilantro, and kimchi. It was fantastic.

Very good food and excellent coffee!! I had the beef burger and my partner had the kimchi pancake. Just note the burger does come with chips, so they need to be ordered separately.

My wife and me had breakfast here this morning. We are vegan and vegetarian respectively. There were only about 4 or 5 options, but the food was tasty. Service was good and food prepared quickly. Coffee was awesome. Would give 5 stars if more plant based options were available.
