Food was amazing but service unfortunately was very far away from good, and for much as I would like to rate it as 5 star I can’t because of what happened. We got there and walked inside with my friends, but Fabio from Colombia (I believe the manager) told us off in a super rude way and asked us to wait outside, even though we didn’t see anything saying that we have to wait outside and we had a reservation, he was not friendly at all and his manners were non existent. We sat at the back where the restaurant shares tables with the other businesses so we bought chicken from next door while we were waiting for our order as they said it takes around 30 minutes, and then Fabio comes again to tell us off about eating food from the other place, once again, there’s no sign or anything that says that is not allowed, as far as we know we were in a food court!! Unfortunately these things left a bad taste in our mouths even when the food was great. If I ever come back I hope I don’t see this character again there, whoever owns this place should get staff that knows how to treat customers.

Not a big place for large groups, suits 4_8 people gathering I assumed. loved our meal here! Had the yummy well-cooked costliest and the sides came on the very delicious sauce. very tender beef ribs with tostones and guacamole were recommended by one of the staff members, and it was a gr8 idea. Will back. But pre-booking will give you a chance to get a better table.

This place was just amazing, came here for my partners birthday and had a great time. I got their 900g steak and it was out of this world huge and delicious. Highly recommend and the staff were awesome too.

This place has been on my list for a while, my Brazil friend took me to there, it’s his favorite restaurant in Auckland. it is very popular, if you don’t reserve, might sit at the bar if there is a space, I didn’t mind sit at the bar and see the chef cooking, amazing. Our food is beautiful, big portion, the ribs are tender, service is quick and staff are friendly. I like the ambiance. Definitely would go back and recommend to give it try.

On a business trip so I popped in and got a table at the bar without a reservation. T-bone was fantastic. Also a good craft beer from Kereru brewery. Friendly service and I enjoyed watching the steak being cooked in front of me. Thoroughly recommended as a fun plane to eat great meat.

Tender pork ribs with great bbq sauce on special and the sausage was very unique tasting too. Beef knuckle was also good but similar to a sliced steak. Good cocktails like the Orange Bailey's which is pretty much a dessert. Make sure you get reservations here because it's booked out every time we've gone or tried to go. Good for 2-3 people but not larger groups from the tables I saw. Very filling plates.

We dined here on a dinner out on a Friday night. Delicious food and lovely ambience of the restaurant. We loved the open kitchen and being able to watch the chef prepare our meals. Food was perfect and staff were lovely. All in all a great dinner out and would totally recommend. Will be returning.

This is our favourite place to eat in Auckland! The owner and staff are so friendly and the food is just succulent and stunning! Definitely go with an empty stomach. It's worth every cent!

I had received rave reviews from multiple sources claiming El Humero was home to a certified meat magician and let me tell you, it totally lived up to all the hype. The beef short rib was so tender and tasty that I’m already thinking about my return visit, we didn’t get to try the tomohawk steak but will 100% be trying next time. The food here's absolutely amazing! Forgot to take more photos of the main. The pork belly and ribs were so delicious cooked to perfection, the service was excellent too. The side dishes were also tasty and freshly made. Would highly recommend El Humero if you haven't tried it out yet 👌👍

Great experience dining here after it was recommended to me. All dishes were cooked sensationally with an authentic Colombian flare. A sizable range of quality meats prepared to smoky, sizzling perfection. The Sangria was also very refreshing and tasty. El Humero is one of Takapuna’s better restaurants and I’ll definitely be back.

It was my third time here and I loved it just like the previous ones. The food was amazing, but it did have a longer wait than last time. I had the chicken and it was just perfect. It was juicy and well seasoned. The staff was friendly and polite. I would recommend calling to make a booking because he space is a bit small and it's always full

Super awesome dining experience, esp if you're sitting in front of the bar. The chefs obviously have top-notch grilling skills as our steaks (Tbone and sirloin) came out perfectly medium well. The ambiance of the place is also great, truly feels like in Colombia! Also they fill up pretty quickly so will be good to reserve beforehand.

Everything was good about this place except for the quality of the cut of meat they were using. It was cooked really well and tasted great but was just a terrible, cheap low grade cut of steak, tough and chewy too much connecting tissue though it etc etc

Thankfully my favorite Colombian food is on the cheaper end of this menu because it’s very expensive. The chicharron and yuca frita were so good! My Portuguese friend who tried it for the first time also loved it. Sadly, we got Colombian this day to support the women’s team in the World Cup but they did not move forward 😿

Went here for a small work dinner, and all of us enjoyed our meals. I had the T Bone, and it was lovely and tender. Most mains are BBQ meat, but that is what we were after. My starter was that pork belly, which was a little dry, but the skewers that one of the others had were very nice.

The beef short ribs were amazing, very tender and falling off the bone Tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection Empanada and chicharon were great entrees

Enjoyed the location and arrangement of the place. Convenient dining areas, can be easily used if you are having dinner alone, lots of space in the bar with the overview of the grill action! We had a group of 5, and asked sharing platters with the budget of $40 each. The variety was very satisfying! Had a couple bottles of the South American reds - smooth wines, would like to see some Chilean Cabernet sauvignon, and maybe bigger wine list. But that's a personal preference. The only downside is, we were staying late, past the closing time, but never were offered desert menu and simply were given the bill as the indication of the closing time. Maybe some communication from the staff next time, as we were aware of the timings. Overall very nice place and a good night at Takapuna!

A great all year round restaurant with that awesome charcoal BBQ taste. Their steaks are so delicious and you get a side dish and salad with it. I love the yuca (cassava) - very rare dish in NZ.

Stopped in and got a seat at the bar. Margarita is made like in Latin America with lime juice instead of sugary mix. El Humero Pork is a giant pile of meat for a 5 foot tall lady. Maybe share this one with some girlfriends or a bottomless stomach husband. Otherwise it was amazing and smoky and tender. The yucca fries were ok...they looked too perfect to be fresh, and the texture felt like they had been frozen. I wish I would have gotten the fried plantains, they looked house made. We will be going back with friends to get the HUGE platters of food that has just about all the meats on it. Only wish here is fresh yucca fries and some more serious greens instead of a puny salad?

Great food and a cosy atmosphere

My wife and I split a plate and an appetizer. We also each got a beverage. The bartender made the beverages to perfection and the food was very delicious. I recommend waiting for a table unless you really like being warm. We sat at the bar and while we were able to see everything as it was prepared (and we did enjoy that), it was really warm. We will likely eat here again.

Decent place where to rest eating something during your time at the beach. A bit too expensive though, probably because close to the beach.

The food was absolutely delicious 😋 we had el humero pork, the ribs and chicken. All are lip smacking good ! The sides are also amazing. We had to take some home it was so much , but lucky us leftovers for lunch :) highly recommend

My wife and I treated ourselves to lunch here, and have to say we enjoyed some of the best steak ever, great service and did I mention the amazing steak's.

Poor customer service, the manager charged us higher excusing there was a mistake in the information the waiter gave us. She didn’t apologise and looked angry because we asked the reason of the higher price. One of my friends tried to contact them through messenger to complain and they responded in favour of the restaurant and did not apologise

Normally I would have recommended this place however on our last trip the service was abysmal. Waited 20 minutes for a waitress to take our order, walked off before we could even order drinks. Left sitting for half an hour and then told they hadn’t even bothered to put our order through. Their apology for wasting an hour of our time was some free soft drinks and not even offering to cook our food immediately. Seems like their staff care more about chatting than actually providing any level of service. Needs addressing as it is ruining such good food.
