I could list all of the good food they have here but I would probably hit a character limit, look at the menu and know you likely won't regret anything. That said, I'm only giving this place 3 stars because each year the staff seems to get worse. We go every year on our anniversary and sometimes in-between for other special events. Last year they were not allowing anyone at the sushi bar and table service is never fun, this year we were at the sushi bar and somehow still no one spoke to us. To be fair to the sushi team, every time I tried to speak with them they made it clear they didn't speak English 😕. Sitting at the sushi bar and having the chefs make whatever they enjoy has lead us down an intense path of new and interesting rolls over the years. We enjoy hearing stories about the industry and food we are eating and you just won't get that here anymore. The waitress, when she was around, made us very uncomfortable. She stood there watching as I figured out the tip commenting on what I was doing while I was doing it. We were there of 2.5 hours and she only came around like 3-4 times without being flagged over. Not a fan. Great food! Poor service. 3 stars for now but I will keep trying and hope I can edit this to a 5 star in the future.

Great experience at this charming family owned restaurant! Awesome Sushi selection w fresh ingredients! Atmosphere friendly & upbeat. Pineapple Saki & Yaki Udon perfect with veggies and chicken. Loved the decor with several seating areas with differing ambience. Staff went over & above to make our evening enjoyable. Highly recommended.

I have heard of this place from numerous people. We finally ate here tonight. Between the three of us, we had a variety of things. Seafood udon, hot mama roll, sashimi bento box, spicy edamame. It was all delicious!!! Would definitely go again. Not too busy at 6 on a Saturday night.

Pretty restaurant. I had a crunchy roll. What was weird that I haven’t experienced before is that all of the sushi was served together on one large plate. The doors seem kind of sketch, but not to worry THESE ARE THE DOORS! Also, we were not forced to wear a mask so HURRAY!!! 😍

Spicy garlic edamame was really tasty! It feels like they use a garlic chili crisp. Would get this again. Also got the caterpillar roll, salmon skin roll, rock n roll and rainbow roll.

W food plus spicy edamame. Never better. Felt like the place was from the 80’s. Good water loaded with ice. Cool RGB lights plus a fish tank. Atmosphere on point. Table was smooth/had no scratches. Very spacious inside, although I could use more room for my legs in the booth. I have long legs. I wish the menu was paper, not online. The music was also fire. Crazy cool and interesting decorations, including the light bulb with a cover I’ve never seen before. Chopsticks felt good in my hand; the were light and a good texture. There was a painting of the Great Wave off Kanagawa, which reminds me of old times. The bathrooms were also clean and sanitary. It took a while to get our food, but it was still delicious. I recommend the Big Easy Roll. 10/10. I was very thirsty and by the end of the night the waitress had given me 3 waters. The soy sauce was good too, and they even had gluten free for my sister’s diet. Cheese cake was yum yum.

Came here with some friends and had a great lunch. The interior is super cool with lots of things that catch the eye, making it friendly and fun. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I ordered the crouching tiger roll, a couple of pieces of sashimi, and some spicy edamame for our table. The sushi was all very fresh, and the crouching tiger roll was DELICIOUS! Highly recommend it and the spicy edamame. The season on it was spicy but not too hot so everyone could enjoy it! Overall, it was a great lunch, and I can't wait to stop by again.

I love their sushi! But also, 100% try that tempura dessert, you’ll be in bliss. Depending on the day and staff of course, the service will be a little slow, one time I asked for a to go box and I never got it on time before I had to leave haha. But my recent visit they handed it pronto! Either way, super nice people. (Cute date spot!! Really pretty. And a little chilly!)

Soooo good!!! Definitely recommend. Drove over an hour just to eat here after reading the reviews and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! Ask for Joelene she was awesome, great service, friendly, professional and always made sure we were good. So happy and pleased we came here. Definitely a MUST here in Austin for sushi. Well be coming back even if its over an hour drive because it was worth it. Such amazing and fresh sushi and food!!! Ooo and drinks too!!

This restaurant is amazing! They provided 5 star service!! Justin was super awesome and kind! The team was all so amazing! I’m proud of the team work I saw! Seems that management leads their team well! Everyone deserves a raise!! Best restaurant and staff ever!!!

We had a memorable experience, the food is simply amazing, the staff and service were just as incredible. The manager Justin helped us choose the tastiest dishes with something as simple as the type of roll I was craving. Our server Asia was super attentive and engaging, recommending drinks and dessert. They both deserve all the praise and more. Deff gonna come back and y'all should come by as well!

My new wife and I regularly hit happy hour or reverse happy hour at Umi for our sushi and sex… uh self care nights! The service is cheerful, the pepper tuna is sinfully delicious, and we like the kimonos!

Was able to get a reservation for 5 people the day of which was refreshing - most places in Austin are booked out weeks in advance. Anyway this place had very good service and the food was excellent without costing too much. Apparently they sometimes employ a DJ so it can get fairly loud especially in the middle of the restaurant

Always super great food at UMI. Staff needs to smile a little more but always a great service on our items. We love to start with spicy Edamame which these are our favorite in town. Delicious rolls after that. Great place and a great happy hour also

The food was AMAZING! We had never been here before and was happily surprised with how big the he menu was and the overall experience. Our server Jacob was attentive, friendly, and overall the first reason why we decided we will be back. Next, the food was fresh, sushi was at a great temperature, and the cocktails were delicious. I will absolutely be back and telling others about it .

We have been coming as a family to Umi for over a decade, and this is hands down our favorite sushi restaurant in Austin! It is so easy for our big family, the staff is great, and Happy Hour definitely doesn't disappoint. We love supporting our local neighborhood establishments, and this gem is at the top of our list. Great sushi and very friendly service. The shrimp hand roll was BOMB and very affordable. Go during happy hour before 6:30 and after 9:30pm. Service was lagging this visit only because of shortage in employees but overall great experience. Will be returning.

Wow, great experience!! I've been here twice now, and it's marked in my maps as a favorite. The staff are all knowledgeable and kind. They help you find what you like on their menu and even suggest wines!!

This place is amazing. High quality sushi. Amazing service. Rudolpho was our server. We can in kinda late but he had a great attitude and was very attentive. There was a DJ playing fun music. We had a blast

The hand roll amazing to start off with . I got the hot mama roll and it was very satisfying . Definitely recommend coming 🥹 Our server was Claudia and she is Amazing !
