We had a magical and happy stay here. The beautiful B&B is in a peaceful and verdant setting close to Avignon, Chateauneuf du Pape (some of best wines in the world), and many gorgeous hillside villages. The room was luxurious, with windows on three sides looking out on the surrounding fields. The home cooked meals were superb. The highlight, though, was the warm and fun hosts, Alex and Brian. We hope to return one day.

The place is even better in person. The rooms were beautifully decorated (and spotless). Brian and Alex's hospitality was top-notch. We enjoyed wonderful breakfasts every morning, and they cooked a memorable birthday dinner for my husband.

All the reviews are spot on! Brian, as property owner, host and chef, personifies everything that is Bastide De Bellegarde. Welcoming, cheerful, colourful, charming and tasteful are words I can use to describe Brian, his property and the food he cooks. He is hardworking, involved and pays attention to his guests. The room we booked, which was spacious and had a large balcony, was delightful. And the two dinners and two breakfasts he cooked are tantalising and mouthwatering memories. But it was his suggestion that we wake up early and ride his bicycles to visit the Saturday market that marked the highlight of our stay at Bastide De Bellegarde. I look forward to a return visit and to hear more of Brian's stories. Kudos also to his wonderful assistant Alix and the crew. Ken and Hanny from Singapore

By far our favorite stay EVER! There is so much to say about how wonderful Bastide de Bellegarde is. The scenery, the beautiful property, the decor and details in every corner, and how welcoming Brian is are all highlights. We stayed for five nights and loved every minute! The rooms are stunning and have everything we needed to feel comfortable, and the food was fantastic. Brian is an incredible host who immediately makes you feel at home. Truly an unforgettable stay, we can't wait to come back!

I just love this place! Any kind of words for compliment, just use it! Don't hesitate, and never be wrong. First the location is good, not too close or too far from the center of Avignon, good driving and biking distance to the town. It's a very quiet place with very nice guests, a perfect place to relax and to refresh. Second, Brian, the owner and the staffs are super nice. Their dining service are off on Wednesday every week but when heard of us coming on 6/28 the Wed Brian prepared dinner for us! The rooms are delicately designed and decorated with paintings, artistic ornaments, and sheets are high quality ones, just love it. I now have regretted that I had only booked for one night before going to Valensole for lavender fields because it is just the right place for you to stay for a while for any reason you can think of. I will visit again next time, for sure with my wife and my daughter, straight to here all the way from New York City, and for here we can definitely skip Paris.

This place is awesome and recommend that you stay for several nights. Great location and it is a terrific place to just hang out and relax in comfort. The food is excellent and the service the same. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet. Make sure to try their home made jams and ice cream in particular is stellar while the local Brie that they serve is outstanding. The resident roaming peacock is a welcome sight and adds to the tranquil setting. Brian and Alex are excellent hosts and clearly have put a lot of thought and effort into making Bastide De Bellegarde the gem that it is.

A wonderful little hotel on the outskirts of Avignon. Brian is a marvellous host and has refurbished the old house respectfully and tastefully. While he says he hasn't finished it yet, the rooms - there are only four of them - are very comfortable and have all mod cons. The big thing, though, is that you get invited into the Bastide family. The optional dinner is delicious and served to all guests in the cosy atmosphere of the small dining room. So is the breakfast, Both are prepared by someone who knows how to bring out the best in the regional produce. We visited in March and loved it there. My only regret is that we didn't stay long enough. So we will definitely go back!

One of the best holiday destinations I have ever been to. My husband and I went to Bastide de bellegarde as part of our European honeymoon tour. Coming from Australia, it is such a long way so you want to know you are having the best experiences. This has definitely been the best, from the friendly staff Brian and Alex, to the absolutely incredible meals and adorable estate we were staying on. They have thought of everything in order to make your stay more comfortable. I will be telling all my friends and family to come here and although I have just left, I am already trying to organise a trip back here. If you are thinking of a place to stay on your way down to the south of france THIS IS IT!! Each morning Brian and Alex will suggest different towns to visit depending on what you are interested in and every suggestion they made was always a good one. Bikes are also included in your stay, so you are able to ride into town and explore. We ended each day with a quick dip in the pool and ate the most amazing dinner cooked by Brian and Alex.

The best B&B in France! The hosts are incredibly attentive, going out of their way to make you feel at home. The breakfasts and dinner were large and superb, and the room was very clean and comfortable. They also have bikes available to borrow for a quick ride to town. Make surd to look out for the resident peacock in the grounds!

Beautiful property in Provence with the nicest and most attentive people running it. Brian is such a fantastic host and owner. After he learned that I love figs, he went to get some fresh figs from the property and they were sooo delicious!! We stayed there for 3 nights and wanted to stay longer! The breakfast is a feast and Alex took such great care of us! A true gem and we will definitely come back when in the neighborhood!

This place is pure MAGIC! The rooms are adorable, the grounds are impeccable, the location is excellent, and the hospitality is unmatched. Brian and Alex were a joy to be around and took care of our every need. The home cooked meals were some of the very best we had during our 3 week trip to France. Run, do not walk to book this place, it is an absolute gem of a Bastide. We look forward to returning with our friends and family soon!

La Bastide De Bellegarde is a beautiful bed and breakfast. Brian could not be more gracious and hospitable. The furnishings were absolutely gorgeous! Every detail of our stay was perfect…..from comfortable beds to the delicious food. Our breakfast every morning was beautifully prepared by Alex....fresh fruit, cheeses and breads along with fluffy omelets and coffee. Brian made dinner for us twice and what a wonderful chef he is! We loved learning the cheeses, wines and many other things about French culture. They were also very helpful with suggestions about restaurants and things to see in the area. We were sad to leave such lovely people…..they truly treated us like family!

Nestled in the heart of Avignon lies a gem of a B&B that seamlessly marries history with modern comfort. Stone Cottage, with its roots tracing back to the 1600s, is a testament to the timeless beauty of traditional French architecture. Yet, it's the present-day charm that truly captures one's heart. Brian, the proprietor, has infused the establishment with not only meticulous care in its restoration but also a profound sense of hospitality. It's evident that every brick, every beam, and every decor piece in the cottage has been thoughtfully chosen. But what truly stands out is the attentive service Brian offers. He doesn’t just run a B&B; he crafts an experience. From the moment you step in, he ensures that your needs are not just met, but exceeded. Dining here is a culinary journey. While the absence of a menu might raise eyebrows, it’s a conscious choice that sets the tone for a home-like ambiance. Breakfast and dinner are hearty, flavorful, and authentic, taking you on a gastronomic tour of the region. However, a word to the wise: If you have specific dietary requirements, it's crucial to communicate them upfront, as meals are curated based on the freshest local produce and traditional recipes. For wine enthusiasts, Stone Cottage's proximity to Avignon's vineyards is the proverbial cherry on the cake. After a day of wine touring, coming back to this quaint retreat feels like returning home. In summary, Stone Cottage isn't just a place to stay; it's an experience to cherish. We can't wait to revisit Brian's hospitality and the enchanting world he has crafted in Avignon.

Wonderful in every way. Bastide De Bellegarde is beautiful, charming, quiet, and relaxing. Exactly what we were looking for, and imagined a B&B in Avignon to be. The rooms are beautifully decorated, breakfast is delicious, and if you choose to dine here, the meals are incredible. We had two wonderful meals during our stay. Brian and Alex are so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We will miss them and the laughs we shared❤️ We hope to return to Avignon again and stay at Bastide De Bellegarde.

Oh my goodness! If I could give more stars I would! My husband and I spent 4 nights here for my 60th birthday. Brian went above and beyond to make our stay memorable! He is a delightful and thoughtful host who works hard to make his home yours during your stay. The house and grounds have been beautifully restored and it is chock full of fabulous art and antiques without being stuffy. It even has a resident peacock - Caesar - who was so much fun to watch! The bastide is conveniently located near Avignon with easy access to other towns in Provence. And then there is the food! Brian is an amazing chef, who uses fresh, local and seasonal ingredients to create meals that are delicious and beautifully presented. Breakfasts are hearty enough to see you through your day’s adventure and the dinners are not to be missed. Do yourself a favor and stay here if you are in the area!

From the moment we arrived, Brian welcomed us as if he were longtime friends. He gave us a detailed tour of the hotel and our room and had lunch waiting for us when we arrived (we had requested this) and it was delicious. He made the stay feel special, he's always available. The breakfasts were the best (by far!) of any hotel or B&B were we've stayed before, so many choices and everything fresh and delicious. His diners were also a wonderful experience (so much food!), we tasted some cheeses we never thought we would enjoyed and they were outstanding. You can also bike to Avignon with bikes Brian lends you. We had a delightful stay and Brian made everything that much better.

My friend found this magical place as I was along for the ride, and what a ride it was. Brian is a world class host, yet so down to earth and approachable. His team made us feel at home with bottles of Rosa and amazing cheese while we finished the day at the pool. The food was over the moon and the best coffee ever to start the day. We had an idea of what we wanted to see and do but Brian gave us the inside track on where to go and who to see while exploring. Three fabulouse days, wish we stayed longer. He even let me drive his Mehari, it's like a small Jeep. Brian I went to the Merhari Factory in Cassis it was just 4 miles from our hotel and had a great tour. Thanks again and hope to see you soon.

What a marvelous place! You already start missing this Bastide on checking out. Brian is a walking definition of hospitality! Stylish rooms, quiet localisation, delicious slow food. Don’t miss to book a dinner there. Brian is a former chef and you will definitely experience one of best dinners in your life! My strong recommendation. Congrats Brian! 👏🏻

One of the most beautiful places and experiences I’ve had. So much that it inspired me to write my first Google review. Brian and Peggy are wonderful hosts. The grounds, food, room, pool, and Bastide itself are both peaceful and spectacular. I was sad to leave, and hope to come back again. Highly, highly recommended.

This hotel is a great experience. The setting, the art and hospitality are top notch. Common areas and all the rooms were fully remodeled without loosing the character of a property that was build over 100 years ago. The service provided is excellent and I would like to point out how good the breakfast was. You can also opt to have the owner-chef Brian to cook a fresh dinner every night for a very reasonable price. I would definitely go back when visiting Avignon.

Great experience, great service. Brian is an excellent host that will make anyone feel welcome. He looked for all opportunities to accommodate. We stayed 3 days and had great food, restful sleep, and excellent service. Brian offered to do some laundry, give us rides to the center of town, provided bikes, etc. Staying here was a unique experience; including watching Marius (guard peacock).

The Bastide de Bellegarde is a little gem in a natural and quiet environment at only 2km from Avignon city centre with host Brian who goes the extra mile to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The country house is decorated with good taste and style. The bedroom was large with a great bed (and even 2 peacocks sleeping on our windowsill). Breakfast is excellent and Brian will ensure you feel at home. For those who wish he prepares a delicious 3 course evening meal with fresh local ingredients. You can easily reach Avignon by bike (2km) or park your car on a free parking just across the bridge of Avignon (with free bus shuttle). We would strongly recommend a stay in the Bastide the Bellegarde when in the area. Danielle & Kenneth from Belgium

My family of 6 stayed 2 nights at Bastide de Bellegarde. Brian was so warm and lovely right from the very start. He helped us settle into our rooms, offered to let us use his laundry facilities, and really made us feel so welcomed. He made our stay a home away from home. My daughters were delighted with the beautiful and quiet peacocks who slept near their room. His chateau is very charming with different styles of decor in every area. The beds are super comfortable, the food, made by Brian was so delicious. We absolutely loved it. Thanks you Brian for such a wonderful experience. What a treasure and good memory this experience was.

Our stay at Bastide De Bellegarde was nothing short of amazing. Cannot say enough about the level of top shelf hospitality that Brian provided from the moment we arrived to our departure. Our enjoyment of Bastide De Bellegarde and the area in general was clearly top priority to Brian and he made sure we wanted for nothing. And that’s not even getting into the meals he cooked for us which were unbelievably delicious. This is a special place which you should make the effort to visit if at all possible. It’s a short, and extremely enjoyable, bike ride into Avignon and Brian has great bikes for guests to use. The included breakfast is fantastic and make an effort to participate in one of Brian’s dinners, I promise it will beat any dinner you’ll find in Avignon. We stayed two nights but I really think we could have enjoyed 4+. Make a stop here, you won’t regret it!

This is truly a hidden jewel. We travel extensively and have never had this great of an experience staying anywhere. Brian is the warmest most gracious host ever and yet hilarious, entertaining , and just so enjoyable to be around. The grounds, chateau, and rooms are so beautiful, comfortable, and very clean. Brian is also an excellent cook and so generous with his portions, coffee, and wine! We really hated to leave but will definitely return if we come back to France!

We spent 4 wonderful days at the Bastide. We will never forget the delicious meals that Brian cooked for us every evening. We stayed in a beautiful suite with a big terrace. The hotel is surrounded by a large garden. It’s a very relaxing and calm place, only a few minutes by car or bicycle from Avignon. We will definitely be back.

We loved staying here, even though it was only for a night. The room was comfortable and impeccably decorated. It was hard to leave! Brian is an amazing host and has done such a fabulous job with Bastide de Bellegarde. We loved that we could easily bike into Avignon. The breakfast was lovely as well. Brian really made us feel at home and we loved our stay. We hope to come back one day.

👍👍 This restaurant, which recently opened as a hotel as well, was fantastic. Completely modernized room in a lovely rustic mansion. Bathroom was large, with all new bathtub and shower, as was the bedroom. Onsite parking was great and allowed me to use this as my base when I took a daytrip to Nimes.
