Museum

👍👍 Came across this little gem by chance. Beautiful and fascinating arrange of tasbeehs made from various materials such as turtle shell, ivory etc. Not much information about them, history extra which is a shame. Free entry. People often mention museum,

Great little museum in a well restored Madrasah. The collection of Islamic religious art is quite impressive. The collection is made up of Hilye-i Şerif, which are poetic descriptions of Muhammed in artistic form, and Tesbih, which are prayer beads

The Hilye-i Şerif and rosary museum is in the Siyavuşpaşa madrasah building, which looks like a hidden gem between the Süleymaniye Mosque and the weighbridge dealers.

Hilye-i Sharif and historical rosaries await visitors in the 500-year-old madrasah. The restored Siyavuşpaşa Madrasa hosts the most rare examples of handicrafts… Rosaries Using Special Historic Stones Are Exhibited in Hilye-i Şerif and Rosary Museum

This is a very nice museum of prayer beeds. Even the museum building is a well taken care of historic one. It was built and used as a school at the time of Great Ottoman Empire, same as thousands within the empire. As expected in any school, there are more than a dozen of small classrooms within the building and each room has many different kinds of prayer beeds on display, and are made from precious stones. All are hand crafted and are very beautiful. It's about 25mins of walking distance from Eminonu Port are. Another great thing about thid place is there is no entrance fee, for the time being. Very cool place, would recommend to visit, it tells a story of a buried culture of Türkiye. Even tho it’s small, but would be nice to visit it as part of the rest of istanbul

Beautiful place, with very beautiful exhibits. We were able to do it easily within an hour. It is built in the dorms of a madrasa, making it extra special.

Would definitely recommend this museum. Very close to both Sulemaniye mosque and spice bazaar. Free museum and beautiful calligraphy. A worker called Bilal was very welcoming and seemed passionate about the contents in the museum and encouraged us to take pictures of all the rosemary beads and frames pertaining the description of the holy prophet. He even gifted me a little art book.
