Looks absolutely nothing like the photos, infact some photos you see advertised are for the hotel owned by the same people just up the beach. The ponds outside the bungalows have gross black water , never been cleaned, tiles are broken everywhere and look awful, thatching is falling apart, tiles in pool broken, staff pretty unaware, they Don't take cards, poolside rubbish gets left out, we noticed our pizza dish there 2 days later, lighting is awful at night, whole place needs refurbishment and a good clean, it's a health hazard. My kids have fallen over no end, everything is literally falling apart. Beach nice, but you can visit that for the day so don't waste money at this hotel.

I’m going to start not by reviewing the resort but the beach it perches at one end of. Crystal Bay is the big draw card here and really the star of the show. The beach is amazing; soft white sand, majestic uninterrupted view out into the Gulf of Thailand, shallow and calm water (perfect for kids) - unbeatable! Staying at Crystal Bay Beach Resort gives you unfettered access to this world class beach as from room to water is 60 seconds. We spent a full week here lazing on the beach and it was relaxing and regenerative. The resort itself however … is showing its age a bit, and there are a few caveats you need to understand (as of writing, July 2022) before you book. Firstly, the range of rooms at Crystal Bay Beach Resort run from amazing to dismal. I know this because we stayed in both types. You’ve 100% got to go for a room with a view - the economy rooms at the back are dark dingy dungeons you’re going to want to avoid. The sea view rooms are amazing though. Wake up, pull the curtains back and boom - ocean and beach for miles. It’s worth the extra price, IMO. Rooms themselves are clean, beds are comfortable, no problems there. Some staff are more helpful than others although the main lady in charge is great. A few other notes. Breakfast is set meal choice (4 or 5 options) rather than buffet and begins a bit later than most at 8am. It’s pretty plain and gets you through to lunch ok. Laundry is by the kg, and handled by the resort, which is convenient. Wi-fi can be dodgy in spots. The restaurants and bars along the beach were a little more expensive than we’d prefer so we’d often venture off down “the strip” just outside the resort to the left. There are three or four cheaper Thai spots down there but it’s mostly just closed down and old abandoned storefronts . Nothing much at all close by apart from our most visited place, 7-11! Overall thoughts: if you’re willing to pony up for a seaview room, love chilling on the beach, not interested in much else and willing to overlook a few rough edges, you’ll have a great stay at Crystal Bay Beach Resort.

Amazing location, but the hotel itself is showing signs of age. Some services had been stopped since covid like the cafe and shuttle to Lamai, and the place felt a bit short staffed. The rooms were quite basic, but the bed was extremely comfortable - nice and soft unlike a lot of the other hotels we stayed in Thailand. The beach was the best on the island by far and was very peaceful as there aren't many hotels nearby. If you do stay here, make sure to eat at Silver Spoon and Tips Tacos as they are much better than the hotel restaurant.

We did not stay in the resort but had a full day in their Beachfront or rather "on the beach" beach bar and restaurant. Service and food were great, with a variety of good cocktails . The location is amazing as you can see from the photos and the water and sand are the best in quality in entire Koh Samui. Very colourful beach bar and very exotic .

Prices are high. Coconuts are 120 and after you eat and want to pay, they tell you it is cash only, they don't take card. This information you tell people ahead of time. A large group of 8 next to us had a large meal. Then told to pay cash. Service is nonexistent. Cocktail was good, but make sure you bring cash.

Let’s just say when you book a room here, you’re paying mostly for the location. Could possibly be the best beach in Samui, absolute finest for sunrise swim or even skinny dipping under the moonlight. Quiet and peaceful at both times. From around 10am onwards the beach starts getting busy with visitors and could get even busier around 12pm - 4pm. Crowd lessen by 5pm, and if you stay in this hotel you’ll get the beach to yourself by then. Going back to the room: Sheets with stains in a few different spots, a little disgusting🫠 housekeeping for our 1st day arrived knocking at out door at 4pm, left us speechless as it’s very late and we need the room tidied in the morning. The next day it was done earlier, but I had to clean the bathroom myself all over as the floor was super sticky and the cleaner used way too much soap. It became slippery hence we had to wash it ourselves. To management team of the resort, for a beachfront accomodation, we suggest a few details to consider investing on: 1. Provide broomstick for each room as floors at the balcony and inside the room gets super sandy 2. Provide insect repellent or whatever that can be used for us to chase mozzies away 3. Small water hose / pail of water outside accomodation for us to wash our feet before bringing in our sandy toes inside the room Other than that, please get a Bank Card machine reader. Do you really expect tourists to carry around hundred thousands of baht and pay you in cash for 5 nights? It was pretty annoying having my passport confiscated because we do not carry a lot of cash (they return after full payment in cash is done) as we expected the hotel payment would be deducted online since booking was made via Agoda.. This place has a lot of potential, hope to see it improves in future.

The view is great and the manager lady is great as well. But during our stay we found after room cleaning service 2000 thai baht is missing from wallet that we kept open. But no refund was done although we were not looking for one. Be careful ❗️

Nice meals, good service and nice view. The beach right opposite is good to swim too. There are not many place for car park inside, may be best to park by the side of a street and walk.

Thank you Sunny and Team, for making our stay as enjoyable as possible and allowing us to listen to the ocean and nature, rather than loud old fashioned bar music. Thailand is becoming very loud, but please consider that some people come for the Peace and Quiet. Without any discussion did Sunny turn the music off for us. Thank you. We appreciate your humor and Hospitality. Crystal Bay needed you. I hope you are recognized and appreciated. Matilda B10

A very cute lil hotel with wonderful sea view. The rooms are neat and clean. The amenities include spa and massage, a restaurant cum bar and a swimming pool . This opens up at crystal beach. The staff is very helpful and well behaved. Stayed there for a night and really had a relaxing time with kids.

We had an amazing 5 night stay at this resort. It has everything you need, great food, massage services, and a beautiful beach. We had a gorgeous room with a large balcony. The service staff was exceptional, Sunny made sure we had lots of options for excursions and everyone, from the welcome desk to the maintenance staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. If we are ever back in Koh Samui we will definitely stay here. Thank you all.

We had amazing 2 days at this hotel. The view and the beach from the hotel is just stunning. Pros: 1. View from the restaurant is stunning. 2. when you stay at this hotel you can access the beautiful beach anytime and go for a dip. We used to daily visit the beach early morning. There is barely no one and the beach is all yours. 3. Food quantity and quality is pretty good, Omlette at breakfast was perfect. 4. Pool has sea view and you can relax here and have cocktails. Pool is cleaned daily. 5. Good stay if you are looking for a peaceful quiet location away from tourist places and market area. 6. We had requested for some personal special setup for our trip and the staff did it for us beautifully. 6. Rooms are Okayish with minimal decor and all amenities. 7. Resort has Direct access to Silver beach. Although there are Pros i want to list some cons which can be improved. Cons: 1. As the location is somewhat remote from main city, No nearby stores or cafes are available. 2. Very limited vegetarian breakfast options. Same breakfast is repeated daily. Also restaurant staff doesn't understand English. 3. Card payment was not accepted at restaurant. 4. Reception gets closed at 10PM and no service available after that.

An absolute delight to stay at. The staff are so kind and helpful. The rooms are clean and have incredible views over the best hidden gem of a beach in Koh Samui. The chef at the restaurant is incredibly talented (do yourself a favour and try her massaman curry 🍛) Happy hour is from 3-7 and you'll be waited on by the happiest barman on the island 🏝️ Make sure you invest in a snorkel because you can literally walk off the beach and explore a magnificent coral garden teeming with a phenomenal range of reef fish and other sea life (we even saw octopi 🐙) We hired a scooter through reception and had a great time riding over the island. Lamai and all its attractions are around the corner, and Cheweng is just over the hill. But you could happily survive here without moving. We sat on our balcony with our morning coffee every day watching squirrels, birds and tree snakes play in the trees. This place rocks. Thank you for a great time Crystal Bay team🥰🐠🪸

Superb place with one of the best beaches of Samui right in front. Very friendly people, good internet, nice pool, good beds. Not so much activity at night and not so many eateries around, but very relaxing, Lamai is only 5 minutes ride away.

Great little hotel, affordable and good location. Has a pool (small) a bar/breakfast area overlooking the beach, The beach downstairs. And a 4 bed massage area , open air and overlooking the ocean. Friendly staff. It is a very good medium/affordable price . Good value for money. We had the big family room with bunk beds - not needed for us2 but the room would be great for families.

Beautiful resort. Not like the larger resorts. The staff bend over backwards for us. Cafe/restaurant has great food. Something for everyone. Stunning views

First of all I must say that this is not really a resort, it's rather a hotel positioned on a busy and noisy road, run by kind people. Unfortunately you can hear the noise of the road from many of the rooms and from the bar/ pool area. I must also say that at night the road is quite silent, but during the day it's super busy. The pool is minuscule, in front of the bar/main road and in the middle of the way to the beach, so not inviting and relaxing at all. The only highlight is the beach, which is absolutely stunning! The complex is quite old, although some parts have been renovated. My room (a superior) was ok, quite clean, very comfy bed, good silent aircon. Bedsheets and towels had stains. Breakfast was ok, but nothing special. This place is a good solution for one or two nights, but personally I wouldn't spend more time here. For a longer vacation, I'd rather stay in nature, far away from a busy road.

A chilled beach. Run into it by Riding a scooter along the coast. Calm bay with nice aqua water, small surf. Fine sand with lots of shades.

This is a very nice resort on the most besutiful beach for swimming and relax. The room and bathroom are large and very nicely designed. The manager Bee is very helpful and provided me all the assistance. It was very hard decision to leave the resort. Hope to come back soon. Thank you for the wonderful time I had.

This is jewel to be treasure d. It was well kept, clean, neat and tidy. We could truly let our hair down and drink deeply of the beautiful atmosphere. We left refreshed and prepared any situation we were about to face. You'd be doing yourself a disservice if you never used their facility.

Great place to stay. A little farther than the twenty minutes from the airport advertised, but not a trek at all, especially since they arrange pick up from the airport. The staff is super helpful and the restaraunt on site is very good. The only downside here was the pool. The pool was pretty small and dirty. The size they can't do anything about, but it was pretty clear they didn't make an attempt at cleaning the pool. That being said, the beach is right there which is why I still gave it five stars. Overall, they helped make our visit to Koh Samui great!

We as a family had a good stay there. The resort is clean, nice garden and modern building. The swimming pool was nice looking, but only one time I saw somebody inside. Better place was directly on the beach. The stuff was friendly and we got every day new towels. The breakfast is very good, you can choose thaifood and also western style. Sure it is a place to come once again to visit. Thank you for our great time we had there.

This bay is beautiful. The accommodations were fine but not the absolute best. The reception staff was kind and arranging transfer services was quite easy. But, the breakfast was mediocre and the pool area was quite cramped. We had a great big balcony area which was nice because the beach was quite busy even though it was low season.

One of our favorite places in Koh Samui! We always come back every year (not this year due to Covid-19...) The beach is the best in all of Samui! We love the bungalows (and the upgrade that has been done!), big nice and comfy beds. Breakfast is also great. If you don't like noise and partying, this is the place to go! If you do like some "action", Lamai is just a short drive away, either by taxi or transport provided by the hotel. Love it - are definitely coming back again - as soon as we are able to travel!

Reception area was not very clear, but we got sorted out quickly. Lovely comfortable rooms. Pool area great. Was very quiet. I can understand that covid caused staff challenges, hopefully during normal times the hotel staff contribute to cleaning the public beach.

Great location , near the ocean, room was ok, nice for relaxing. We stayed there 3 nights with our friends. Pool area is so nice , Crystal Bay is small area, don't expect much. We stayed there covid time it was so quiet, restaurant was closing early. Every room have small balcony and table, buy some drinks and enjoy ur moments.

It could be quite the nice beach with a private feeling to it. When we visited it was covered in algee and not so nice after all. Lots of rocks instead if sand as well. If you have scooter I'd recommend checking out other nearby beaches.

  • 4/5 M. A. 2 years ago on Google
Definitely the fanciest place on the beach. Solid food and good drinks combined with live DJ music (actually a good one) makes this place worth a visit.

  • 1/5 Lee 2 years ago on Google
They do not advertise that it is cash only and the management are not interested in the slightest. Much better places along the same beach. Don’t waste your time

The resort is well located along a beautiful beach in a small bay with large stone boulders. Rooms have a good mattress and nice bathroom. A little older but that did not bother us: we had a breach front villa. Even rooms further inside have a nice tropical feel and a worth it to book. Food in the restaurant is pricey, drinks affordable, service pleasant. We enjoyed our stay!

A simply stunning location overlooking a beautiful bay with amazing turquoise blue water. I stayed with my family and after a long trip was happy to be welcomed with warm hospitality. The staff waiting up late to check us and were very pleasant and helpful. We will be back, thanks again TIM

Didn't stay at the resort, just a quick stop to check out the beach. If we'd had more time would have returned as nice stretch of beach

Lovely resort tucked into the edge of Crystal Bay. Our room was larger than we expected. It also provided a private patio area over looking the beach. The on-site restaurant was amazing. Some of the best Thai food we had while on our trip. We had intentions of traveling around the area and trying different restaurants but we found ourselves eating here more times than not. The spa was well placed and provided the perfect spot to relax after a day on the beach. The area around the hotel is walkable if you head toward Lamai. The resort staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. We would happily stay here again on our next trip.
