If you're passing by, this is a nice place to stop for around 20 minutes. Also, the site of the "mumified monk", see attached photo of plaque which gives more information. There is a school attached to the Temple at the back, and they're requesting English teachers just now providing free accommodation.

Usually I not rate temples as they are sacred places of worship.. but this one I will recommend everyone to go and see because of Mummified Monk . This Monk had asked for his body to be Mummified for people to see and realize the fragility of life .. Must visit in koh Samui.

I find it odd that they put sunglasses on him but oh well. Nice temple. Mummified monk. Free entrance and parking. There's a little yard that you can also visit behind the main temple.

Nice temple with a mummified monk. Nevertheless not that much to see as the Wat was closed and the temple for the monk was quite small.

This temple (in thai 'wat') is one of the smaller ones in Thailand. Nevertheless, it has a special sort of entertainment for their visitors. The highlight is the mummified monk in a showcase. Sarcastically, the Thais put sunglasses on the monk. The rest of this wat is similar to the majority of all wats in Thailand. Go and visit this place, once you are on Samui ;-)

Another part of the Koh Somui Island tour from Mr Somui, (details about him in another review later). Every village has its own temple and monk. Again this is another interesting story which you can read about when you visit.

Quite a different experience for me, the old Monk in the glass case has been there 40 Years it seems, quite a challenge in this heat. I wonder if one day he will be laid to rest.

This was a small site... There is a mummified monk in a glass enclosure with shades on. The story is that this well loved Buddhist monk eyes deteriorated and he became blind. This is why the shades were left on him. Neat to see once.

A mummified monk. It's a good point of interest. The monk still has hair. He has glasses because his eyes decayed.

This was the highlight of the tour, absolutely amazing. If you kneel on the red carpet and wish for something, then shake the sticks, you can see your future. Well worth seeing, no charge for photo's. Ladies to cover shoulders.

Wow once in a life time, never have I heard or seen anything like the the legendary monk who passed away through meditation and his body still looks like this after 50 years! The hair, teeth and nails still grown and have to be maintained the sun glasses are worn so the eye are no longer there!

Lovely little hidden find, fascinating to learn about Wat Khunaram. Also an elephant hospital behind, they were not open when we arrived, but was hesitant to visit when I saw the welcome video and I seen that the elephants were chained.

The mummified monk is a must see in Koh Samui. Another stop along many of the tours on the island, bring questions and don't be afraid to ask your tour guide or tour guides near the temple. Would suggest anyone visit this incredible spot.

I came with respect. Great person who devoted his life and wealth into good things. Please wear properly when coming to see him.

very interesting and also a little mystical "tront" the monk who died in 1973 and has been mimicked since then has been preserved behind glass for posterity to this day

Fascinating how three different religions are peacefully neighboring in the same place. Worth visit, one of the biggest and nicest temples in Koh Samui

Not sure this is a tourist attraction, more a place of worship, which is probably why there arent any boards or info to explain what exactly you are looking at and why, what is the background etc. Im still none the wiser having googled it, other than learning that this monk wished to be mummified. As far as a place to worship goes, i cant comment, but on reflection, as a tourist, I'd give it a miss. The lack of info makes me think its not intended as a tourist attraction and therefore best leave it to those who want to whorship without tourist taking pics of some thing they dont really understand (a bit like i did if im being totally honest !)

Main attraction is the mummified monk, which is different. Not much else to see and pretty small compared to other temples I've been to.

Serene temple with actual monk mummy. The mummy still keeps up the appearances with cool shades. Shades are accepted as donations as well.
