Well, where to begin? Our hotel receptionist recommended this restaurant, but we didn't take him seriously at first because it was just across the street. So, we headed into the old town and wasted 30 minutes trying to find something that shouted out to us. Failing that we returned, crossed the street and looked at the menu, and the day's specials. Nice! We went inside and noticed that all the tables in the front were taken. No problem according to the maître d', and we were led into an adjoining room in the back, positioned to a table reserved for a Hr. Kreß (scharfe s...must have been an old family name as it shouldn't require that now). We were informed that his party would be arriving in an hour. There was also another couple sitting at the table. We felt at ease knowing we were both in the same time sensitive boat. Our waiter performed several miracles...the menu was promptly forthcoming and our drinks likewise. We placed our orders...my wife took the day's special, calf liver, with onions and fried potatoes, while I chose the 3 sausages with sauerkraut and substituted fried potatoes instead of bread. Now our waiter was managing 12 tables, and was a genius in his efficiency, all the while so friendly. Our meals came quickly and tasted heavenly. I highly recommend this restaurant!!

Very good, typically Franconian food. Great menu card, laid out like a newspaper, with info about the pub and inside the list of food and drinks in large print. The items are listed in Franconian dialect, with a German explanation underneath. I'm not sure whether there are menus in other languages. We sat in the beer garden - large and pleasantly green in the centre of Bamberg. It's best to reserve a table, as the garden, and probably inside, too, is very popular with tourists and locals.

Nice beer stop in the center of Bamberg. A very welcoming small garden offers full-service for food. If you only go for a beer, tables are near the kiosk. Very friendly staff and happy locals. Be a local for a day.

The waiter admitted that everyone has been complaining about the potatoes. "That's just how they taste," he said. "But we need to get through them now." No refund. So we had to pay for their bad selection of food. Beer was fine, but there are much better places in Bamberg.

Pleasant outdoor seat. Although the waitress was busy around. The Schaufele was super delicious, crispy skin with tender meat, which brought the best experience. Side dish was good as well. Schnitzel was decent portion. You will get your stomach full when you leave.

Perfect location with their own beer 🍻 and one of the best schnitzel in the city. Make sure to go there with hunger because the portions are Babaria big ,,😁.... The beer love it, Bratkartoffeln two portions and the service has friendly has it can get. Place is easy to access and if you go with time there can be some places to sit free, whatever it is is worth the wait...

The beer and service here deserve 10 stars!! Everyone working here was helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and refreshing. The grilled chicken salad was amazing. This ended up being one of our favorite breweries in Bamberg!

Beer tasted exceptionally good and reasonably priced. Shäuferla tasted good, but i would change kloz to fried/roasted potatoes

Usually they have Märzen, Export and Radler + seasonal, but it wasn't available during our visit. Both beers are solid, the food comes fast and is delicious, though be prepared that house-smoked pickled cheese is a very peculiar thing (stinky sourish and smoked, so be warned, but I loved it).

Perfect affordable German restaurant! I loved the choice of sausages. This also was one of the few places offering liver sausage. The choice of Beer was a bit poor. Perhaps tourist season has not started and you get those euro premium beers which is enough for the average taste. But the great, authentic atmosphere and awesome home food - loving it!

Good beer. Food good as well but did not eat this time. Reasonably priced. Serving staff efficient and welcoming. Still use a lady with a plate to protect the toilets!

This was a great taste of the German experience. It was a great atmosphere out in the beer garden sitting among other Germans. The server didn't speak much English but she was patient with me working on my German. The schnitzel was massive and tasted great. The potatoes were nice and crispy with great flavor. Whatever dressing they put on the salads is addictive its so good. I had their seasonal Keller beer and loved it. You will have to flag down the servers when if you need things like the check which is the German way. I had a great time and will be going back again.

Best meal I’ve had in Germany! Finally, no overcooked pork!! Fell off the bone! Dumplings on point and the gravy sauce was a great addition. Missus had the Weiner schnitzel. Delicious. To top it off, the service was fantastic. Kind and warming waitresses. Tasty beer. Thank you!

Awesome food and service even when busy. Great atmosphere friendly staff whos spoken English was excellent. The roast pork with sauerkraut and potato dumpling was particularly good very filling and highly recommended. Their beer was pretty good too. 5 stars, highly recommended.

We came to this place completely by accident. Staff was very nice and friendly! Food and beers was fresh, delicious and in fair price. Very clean toilets. If we ever visit this city again, we will definitely come back here. Keep it up!

Great beer! Loved the sausages and Chilli Chicken. Service was quick. It was a delight to have lunch in a courtyard kind of setup.

I've been here in past years, but the beer tonight (Marzen) was definitely sub-standard. Cloudy and dull. That's not a Franconian Lager !

Good schäuferle and potato dumplings, decent sauce and great potato salad. The pork schnitzel was underwhelming and the salad dressing had tons of sugar though. Quick orders coming from an assembly line and quick service, rate that as you may.

Bamberg has many great breweries but this one is a must visit. Friendly staff that wants to make you feel relaxed. The menu has something for everyone and you won’t be disappointed. Conveniently located in town.

Very nice place with local smoked beer and traditional cuisine. Nice staff, not very big yet comfy.

Great old pub. The distancing and contact tracing requirements are implemented quite well, the beer brewed by the in-house brewery is mostly pretty good (not a fan of the Märzen, though), and the choice of food is what you'd typically expect in Bamberg. Can get very busy on Sunday evenings!

I really like the outdoor sitting area, very cozy between the buildings!!! Visiting from Munich, and we had a good time. Bier, Food, and servers were awesome! Went with two native Germans, I attempt my not so good German and the waitress was super friendly and I believe they English speaking friendly! The Karpfen was AMAZING! Cooked very tasty and not over nor under cooked!

🫤 Margarita pizza is 6 out of 10. Good, but nothing special. A glass of water to it cost me almost 4 euros, in many places water is free, but here... In cold weather they served it to me with Ice. They charged me 4 euros more and put ice in it... I'm done :)
