Interesting place to try out the cable car trip up to the hill top for a scenic view of Songkla. Awesome view. Part of the place is still being renovated and undergoing restoration works. Before you leave, do try out the coconut ice cream stalls just outside entrance. Toppings of your choice. Yummy.

This is where you will be able to see the little town of Songkhla from the height. To access the top of the hill you will have to use an elevator with a service fee of 30 THB. You will find an amazing view of the city from the top. There's also a Buddhist temple and a small pavilion which was built by the previous King. Overall you will not be disappointed by the scenery.

Khao Tangkuan is one of the important tourist attractions in Songkhla Province. Khao Tangkuan is a hill approximately 2,000 feet above sea level. From the top of Tangkuan Hill, views of the surrounding city of Songkhla can be seen. On the top of Tang Kuan Hill is the Chedi Phra That of Songkhla. which was built during the Nakhon Si Thammarat Kingdom It is an art form of the Dvaravati period. The area of Khao Tang Khao, according to history, was originally the city of Tang U. The governor of Tang U is called by the villagers. “Father of the city of Tang U” has a royal teacher named “Plod” Phra That Chedi on Tang Kuan Hill. Father Mueang Tang U was the builder and Phra Rajakhru Plod was the construction manager. On Saturday, the 15th day of the waxing moon, the 9th month of the Year of the Rabbit, corresponding to 22 July 1853, construction took 8 years from the start of construction until 2012, making it 702 years old. White and clear, the size of a jar. Entered on Saturday, the 15th day of the waxing moon, 7th lunar month, year of the dog, corresponding to 26 May 1861. The glass of Sarapadnuek came from heaven. Said that one day the sky was overcast, heavy rain, lightning, thunder shook the sky, shook the house, shook the city. When the rain was dry, the sky was calm and the city was bright as usual. So there was a large crystal ball. The townspeople understood that the gods in heaven had given it to the prosperity of Tang U City. The governor of Tang U therefore built the Phra That Chedi. On top of Tang Kuan Mountain at the highest point and containing this crystal in the Phra That Chedi. So that prosperity spreads throughout Tang U City. The caretaker of the Chedi Phra That throughout. In 1859, King Rama IV visited Songkhla. After that, in the year 1866, His Majesty graciously ordered To Chao Phraya Wichian Kiri (Hedgehog)Reconstructed the Phra That Chedi to make it taller than before and built a mansion. (The pavilion that resides) at the base of the pagoda. and add a sedan to the corner of the wall Later, in December 1996, His Majesty King Borommanat Bophit (Rama IX) bestowed the royal relics to be placed in the Chedi Chedi Phra That. It is considered something that holds the hearts and minds of the people of Songkhla and every year there is a tradition of Chak Phra. and change the blankets on the pagoda During the month of October which is considered one of the big events in Songkhla Province

To get to the peak of Tangkuan Hill, visitors are corraled into a medium sized elevator than makes it's way laterally up the hillside. The ride up to the peak lasts around 5 minutes and the only scenery is the black walls of the elevator tunnel and odd patches of greenery that can be seen through a few hatches in the tunnel. At the peak, you'll find a few scenic viewing areas and many many monkeys. The monkeys overrun the place and generally don't bother tourists unless they hear the crinkle of plastic bags. Songkhla lies sandwiched between the sea on the left and a large lake on the right, making for a nice view and a good photo opportunity. Overall rather mediocre, but it barely costs anything to take the elevator so why not?

There is no entrance fee if you walk up there. You can pay for an elevator which is more convenient. You can see a very nice panoramic view of Songkla City.

I visited on Saturday morning. The ticket was only 45? I forget. There was only me up there. Though it's hot, the views are cool. I got to see Songkhla and the islands nearby. And there's also stairs, kind of hidden, that lead us to a beautiful building like a castle. Probably it is.

The historical hill top is the highest point in the city, with 360° view of Songkhla city. Main residents are the long tailed macaque, so be aware of your belongings. The hill is also the home of the sacred royal temple, Phra Chedi Luang. 450-baht to get to the top by a lift (up and down), so it is worth the experience.

  • 5/5 André L. 3 years ago on Google
Only THB 30,00 for the lift to go up the hill and from there you have a beautiful view over Songkhla. Just take care of your food and drinks, because the monkeys are seriously interested in that. 🙉🙊

A hill to overlook the beautiful Songkhla and it’s surrounding region. There are a pile of trash, I assume as part of the construction, but otherwise, it’s a great site to visit. Plenty of mouse and I love the life affirming quotes at its wall.

Interesting hill with a ramp to get up there. Price of tickets cost 30baht for adults and children unless ure height is less than 120cm which makes it 20baht. Nothing much to do up there and sadly it isn't well maintained. The view is amazing though so it's still a decent place to visit. Can get crowded during peak periods.
