The most crowded spot on the beach is the mermaid statue, but there are plenty of other places to relax and enjoy the view. We spent about 15-20 minutes jogging and taking photos, then grabbed a beverage from Amazon Coffee and continued to chill on the beach. Overall, Mermaid Beach is a good place to chill and enjoy a relaxing evening.

Beautiful beach to spend your evenings! There are local vendors nearby for quick snacks and souvenirs. This is a small size statue roughly human size. People were in queue to get pictures taken with the mermaid though 😁

The busiest place on this beach is around the Mermaid statue, it takes a long time to take a photo in front of the statue, because the queue is long, the beach is clean, the location is fun to explore and there are souvenir shops & drink sellers available

Good place to walk in the evening for chilling and picnic. All you have to do is bring your own mat, cups, plates, rubbish bag and cutlery. Along the street, there are people selling food and drinks; fried crab, prawn fritters, fruits and ice cream etc. The prawn fritters are so good, crispy with lots of prawn definitely recommended to get them. As for the mermaid sculpture, it's no longer golden as the name described. The best is just to take photo from far as it will be crowded and during pandemic, best not to touch it. According to my mom, the sculpture smells a bit weird. There are few activities you can do there like picnic, play kite, horse riding, swim or just whatever you can do at the beach. Washroom and shower room available along the beach by the small shops selling clothes and hats, 5-10 Baht per entry.

Samila beach is synonymous with the Golden Mermaid, already 54 years old in 2022. A must visit to Songkla. After photo taking session, do try the pony ride around the beach. Of course another photo session by professional. Reasonably priced too. Again, you must try the coconut ice cream with toppings of your choice. Aroi mak mak (Very delicious in Thai). Continue with photo taking with Cat and Mouse statue nearby. Also look out for the Mouse and Cat Islands too. Fascinating.

Nice airy beach space great for a day out with families. There's horse / pony rides for kids around and lots of small stores selling knick knacks / snacks / sand building toys. A bunch of seafood stores just down the road as well - great for dinner !

💢 You may need to queue in order to take the pictures with the statue. Around this area there are local vendors where you can get souvenirs and street foods. If you come from Hatyai Town, it will take 40 min journey to here. Advisable to rent a bike, by tuk tuk or Grab. ‼️ This mermaid was sculpted in 1966 by Jitr Buabus, the former director of the Arts and Craft College in Bangkok. It was constructed with a budget of 60,000 Baht funded by Songkhla Municipality and has become the symbol of Samila Beach ever since.

It hasn't been a long time since childhood until old age. The statue is still the same. Get the same old atmosphere, reminisce about your childhood.

Beautiful place. The statue is historic, and there's a lovely story behind it. The statue itself is placed on a rock overlooking the South China Sea. Best to visit on weekdays as it can get crowded on weekends. Plenty of drink and snack kiosks nearby as well.

I came here about 10 years ago. Nothing changed much. But the statue still remains as favorite spot for photoshoot. You could possibly get a good deal for things sold at nearby shops. We managed to get various type of baskets at the open area much cheaper than other places.

There is no entrance fee to enter the public beach area, even if it is in front of the school.

The Golden Mermaid Sculpture is considered a prominent symbol and landmark of Songkhla. I was actually surprised because the sculpture was a lot smaller than I expected. I'd recommend going on a weekday when it's less crowded.

Apart from not really is my cup of beach, everything is okay. Lots of street vendors that offer snack & beach necessities. In addition, the beach is clean.

Locals say to touch the breast of the mermaid, and your wish may come true. Come just before sunset to get the best lighting and color. And don't forget to make a wish while cupping a handful of bronze. Oh yes, there is a beach with not so soft sand and horses that you can pay to ride.

If you go to Songkhla, you must visit this mermaid at least once. It's at the same Samida beach 🏖 area where you'll find Thai cowboys with their horses offering you a ride with their well trained horses. Also on the same beach is the cat and mouse sculpture. There's a history to the existence of both. 😂

Hot when sunny.. otherwise, it's not Songkla if you don't visit the mermaid, I guess

1st time here, love the vibes of the beaches. There are bunches of food stall available around here. If looking for seafood also I would say can go for it since the price quite ok. Not too pricey not too cheap. Would say reasonable.

Something you had to see and take pictures with as proof you arrived in Samilla Beach. Quite a long queue taking turns to take pictures with it but not consuming much time if everyone understands that you shouldn't be taking long time posing etc when others are waiting.
