Good location, convinient access to city. Has good facilities. Reasonable price. Hotel needs renovation as it is an old property and pest control in dining area. Staff are kind and helpful.

Hotel is old but room was clean. Aircon is on or off, temp settings don't work but it wasn't hot when I was there. Location is very good. I booked it because it was weekend and many places were busy. It is also good for big bike parking with plenty space underground

We are still feeling the effects of covid. There are not many guests so some of the bars and shops are closed. However, my stay was very pleasant. The rooms are modern, nice, comfortable, and clean. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful.

For a 4 star hotel I was expecting a lot better quality. Rooms are dated and the bathrooms especially aren’t very nice, both the faucet and the shower water didn’t drain because the drains were clogged. Building itself is nice but a little old. Mattress were extremely hard and not comfortable. You can definitely find much nicer hotels in the area. But, the price was relatively affordable and location is close to the night market which was great. Overall, it was fine but we won’t stay here again.

Update 12/30/22 - I came back after 3 nights away and it almost feels unfair to not write this update as a separate review because the experience is so much more different... The rooms in this hotel definitely have very very different levels of refinement and rehabilitation. Some rooms look very dated and are a terrible value at 1500 baht a night, while other rooms (suites) are a terrific value at 2800 a night. Rooms in excellent condition with very modern touches throughout and everything being in much better condition and quality. My current suite is fantastic and I am surprised that it is even in the same hotel. I did pay more this time, but in this particular situation, the age old adage of " you get what you pay for" could not ring any clearer. The rating reflect my most recent experience. The original experience was 3 stars with 3 stars for room, 4 stars for service, and 5 stars for location.... Original Review- 12/23-27/2022 I have a feeling that this was one of the shining stars of Chiang Mai's hospitality scene in its heyday but those days have passed... I dont know how many of you are familiar with Las Vegas, this hotel has the smell of an off-strip hotel, the kind that caters to the locals. The musky smell of faded glory is strong and if these walls could talk... I'm sure there would be some fabulous stories about weddings, birthdays, seafood buffets and... Otherwise, for an old hotel, as long as one doesn't expect a super modern botel, one shouldn't be too disappointed. Many of the hinges creak and often the doors do not quite align, the water pressure was excellent but the lack of hot water was very, very disappointing. It was a very good value and pro tip - the lady at the hotel told me directly it is cheaper to book a room using a 3rd party site than it is to book directly. It's one of those hotels that it's definitely cheaper not to book directly. (Unless one is doing a 30 day or longer stay, than it is much cheaper to book direct) The cleaning lady was excellent, very efficient and her timing was impeccable. No matter how briefly I would leave the room, as long as I had the sign requesting the room be cleaned, it most certainly was. Since I stayed during the holidays, I was sure to give a generous tip every day. ^^

Avoid avoid avoid!! The hotel may have the amenities of a four star hotel, but in practice, it is the quality of a two star hotel. It is in desperate need of an update. The lifts are painfully slow, don't try and go to breakfast at 8am the lifts will take longer than breakfast! They say the breakfast last until 10:30 but we went at 9:30 and they seemed to have stopped cooking! Overall, the quality of the food was pretty poor. The pool is incredibly cold, and in a terrible location, there is no sun on the pool area at midday. You also have to sign for your pool towels?! The room was nice but again tired, not very good soundproofing, both the toilet and the tap both leaked and there was dust / mold on one of the light fittings. Last but not least, the airport transfer isn't free as stated on the website, we were informed that it was actually 150 baht per person. If you are after a good 4 star hotel then avoid. If you are after cheap accommodation with breakfast and a pool, this might be for you the location is good.

Very good location. Value for money hotel. Room is spacious and clean. Breakfast buffet included. Overall a pleasant 2night stay. We checked in at 2pm however our room wasn't ready until 6pm. We are fine as we were out for massages and dinner. Good stay for groups of 16 pax.

Location is good. A Lot of Shops & food stall nearby, walking distance. BUT not a good experience stay with the hotel. Yes, room is large. Maintenance really needed. The floor that i stay, light bulbs at the lift lobby not working & dark yet no maintenance come & changed. Cleanliness is poor, spider on the bed. And happened that half of my slipper accidentally go under the bed, when pull out my slippers, OMG alot of dust & hair come out together 🤦‍♀️. The mattress is old and deformed, and don't feel it when I don't lie down. As soon as you lie down, the whole side sinks. Anyone sleeping beside them felt it. Very uncomfortable. Can't rest well at all 🤦‍♀️

Great location. Smelly hallway and lobby. Old Hotel looks dated. My room got many strands of long hairs, dusty room. Toilet not clean. The hotel room photos on booking website looked new but it does not reflect the current state of the property. The whole hotel is in need of a major overhaul. The restaurant of daily breakfast buffet is in need of a revamp. Dirty dining hall, the spread is all over the place. Will certainly not go back there again.

We booked 3 suite rooms in Duangtawan for holiday purpose. Very big hotel and spacious room since it's a suite room. And this my 2nd time stay here. 5 star for the suite room which had 2 bathrooms , 1 living hall, and one living room. Housekeeping cleans the room everyday. Breakfast was good as well. We got our welcome drinks upon arrive and staff also very friendly expect one lady in kaunter was being rude during our check out was late. That was quit disappointed. Maybe she could say it in polite way. Anyway, it's ok since our mistake also was there bcos late check out due to some laundry issues. Location- 5 star for the location, walking distance to daily night market. Massage centre also just in front of the hotel. Food streets also walking distance. Overall it was a great stay in Duangtawan!

Positives: - Location is very central and good, there is a big parking for cars as well. - Breakfast is good with a lot of options - Nice bathroom - Cheapish Negatives: - Out of 10 showers only 1 time was the water not cold and no pressure as well - Everything is kinda old and run down, the lobby stinks from mould to the point you can't stand there more than 1 minute - Beds are really hard, only 1 electrical socket far from bed, curtains and furniture are old and smelly - "Aircondition" doesn't work - Service similar to 1 star hotel - This hotel seems like it was a impressive 5star hotel a long time, but now its far from the case. Really in need for improvement

The male Manager at reception was the worst. Both at check-in and at checkout. He refused to have any conversation with me, acted like he didn't understand English, (I am Asian-American)...but he talked perfectly fine English with White foreigners, and even gave them the courtesy of checking them in early. He declined to even look at my passport and pull up my reservation... My wife later had to speak to him and call him out on helping others ahead of us. Then he finally began to help us, but she unfortunately had to be very direct to get anything done for us. 4 weeks traveling Asia, my wife and I never experienced the lack of professionalism. They would at least scan and start our reservation paperwork even if we were early. At checkout he certainly remembered me, refused to even say a word to me, had his coworker check me out. I thanked his coworker, and then turned and thanked him as well in good gesture. He began talking to his coworker in Thai quite rudely in a tone I can only imagine as someone who is talking badly about someone. Good location...but I never felt so disrespected on a vacation trip. Hope you have a better experience if you choose to stay. Good luck in your travels!

Pretty nice hotel. A bit older as demonstrated by the older bathroom, elevator,  etc.   I could have done a better job caulking the toilet, tub, etc.   Haha. Shower is old style with 2 handles and didn't drain well and shower head short for anyone over maybe 5-8. Took about 20 minutes after my shower to drain so if multiple people, plan accordingly...at least my room.    Surprised slippers were absent.   TV was very small (maybe 32 inch?) and bed was hard for my taste.  One of the bigger gyms I have seen in a hotel with many aerobic machines,  weight machines, free weights,, etc.  Some of it is pretty out-dated however but still able to get in my workout.   Also had an odd shaped room with locked door to adjoining room.  At 1 point the other people in that room unlocked their door....a bit scary...luckily our door was locked..   Decent deal online so overall satisfied.

The hotel is just located behind the Night Bazaar and 10 min walk from the Phae gate. You can feel the aged facilities and decorations at the lobby and in the room, yet and the room is neat and clean which is comfortable. The water from the shower is a bit weak but hot water is available. Gym room and swimming pool is quite big and recommended. Pay additionally for breakfast buffet which is also recommended, with variety of international dishes including veggie, western, halal, Thai. The price is really attractive for the stay in a nutshell.

Is a beautiful upmarket old-fashioned, classy hotel. We came in off-season, so it's not as busy, but this means some things aren't open. The pool is great and clean. Drinks are a tad expensive, but food seems reasonable.

Great place to stay, close to everything. Only problem as l am a coeliac l had breakfast of omelet and was told the roll l had was gluten free. But when l got back to our room l was very ill with vomiting and diaheria. Maybe people should know about the problem having gluten and wheat. I tell you its not good at all. I am always careful wherever I go. Just take more care.

I'm not sure if I bagged a bargain, but I was staying in a massive suite on the 20th floor including the buffet breakfast for just over $50 Aussie per night. Location is exceptional being walking distance to the entertainment complex, night markets and old town. Every amenity is there including a huge pool, a gym, a grand ballroom, and even an outdoor function spot if you're having a huge shindig. Big tip is that reception is on the second floor in case you get there and can't figure out where you are meant to be (like I may have done...)

Booked three nights with this hotel because my mother praised this place so much. This hotel is by far the best hotel stay during our 3 weeks in Thailand. I like their check-in and check-out process because it feels like the US: gave our passports, receptionist told me what they offered and asked for my credit card for security deposit, and when it's time to check-out then I just hand in the cards and nothing else (not like other hotels that they have to go check and wasting 5+ minutes of my time). The rooms are quite nice, but the room needs a bit of sound proof though because I can hear when others are showering. And, on my second night, my next door neighbor is hella loud.

Booking a room was a hassle. Their Facebook and website provided phone numbers with "offers," but ended up being told by the reservation staff to email them. They had a live customer but chose to risk losing a booking. Finally booked through Agoda and paid more than their promotion price. I live in Chiang Mai and am exploring the local hotels. Having said that, the hotel staff was friendly, making up for the disappointing booking experience.

For an older hotel it's not too bad, it's great if you want easy access to the night bazaar, breakfast was standard hotel fare. Room was very clean & staff were helpful. Thermostat for AC was not working (stuck on freezing) otherwise not too bad.

P-O-S Hotel (you make the assumption of the abbreviation) of this hotel. I can only give this place a 1 star for it's location and that's me being more generous than I should be, the room was hot the ac barely functioned , room was so so clean, old and musky smell , staff was barely helpful or existing never to found when needed. Not worth a single baht a night at this hotel of horror , Thank goodness I had my Thai friend who had her own room and I was able to share, because according to the concierge they were fully booked and could not give me another. And no refund for the unused garbage room . Stay away from this dump.

Good & clean hotels. We enjoy our stay here on 3 days during pur vacation in chiang mai. The place just so close to the night market, and easy to reach good restaurant also spa around. At the hotel also they have spa. If you are vegan or vegetarian, or looking for halal food, they provide on a breakfast time. It helps a lot. They have a dim sum buffet that you can enjoy with discount if you stay there. But, its totally pork.

Check in was swift and efficient, and this carried on through all services. The room we had was very large, on a corner. It was well equipped and had a good selection of toiletries each day. Breakfast had a large selection, but unfortunately only warm, with European and Thai choices. Room service gave a good choice of well flavoured offering at a reasonable price. It is well situated to reach most of the highlights with a short walk, and the street food markets are all over the place. Street markets are right by it. If you walk around Chiang Mai it is easy to get back to as you can see the hotel or the Marriot, opposite, from all over the city, almost.

Whole building is way too old. The smell inside is really bad (smells old). Outdated for sure. Photos were misleading, rooms dont look as nice as in photos. One nice thing is pool which is on 4 floor but the pool flooring is from tiles and it feels like stepping on sharp stones. They have jacuzzi which is barely working and nasty. Tho breakfast was nice and a lot of option to choose from.

  • 4/5 Rhin L. 6 months ago on Google
The location of this hotel is wonderful. You are within walking distance of many markets, shops, and restaurants. Lots of facilities nearby. The hotel itself also has a lot to offer - gym, pools, restaurants, sauna and jacuzzi. The room itself left a little bit to desired, and the layout in the bathroom is confusing and made the shower and toilet a little bit hard to use. Other than that, this is a great hotel with lots of facilities in a fantastic location.

  • 3/5 G Z. 5 months ago on Google
The facilities in the room are old, and water will splash outside when the hose is turned on in the washbasin. The lights in the room were dim, and the television looked like it was from the last century. The surrounding transportation is relatively convenient, this area is a tourist area, opposite the hotel has a place to rent motorcycles, as well as a good Indian restaurant.

Fabulous hotel. Staying here for 7 days. Top floor 22 with spectacular views over the city and hills. Friendly staff, particularly Kevin, on concierge. Breakfast was OK. But my room was the best feature.

Very old hotel with outdated facilities like in 20s. Need renovation. Despite of the room space, all the facilities are not meeting the expectation from 4 star hotel. Can be a 4 star hotel in old days. The bed is not comfortable, the blanket is not good.

The Dim Sum is a great experience. It was my first time and everything was delicious. Service was great and the view stunning. I recommend checking the prices for the drinks before ordering, they are quite overpriced tho.

A cozy and tranquil place to be. Wonderful staff who welcome you with a smile and ready to give the necessary assistance. Enough elevators not to keep you waiting for long. The food was sumptuous. I loved the soup made from pork bones. There is a shop for souvenirs.

Like a goast-hotel, nearly empty because of no tourist due to covid-19, normally fully packed with Chinese. Hotel needs some maintaining too old inside.

  • 3/5 Tom A. 1 year ago on Google
Hotel just reopened after COVID and most facilities were closed. Rooms were excellent and staff tried hard to help at all times.spa and main restaurants were still closed during my visit.

Some issues during check in with paperwork , room was kind of outdated, the cleaning workers turned off the air conditioning when we returned to our room. Location was ok within walking distance to old Town, basic breakfast included.

  • 2/5 Stevie L. 4 years ago on Google
The hotel itself is decently nice. However, the rooms are noisy, as in not soundproof. We could hear people above us and beside us all night. Secondly, the housekeeping decided to bang on our door at 9am to clean our room and woke us up...little too early for someone that’s adjusting to a time change. Lastly, we had the buffet for breakfast, the omelette station guy was unfriendly and didn’t want to put more than 2 types of vegetables in my omelette, it was mediocre food in general and when they close at 10:30am servers were rushing us to leave on the dot.

Stayed here a few years ago, was a bit dated then. However, when I checked in this time I was surprised that they had the rooms refurbished. It's very clean, neat and bright. Loved the firm bed but didn't like the soft pillows, I prefer the firmer ones. They have separated the shower from the bathtub. The shower is too small, cramped and hard to move around. Breakfast is very good with a generous spread to choose from. Overall, though it's not luxurious, but it's good value for the budget traveler like me.

  • 3/5 Emma R. 5 years ago on Google
Rooms are spacious but the beds are not soft. Room service is mediocre at best, order using the menu Numbers instead of food names to avoid mix-ups. The shower situation is terrible. Hot water was turned off for an entire day with no notice and when it was turned on, the water pressure was nothing more than a dribble, very disappointed. Staff are polite but English communication can be tricky. The hotel is old but looks nice. The breakfast buffet is only included with a certain room package, otherwise it is 350baht per head and finishes at 10:30.

  • 4/5 Amitava M. 1 year ago on Google
I do not have much complain about the hotel rooms, except that it needs better maintenance, specially of bath fittings. Rooms are large and of vintage style. Breakfast spread was sufficient but I missed choices of yogurts and honey. This is probably one thing I did not like. Just on the opposite side of the street, there is 7-ELEVEN that makes life easier. Avoid money exchange in front of the hotel, there rate is lower compared to many others in the area. There are very bad reports about Tulip massage in Google and so I avoided that. I found Varee Spa is equally bad, could be even worse.

One of our favorite hotel in North. The staff are very friendly and caring. The hotel is located in good location not far from the town. Food was clean, nice and many options to choose. The facilities are in good condition. Great service and exceptional experience ever!

It’s huge old hotel. Nearby to night market. Huge rooms. No tooth brush. As their hotel reception they reopen the hotel on 1st May 2022. Breakfast by buffet. Lot of food Old city is too quite not much tourist around.

  • 3/5 Virginie H. 1 year ago on Google
Not too bad, but not more. Close to night market in CNX, so good location. Don't remember the pool, so probably not worth it. Would rather go to Mae Ping or Meridien

  • 4/5 Dr K. 1 year ago on Google
Cool old hotel with all the old grandeur from back in the day. A little worn around the edges with some of the facilities in the rooms showing their age. But awesome location, very helpful staff, and the view of the mountains from the pool deck at sunset is stunning!

I had stayed with family(6 persons) for 5 nights. I want to appreciate hotel staffs. When we came back to cambodia, we did not bring our family photo at a hotel room. We forgot it. When we arrived in cambodia, we contacted the hotel and asked to find our photo. The staff found it and sent it to cambodia... I was so moved . All my family, specially my old mother, really appreciate for this 👍 kindness. Thanks a lot,Ms.Pakkamol!! We never forget Thailand people's warm ❤! I give 5 stars to the hotel staffs.

The breakfast was great, it had everything we wanted. I also wanted yoghurt for my fruit and it was brought to me every morning with a smile. Staff were very polite. Location couldn't be better. Yes the hotel doesn't look a million dollars but we aren't paying too much and everything worked fine so we'd rather have the facilities we care about. I would stay there again no questions.

all great, the gym & pool, facilities, rooms, service, location - highly recommended!

  • 1/5 Nathan W. 1 year ago on Google
I imagine this hotel was a grand lady once upon a time, but the "lady" is now old and has sadly lost all of her charm and grandeur. The only positive things I can say about this place are 1) it's convenient location one block away from the famous night market in Chiang Mai, and 2) the reasonable room rates. Do not be deceived by the beautiful photos they have posted on their website which gives the impression that this is a beautiful luxury hotel. The carpets are old, dirty, and worn. We often took the stairs because we quickly grew weary waiting for an elevator, and the stairways were dark and a little creepy. The equipment in the fitness center is old and rusted. The beds in our three rooms were SO HARD - impossible to get a comfortable night's sleep. There was dust in the corners, the bathroom hardware needs replacing, and water was leaking out of the shower door every time we used it. Someone with access to a great deal of money needs to invest in this place and COMPLETELY overhaul it. Istrongly encourage you to avoid this place and consider other options. The Marriott-owned Le Meridien across the street is absolutely breathtaking!

  • 3/5 Sammy F. 1 year ago on Google
A 3-star hotel, the rooms are clean and big, the toilet and other facilities are average, but the carpet outside the rooms should be replaced. It's located near a night market.

  • 4/5 Andrew M. 1 year ago on Google
Stayed 4 nights here with my family. Hotel is very large but is showing signs of its age, however I would differently stay here again. Great location, Friendly staff, gym was larger than most hotels you will find and nice swimming pool. Breakfast was good and only missing bacon. Plenty of undercover parking and 4 large elevators reducers the waiting time.. 7/11 directly over the road is a bonus.
