I have mixed feelings about our stay at this hotel. While the reception staff were friendly and extremely helpful, and the location was unbeatable - a stone's throw away from all major attractions - the room conditions were frankly disappointing. The first thing that hits you is the overpowering smell of mold, making it clear that ventilation isn't a priority here. Moreover, the sheets were not just damp but carried a lingering musty smell that didn't make for a comfortable sleep at all.

Warning: The "Executive Suite with pool access" offered by this hotel is neither a suite nor does it have a direct pool access. A suite is per definition a bedroom, a bathroom plus an extra room. Yet what is labelled as an "executive suite" by this hotel is just a simple room with a bathroom. It also has no direct pool access - you need to cross the major walkway of the hotel first to get to the pool. The room we got and the bed in it had also a smell of mould. After I brought this forward to the management I was just told that we could check out if we would not like it. I sent a complaint to the booking site where we had booked this stay. While the hotel itself refused any refund the booking site granted us a refund - though not high enough. When I made this booking I trusted in the high rating of this place but I cannot confirm that this would be justified.

My partner and I just finished staying here for four days and we both agree this is our favorite hotel we have ever stayed at. We loved the hotel so much that we wanted to leave a review. We really liked all of the wood furniture, you can smell the wood and all the detail is very ornately carved in to each wood piece. It’s very beautiful. We got a room with a private balcony which was lovely to sit on in the evenings. They offer a complementary breakfast buffet in the mornings with rotating offerings each day that was pretty tasty. Proximity to everything is excellent. The staff is available 24/7 and they offered 2 complementary waters to the room daily. The pool was so nice to come back to after walking around in the heat and they have a bar near the pool where you can get delicious piña colada’s among other drinks. We found the hotel to be charming and if we come back to chiang mai we will stay here again.

The hotel is decorated in a traditional way which is very beautiful and unique. The staff was super nice and helpful!!. The pool area is very relaxing and quite and the pool was pretty warm when it was cold outside. The rooms are big and everything was super clean. Would recommend, great stay!

Great hotel with friendly staff. Very central with a thai style feel. Simple buffet breakfast provided and drink options for around the pool. Stayed 6 nights and loved our stay. Stayed in the basic room package and the room was huge. Great value for money.

Great hotel. Beautiful and in great location. Close to the city centre and close to the airport. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is okay. Swimming pool is beautiful and warm. The only negative is that rooms face breakfast area so I was awaken at 7am due to noise and couldn't sleep after.

Great service, good food and absolutely beautiful rooms. Loved the wooden finishings and the large bathroom with the jacuzzi. Location is great, easy access to a laundromat within 30 metres; lots of restaurants and very close to the Saturday and Sunday night markets

Northern Thai style hotel. It's woody, warm and relaxing. There is a large jacuzzi bath. It is located in the old city area, but it is a little far from the center, so you can spend a quiet night. There is also a pool in the courtyard. The employees are also smiling and very kind. Parking is a bit confusing behind the hotel. And the road is very narrow so be careful. Breakfast is buffet style.

We loved our four nights at the Pingviman! Impressive from the inside and out! The pool gets great sun and had ample seating. Bathroom floors can be a bit slippery so be careful. Surrounding area is okay, the main action spots are a little further into the old town. Blue Clover across the street was our go-to massage parlor. Definitely worth a visit.

We love this hotel! The location is great. There are 7-11, pharmacy stores, restaurants nearby. The breakfast buffet is good. The public park and a small wat are around the corner. The swimming pool and the gym are also good. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. The architecture of this premise is of Thailand style. Overall, we love this place.

Great location in the SW corner of Old Town. Rooms are very spacious (bathroom maybe too much for my taste). The furniture in Lanna style is lovely and creates the vibe of oriental luxury. The staff was kind and very helpful. The pool is great but very busy with a lot of children which means a lot of noise. Be prepared for mosquitoes or at night you'll be on the losing side. Breakfast is decent for the price, but the hotel restaurant closes way too early (or is not open at all). But what really miffed me is that the fridge and the kettle are placed in the bathroom section of the room which means kinda annoying journeys there and back again. Oh, and the room doors are secured with a padlock - a bit of shock at the beginning, strangely fun in the end.

AMAZING EVERYTHING. Staff, location, room, pool, service, food. Everything was perfect! Would have stayed there forever. Thanks so much! Favorite hotel in whole Thailand.

The look of the hotel is lovely. All the staff are very friendly. The only downsides were the air con in the room didn’t go as cold as I like and there’s frogs living in the koi ponds that don’t stop making noise all night and can be annoying when trying to sleep

  • 5/5 Anna R. 1 year ago on Google
The absolute best hotel I've ever stayed in. Its a glorious traditional building with genuine old world charm. There are giant koi fish in beautiful ponds, croaking frogs as you walk through to the rooms. Every effort has been made with the decor and facilities. Carved bed head, gorgeous bathroom, stained glass doors, beautiful tiles, carved wardrobes etc. Literally so beautiful we didn't want to leave. Staff all excellent, breakfast very good. Its such a beautiful place and so peaceful the only improvement that could be made is to make it adults only, as it seems rather wasted on screaming kids by the pool or at breakfast. But thats not a huge deal, and whatever keeps this hotel going is worth it. Thank you so much Pingviman, what an amazing place!

The room has broken floors and the mosquitoe mesh couldn’t close properly where they are still able to fly in. However, I’ll give one star for the good location and one star for the helpful staffs. Hotel charge the pick up service from airport is a bit more expensive than grab car app.

The hotel is a short distance from the airport and they were able to organise a transfer for us. The hotel itself is in a great location and is absolutely beautiful. The staff are all pleasant and helpful, the rooms were big and clean and the pool is a good size, perfect for relaxing. Breakfast in the morning was good. We stayed twice and would definitely stay again if we revisit Chiang Mai.

Very beautiful hotel, nice rooms, pool. Didnt like: mosquitos in rooms, lobby, everywhere and slow servicebon breakfast I hope manager will change it, poor ladies do not have enough time to serve breakfast and wash the plates as result- no food on table, no plates, forks, cups ready((

A lovely quiet hotel within the walls of the old city.. An oasis with a pool and trees in the centre (sunbeds on northside of pool get sun during the day). Luxury poolside room was spacious a clean. Bed was firm but comfortable. Big TV and all sat channels. Very large Jacuzzi bath. Good location with shops, food and great massage opposite (needed after 30 hours of travelling to get there!). Only issue was pool opening times were 9am to 9pm.. Would have been nice to use before breakfast..so could head off straight after. Checkout at 12 though, so there was time to use facilities. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Amazing hotel, we got to book it with a discount due to low season and we felt like the VIPs of Chiang Mai. The rooms are spacious and luxurious, the breakfast is very good, staff is extremely friendly, happy hour cocktails by the pool are good value for money and overall the decor of the hotel is great! Would definitely come back here.

The room, the bathroom and the furniture are in need of renovation and unfortunately very noisy. Unfortunately, this means you can't find peace and relaxation. But you have a beautiful hotel complex with a pool and pond (koi and frogs) in the inner courtyard. The breakfast has nothing special, normal standard.

A little jewel in a green setting in the heart of Chiang Mai. This hotel is very peaceful and absolutely beautiful. The front entrance is very beautiful and as soon as you arrive in the back garden, you will be amazed. It's not big but really beautiful. The swimming pool is great with a corner bubbles which gives us the illusion to be in a jacuzzi ! And there is also a long pool where we can see some kind of carps of several colors, which gives a really natural aspect to the hotel. The rooms are very spacious and very beautiful. The bathroom also with a really nice surprise, a whirlpool bathtub that allows to make massages. A very great night market every saturday is a few hundred meters away as well as Wat Phra Singh, a very famous temple in Chiang Mai.

Amazing place to stay in the old Town

  • 5/5 David M. 5 years ago on Google
Stayed here for four nights and really enjoyed it. The design/decor has a real sense of place and a welcome absence of bland corporate styling - you actually know you're in Thailand. Reception staff have great English and were very helpful with questions about this 'n' that. The breakfast was good with European, American, and Asian tastes well catered for. The pool area is really lovely, especially at night time - it's open until 9:00PM which is great. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

It was very beautiful and unique. Everything was clean. The food in the restaurant was expensive but verry good, especially the Rice Noodles! The rooms were big and very nice. The location is also central. We booked 3 tours there, everything was great thank you Guisa. The breakfast was also yummy. I would definitely recommend.

Lovely hotel, cold Thai drink refreshments on arrival. Very courteous staff - super friendly. The hotel has a nice area to chilled out next to the clean and welcoming pool. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Beautifully decorated hotel with Thai influence

Hotel rooms are big and has a jacuzzi in the bathroom. Location wise is nice and quiet not near to many tourist spots. There is a constant chorus of frog croaking anytime of the day if it puts some people off. Had a good time to rest and relax.

We stayed here for 4 nights. Breakfast is really bad, we went out to eat (recommend Sunday baker close by). Rooms are ok, nothing special. The staff and location is very good. Also the price for the hotel makes it an affordable choice

Strongly recommended! We stayed there for 3nights & will do again if we go back to Chiang mai. --> Authentic feel for the rooms & lobby --> Shuttle service (just ask in advance) --> Great location inside the old city --> Very nice staff & service --> Parking is scarce but should not be an issue

Everything spot on. Communication was always perfect. The Hotel picked us up at the airport free of charge at the designated time. I believe the manager itself came. Very thoughtful, will small talk but never intrusive. He was escorting a new element on the team so we tried our best also not to compromise the little guy, that btw did excellent all the way.🙏 Hotel was kind enought to organize me a motorbike booking, free of charge. All staff always with a true smile on their face. We live in Thailand for some time now and we do travel frequently, it becomes easy to understand when staff is just giving you the Thai tourist smile people now. These guys were genuine. The hotel is just overwhelming beautiful, true Thai Lanna mixed elegantly with contemporary style. Its in the heart of Chiang Mai, close distance to everything and in fact, one of the most busiest streets. However, rest assured, your rest is guaranteed on the spacious, I might even say luxurious to a certain degree, enchanted Lanna Room. Jacuzzi was working flawlessly as well as all the others amenities included in the room. Excellent wifi deployment, flawless connection. 2 bottles of water are free, everyday if you wish. A Nespresso machine with excellent coffee is at your service in the kitchen up to some late hour I don't recall. For free. Breakfast was surely adequate for the type of hotel, I've paid much more and got much less. Don't get fooled for the humble price, sometimes a price is also a market segmentation tool. You will get from this hotel 6 stars hotel service.

Top notch ,beautiful hotel. Amazing rooms, good service , clean pool. Jacuzzi in the large bathroom is the real deal. Impossible to find this quality at this price. Great location!

  • 3/5 Maddi L. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful looking, but in reality it could be nicer. The room was very damp and smelled very musty and the doors don’t feel super secure to lock, as they can only be properly locked from the outside (with a padlock) and from the inside you can’t lock with a padlock. The bed felt slightly damp the two nights we stayed. Also the safe didn’t work. The pool was beautiful and breakfast was quite fine, but for a hotel that should be “fancy” I would’ve expected it to be in a bit better condition.

  • 5/5 Leondy H. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing staff! very friendly and attentive! Room is spacious, clean and very very unique with a touch of North Thailand finishing! Definitely recommend to come here! Although could be better but its a 9.5/10 stay!

I couldn’t say anything better about this hotel. The rooms were fantastic (loved the luxurious oriental look), the pool was stellar, and the staff went above and beyond to help me. Best of all, I left my passport document holder in the safe of my room when I checked out, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure it was couriered to me and that I received it before I departed from Thailand. Lastly, the hotel is right in the heart of the old city and just a short walk away from the wonderful night markets. Highly recommend this hotel in every way. Thank you so much Pingviman hotel and staff!!! đŸ™đŸœđŸ™đŸœđŸ™đŸœđŸ˜ŠđŸ˜ŠđŸ˜Š

Beautiful architecture, quiet rooms, great wifi, and fresh breakfast offering both Thai and western options. Everyone was incredibly kind and accommodating. Wonderful location in old city.

  • 1/5 ClĂ©mence L. 1 year ago on Google
Room was very damp, and smelled bad. There was a lot of dust and some spider webs. Everything was so humid in the hotel it was the first time of our trip in Thailand (dry season) we had mosquitoes in a room. Everything felt very old, the doors didn’t look safe to close. The safe wasn’t working. We arrived at 4 pm and asked right away if we could use laundry service, because we where coming back from 3 days jungle trekking and had no more clean clothes. The lady at the reception told us they couldn’t as it was too late and we wouldn’t be able to get our clothes back before the next evening. As we had a plane to catch in the morning we decided to wash some things by hand but again because of humidity nothing dried. Breakfast was okay. Heated pool was a good surprise. Overall I think the service and the room were bad for a 4 star hotel, at this price and we would not come back.

Stayed here two nights after staying in Bangkok. It was so relaxing and the hotel is beautiful. There are plenty of things to do around the area. Service is great, too.

  • 5/5 Jason S. 1 year ago on Google
What a great hotel. Oh my. We planned our entire Thailand trip around this hotel. A room became available during a Black Friday sale and we grabbed the 4 days. Then planned everything else around it. We were not disappointed. The grounds are gorgeous. The rooms just fantastic. Had a great time. We used the tour desk inside the hotel and the elephant tour went great. I would recommend them. If there was 1 tiny little thing to nitpick about it would be that there were a number of lights that weren’t working. We stayed in the main building on the 3rd floor. It was very dark getting up there at night as none of the lights work on the stairs. And I noticed the same thing throughout the property. But don’t let a few lightbulbs deter you. It’s one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever stayed at.
