We stopped at Huen Phen Restaurant 2 after a wonderful day exploring Doi Inthanon National Park. The restaurant is cute and we were one of only two tables occupied. The four front staff took turns taking care of us, in between swatting flies with flyswatters throughout the restaurant. We got 3 bowls of Khao soi gai, some omelettes, fried chicken, and some fish. Overall, I rate the Khao soi 3 out of 5, as it was very sweet for my taste. However, my husband really enjoyed his after adding a heavy dose of chilies, saying it was a top contender for all the Khao soi gais that we've tasted on this trip. My kids enjoyed their omelettes, fish, and chicken (my other son found the khao soi too sweet as well). Overall, it was enjoyable and worth the visit - especially since it was a stop on the way to our hotel.

This branch has more parking space in its own area. Local food was delish. Air-con room available.

Visited Huen Phen 2 again. Was one of our favourite Northern Thai restaurant. They have completely demolished the TRADITIONAL Lanna Teak buiding that had so much character and feel and built a slick modern air con sterile "Western" style building. So bad!!!!! The food is still very nice but now, the prices have gone up and the portions have decreased. Sad!

Only thing is that it's not very kid friendly compared to other restaurants in the area (no baby chairs available) and it was difficult to eat with our children. Would have enjoyed the experience and food more if I wasn't concerned with my kids knocking over the food and drinks on the slanted tables throughout the entire meal.

The table beside us complain about the temperature but the staff just smile and don't do anything about it. This is bad for the owner as they are loosing many customers and maybe don't know why.

I have eat here a few times for lunch and dinner due to being close to where I’m staying in Chiang Mai. They do great food I have had the same stir fried dishes and tried the fish ☺️ If you want to eat somewhere nice outside the city centre I highly recommend the food here.
