Carp Cafe. Wow, totally different scene inside from what you see outside. The atmosphere is great. 1,000 of fish swimming around while you relax and enjoy your food. The table is part of the feature with waterfalls into the pond. The food is really good. Well recommended will be back again.

A nice theme and great ideas but no thought for customers. We basically were sat in a building site as workmen around us are welding and concreting repairs etc. pricing and food quality a mismatch I’m afraid, and what Japanese themed restaurant offers no fresh tuna sashimi on the menu - we just got tinned tuna with salad!

I’m so impressed with Carp Café about super fresh products and reasonable price. The quality of ingredients are important for Sushi and Roll so I would like to recommend this amazing cafe for who‘s looking for Japanese food in Chiangmai. Must visit and enjoy your meals!! 🫶🏻👏🏻🫰🏻

What a disappointment. Save your time. I love koi but. My thai partner and I went for lunch, the seafood we ordered was not fresh defrosted and tuna from a tin? For 700B With dirty tables and area, don't expect any form of customer service. Plenty of better date spots or go to an aquarium with a coffee if u wanna see fish🥲

Absolutely real spanish food, all of the five dishes were so yummy and so authentic. We will come back for sure very soon. Delicious paella, better than other paellas we had in Spain. Bread was soooooo wonderful, absolutely homemade, first time I eat real bread in Thailand. Staff are so so nice and friendly, you can see there's a very good atmosphere between workers and they treat customers as you feel at home.

We went for dessert and coffee after lunch. Good selections and surrounding by lots of fishes were another great experience. Decorations, it was fantastic with plenty of photo spots.

The atmosphere is lovely. Our kids enjoyed all the fish. Especially in the bathroom walls! The food was a little pricey but portions were good and it was delicious.

Not sure why people rate this bad. It’s unique and rare to see something like this. Food was ok and quickly served. Price is more expensive than regular but I mean they got a ton of fish to feed so it’s fair prices for the place. Don’t miss this experience!

Amazing beautiful place! But just a tourist place, but also a lot of local people were there and the food was perfect! Love it!

Cute little cafe. A bit of a wait to get in and then a wait to order and for food to come, but it was nice and fish are great to watch and feed while waiting. Very picturesque.

Nice place to visit and take pictures, very instagramable, nice service, toilet is my my favorite part

The whole decor and environment is so different with carp almost everywhere, including the toilets 😀 The only real negative is the prices for the drinks and food, they are quite high, perhaps double what you might pay elsewhere but the fish are amazing.

Definitely a place to come and take your pictures and have a coffee. Maybe the service is really bad and the food is overpriced especially for Thailand.

Such a cool concept honestly, if you don't want to eat/drink you can enter for 100baht. Fish food is either 20 or 40 bath. I did want a drink but the service took forever. I think I waited over 30 minutes for someone to get my order, than another 20 just for one iced tea. It was not busy at all, maybe 2 more tables in total so I'm not sure why the long wait. Workers were super friendly tho.

Such a beautiful experience! Felt immediately transported to Japan. Came for nice lunch with my husband Arrived 11am on Thursday - not busy with just 4 tables already seated. There is lots and lots of seating - the staff greet you and allow you to choose where you would like to sit and on which side of the restaurant. I love that! There’s been too many times I’ve gone to aesthetically cute cafes to be seated in a not so pretty spot than what I saw online. Every spot was beautiful and photo worthy with the fish swimming around you! There are 2 menus and a drink menu; one for sushi/Japanese cuisine and one for Thai/western cuisine. For the area being enclosed and covered it was nice and cool with plenty of fans moving air around. The staff gave us menus once we picked a table and stood off to the side while we browsed. We took a while to decide but they were ready when we were. All the staff were super nice - our waiter didn’t speak English too well but was patient with us vice versa and used translate app to help. Not once did I feel rushed like cafes back at home Once our food was ordered I took a walk around for about 15 mins snapping pictures and visiting the amazing bathroom (women’s only, husband said men bathroom is not special but not sure which men room he went to as I saw 2) All food was decent to good, nothing stood out that we did not like. Also nothing was super delicious we were drooling over. Sushi/Nigiri was good enough to not disappoint especially for the price compared to America. Decent food with aesthetic IG worthy vibes that did not disappoint. I’ve been to some cafes where it’s just too crowded, the decor is underwhelming and it’s too overwhelming with ppl to enjoy - this was not that. By the time we left (2 hours later or 1pm) it hadn’t felt so much time had passed and by that time it was getting busier for lunch. The one thing that didn’t work out was I ordered a mango papaya style salad but our waiter must’ve missed it bc it wasn’t listed on receipt. We ordered 2 pcs each; U12 SALMON SALAD NIGIRI, U11 (tuna) MAGURO SALAD NIGIRI, U04 TUNA SALAD+EBIKO NIGIRI; U24 SALMON ABURI NIGIRI, U33 SALMON TORO NIGIRI, U17 UNAGI NIGIRI, U31 MAGURO (tuna) SPICY SALAD NIGIRI, U30 SALMON SPICY SALAD NIGIRI - as well as udon and two Italian sodas total $40.32/฿1422 - $42.53/฿1500 after tip. Fish food is available for ฿20-40 baht If you don’t wish to eat you can still come to enjoy the fish and scenery for ฿100

Really fun, unique experience. Great café where you sit in giant coi pond. The inside is like being transported to a misty sacred pond deep in the forest. Their matcha and chocolate shake were quite good! Definitely visit the bathroom here for a surprise perk.

Carp Cafe was an incredible experience that I recommend to anyone visiting Chang Mai! While the food was not the best, the atmosphere was absolutely amazing. I definitely recommend buying fish food to feed the fish!

  • 5/5 Shawn L. 11 months ago on Google
You go there for the experience. Very original idea where you sit at a table next to artificial basins filled with hundreds of carps. You can buy a bit of fish food coming in to feed the fish who will come to you no matter where you are sitting. The food is more expensive than the average Thai restaurant in the area, but this is compressive since you do go there for there for the nice atmosphere and experience. Do not miss the opportunity to go see the women's toilet where you can see the carps through a glass wall. Payment can only be done in cash.

I'm glad to provide a positive review for Carp Cafe in Chiang Mai. I visited Carp Cafe recently and had an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment I stepped in, the cozy and welcoming atmosphere caught my attention. The interior was adorned with charming decor that perfectly blended modern aesthetics with traditional Thai elements, creating a unique and delightful ambiance. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the food. The menu offered a diverse range of options, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. I decided to try their signature Carp Fish dish, and it exceeded my expectations. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, showcasing the skillful preparation by the chefs. Additionally, the portion sizes were generous, making it a great value for the price. The staff at Carp Cafe were exceptional, providing attentive and friendly service throughout my meal. They were well-informed about the menu and readily offered recommendations, which helped me make the perfect choice. Their warm demeanor added to the overall pleasant dining experience. I must also commend the cafe for its dedication to sustainability. Carp Cafe's commitment to using locally sourced ingredients and minimizing their environmental impact is truly commendable. It's evident that they prioritize not only the quality of their food but also their responsibility to the community and the planet. As for the coffee selection, I thoroughly enjoyed their range of freshly brewed options. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or simply seeking a comforting cup, Carp Cafe has you covered. In conclusion, Carp Cafe in Chiang Mai is a hidden gem that offers an exceptional dining experience. With its inviting ambiance, delectable food, friendly staff, and commitment to sustainability, it's a must-visit destination for both locals and travelers alike. My visit left me eager to return, and I wholeheartedly recommend Carp Cafe to anyone looking for an unforgettable culinary adventure in Chiang Mai.

Absolutely beautiful place with tropical plants, well fed healthy carps and unexpected details like Marvel, Star Wars and DC miniatures collection or electric trains you can watch. Haven't tried the food as its quite expensive. Tea and coffee was ok, nothing special, they are more expensive than in some cafes in Nimman but served with plastic spoon. I think the higher price is reasonable for maintaining such a nice place and take care of fish but I can't say anything about the food.

Very pleasurable experience at Carp Cafe , prices are little steep, but worth the experience. You can buy fish food for 20 THB to feed fish as they swim around your dunked table. The staff were friendly and attentive ,very politely asked the kids not to touch the fish . We had sushi around 180-280 a plate and spaghetti 270 THB , both were good , little pricey however when paying the bill we got to chose a lucky egg and won 15% discount off our bill which was a lovely surprise

A wonderful and unique experience! We were looking for some place to escape the afternoon heat for a few hours and this was perfect. The booths are embedded in a giant labyrinth koi pond. Tea and cake were delicious and the atmosphere is just wonderful with many beautiful fish that you can feed. Highly recommend.

I guess it’s a fun concept and you can take some nice pictures. The waiters were friendly and helpful. Food is overpriced and mediocre at best. To top it all off we all got sick a few hours later.

The seating here is surrounded by pools full of carp - and they will flow in droves to whomever has the fish food feeder... Otherwise its tree-shrouded and cool as I recall. Food and drinks were high-level Chiang Mai awesome.
