Ban Somtum is my all time favorite somtum (Thai Style Salad) place with fresh and clean ingredients. My all time favorite menus are Luangprabang Somtum and the Signature Fried Chicken. The level of spice for normal spicy is quite spicy. If you don’t like the burning spicy temptation, recommend to go with medium spicy first for an enjoyable level type of spicy. The plates come in small portion so you can definitely order at least 4 dishes for two people. I also ordered Lemon Grass Juice as a beverage and surprisingly it turned out better than I expected because I found it quite unique to be served with lemon grass jelly. If you like Lemon Grass, definitely check this Lemon Grass Juice menu with Jelly out. Price is in the medium range but worth it with the quality that you get. Waiters are so proactive, friendly, and happy to service you. The parking is quite limited. So during busy hours, may be difficult to find parking. The ambient of restaurant is family style and quite spacious. Definitely one of my favorite eating spot. This restaurant has different franchise around the city but not many branches. So try to search for the closest branch near you for convenience.

Incredible place to try lots of local dishes especially som tum. Came here twice for dinner during my trip. The fried glass noodle is also very delicious!

The name translates to “House of Somtum” and this place certainly lives up to that. The menu has one entire page dedicated to variations of Somtum. We ordered the normal one, but also the corn version (both types), and also the one with blue crab. All were good but the one with blue crab was outstanding. The blue crab was raw and marinated, and it tasted very fresh and paired well with the Somtum. Besides the Somtum dishes, the other dishes were also very well executed. We ordered mainly the recommended dishes and they were all above expectations. Another special mention for me is the raw prawn salad, which was simple but the freshness of the prawns stood out. The food was so good that we visited twice in 4 days! Strongly recommend this place to anyone wanting to have Northern Thai food.

One of the best northern-east Thai restaurant in central bangkok. Clean, fast and a few parking spaces available. Recommend Pork Neck, Esan sausage, dessert.

This spot has got on the list of Michelin guide for 4 years in a row. It’s Sunday around 2pm, nice and cool. Parking was easy with helpers, walked in, sat down, servers came right away! We ordered like we didn’t have breakfast. Our food came out quickly one after another. All dishes had several flavors with dipping sauce. Pork neck was nice and juicy. Deep fried minced pork was fun to eat. Steamed sea bass was quite handful! Well, overall, you will realize after the meal of the reasons why they got on the list of Michelin guide! Come and try :)

Great papaya salad, large spaces and plenty of tables for groups. The staff are great and very helpful. If you park on premise they will cover your windshield to keep the heat out! Amazing quality and freshness. Taste is highly customisable and suits most pallets

Very nice restaurant to visit and dine. The ingredients are fresh. Taste is in good moderation, not the typical local extreme screaming level of taste profile. Every dish we ordered is very presentable and tastes good. Fried fish is nice. Crispy fins and skin and moist meat. The Isan sausage is nice and delicious. The atmosphere and decoration in the restaurant is great. A Michelin Star gem too. Overall an enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommended.

I think they make a good taste for Somtam. However, it you carving for the real taste and intense one. This is not the place where you are looking for. I think it quite good for the foreigner who hasnt much spicy tolerance. The place was crowded and busy. They have a lot of menu and doesn't much expensive

Some kind of fusion or targeting tourist taste, not very traditional Thai style. We order with little spicy, the dishes are very suitable for us. You would feel comfortable as it has air-conditioning. Don't expect too much for the food, they are good but not very outstanding.

Superb food quality with reasonable pricing. So many dishes to try so little stomach space. Reservation is highly recommended due to large lunch time crowd.

We had lunch here today and it was pretty good. They have indoor and outdoor dining. Not too expensive. The latte was surprisingly decent. We ordered 4 dishes and finished them all! Probably won’t come back because it’s out of way, we only wondered here by accident today! Not so fantastic for us to purposely come back! Pepper Morris

Absolutely amazing! It's so authentic that almost all guests are local Thai people. The papaya salad is the signature dish- with the right amount of everything, fish sauce and the marinated crab. The deep fried fish is yummy too. They are really talented dipping sauce maker- they have different sauce with different dish as most Thai people do. You must order different dishes to try them out. The coconut ice-cream is a must have item. It has fresh coconut meat and is not too sweet. Trust me, you will love it.

A variety of somtum to choose from… Enjoyed the papaya salad with grilled pork shoulder, grilled chicken, fried shiitake mushrooms. The lemongrass drink was good!

Overall is very good, nice service, but a lil’ bit slow on dinner time (5.30-8.30) Some orders might be missed, need to follow up simultaneously. Food portion is fit for two, but i went there with my family, i think each dishes are too small. Food here tasted salty, and sweet. Love it! Recommend!!!

Good authentic Thai food in a very spacious ambience. The service is good but will be a bit challenging to communicate with staff in English. However, the staff is very helpful. You try Laos somtum and especially the deep fried seabass. Dessert was a little bit of disappointment as I expect to see Thai signature Mango sticky Rice, or Coconut ice cream with sticky rice.

Heavenly tasty dish. The corn and salted egg somtum is super nice. Must try. The somtum is cripsy yet tasty

Great introduction to Esan / Northeastern Thai cuisine. Menu is quite extensive with many interesting choices from traditional salads to grilled viands. Liked their pork neck, sun dried pork and longan juice. They accommodate foreigners’ requests to adjust food’s spice level. Came here during lunchtime and their spacious dining area was packed — got lucky to be seated right away but may be best to come with a reservation.

Highly recommended. I got known this place from my local friend. They have a variety of Somtum or papaya salad with different ingredients and dressings. Some of them contain fermented fish source. Yum! Many more things to try out. We paid less than THB 800 for 3 of us. This place is clean and have nice ambiance.

Good Thai restaurant (North Eastern Thai style), famous for its Somtum or Papaya Spicy Salad. Food is tasty, service is quick. Portion and price is acceptable.

One of my favorite restaurants I went to while visiting Bangkok. Many varieties of sometimes — we tried the Lao pomelo salad— Lao style. One of the best somtums I’ve had. Also great larb! They also have soups, larbs, and fun authentic northern desserts.

  • 4/5 A B. 7 months ago on Google
Looks like michelin awarded place, the somtum is indeed nice and also some larb menu. Nothing beats the authentic som tum in thailand. The corn som tum is a gem, also the grilled chicken. Will come again to try others in the menu

We've visited Baan Somtum a couple of times in January 2023 and we really liked it. Food is great, prices are pretty low, most of the people are locals. Highly recommend!

A really really good place to have Somtam in a clean and properly serviced environment. Clean, taste good, in air cond, service is fine and price quite reasonable. Also on the Michelin recommended lists.

Really good prices and nice staff 😊 you should stop by if you’re ever in the area. The meat was so tender… really delicious! The inside doesn’t look quite special but just step in, you will find a good variety of dishes.

Michelin BIB Gourmand!. Tastes of Isan. Big place. Mindful staff. We will return to try other unique menus. Forgot to take photo of all plates! Parking is quite limited for peak time( we went there for lunch on Saturday).

The food is ok. Not a fan of the fermented fish soup. the tender coconut ice cream is the best dish we had at the restaurant.

One of the best Thai Food resto in Bangkok. All the foods are delicious. Must try if you’re in Bangkok. Try the fried fish and the fried chicken. Their Papaya Salad is superb.

  • 5/5 Tan S. 9 months ago on Google
Every dish is very satisfying! 4 dishes’ portion is decently good enough for 4-5ppl Ask for salted egg to be added into papaya salad with marinated crab. U’ll love the moist egg yolk of salted egg and fresh marinated crab. (Super good) Garlic fried fish and fried petal are very crispy (normal good) Beef coconut milk soup is very creamy and savoury.

SO yummy we came back twice!! Everything here is delicious. But be careful when ordering because the dishes can be quite spicy! The chrysanthemum drink was perfect to pair with this meal.

A long waiting here. Made resercation before massage and returned. Still a long waiting. Followed recommend other peeps and no fail Chicken fries, fish fries, corn ban som tam are ‘must have’ dishes. If time is enough, there is Infinity spa around here, before spa, book here, after spa, enjoy food! What a perfect day!

Love the grilled chicken that was tender, moist with lots of herbs and the tasty sauces. However, som tum and the rest were mediocre. We did not like the thick papaya strand.

  • 4/5 Julius L. 1 year ago on Google
Extensive menu, with plenty of traditional Thai dishes at pretty reasonable prices. Service was lightning fast - we were there ahead of evening rush hour (around 17:30) and they had our order on the table in what seemed like a few minutes. Personal favorites were the wagyu beef and the flattened and fried minced meat balls.

Delicious modern North Eastern Thai (e-sarn) food at a reasonable price. Highly recommend their pomelo somtam, grilled chicken with special pepper (both are surprisingly good twist) and homemade coconut ice cream (just the right sweetness to end the meal). There are many branches across Bangkok. This restaurant is spacious and clean with parking spots
