As busy as anticipated particular in special occasions like new year holidays. Nevertheless, totally worth a visit. Early morning or late afternoon would be the right entry time, if you wished for less crowd.

I found this place a Historical place with the faith of Thai people. I also did one ritual on the first day of the year while other Thai public was doing. Ritual was like, we have to tie a three cloathing of different Colors for luck. Really very happy to do this with my family.

On arrival at the correct time, I was met by dancers and music. A Thai temple dance were underway at that time adding to the atmosphere. Not your traditional temple experience.. but still very much the same. With several people coming to humble themselves in prayer and to give offerings. Four various places where prayers are made and each vastly different from the next. Also within reasonable distance of other points of interest this shrine was worthy of a short visit, especially as no entrance fees were required.

It's where the locals go to pray for great health, prosperity, and happiness in life. My dear friend took me there and explained to me about the tradition that people in Thailand do and the tourists probably doesnt know about. You can get a nice distance view of the grand palace from this temple.

Not nearly as crowded as Wat Pra Kraw across the street and no entrance fee. You will hardly find any tourists here.

I visited the Bangkok City Pillar Shrine in February and was amazed by its historical significance. The intricately designed shrine and beautifully crafted architecture left me in awe. The atmosphere inside was serene and peaceful, providing a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. It was a truly enlightening experience, and I would highly recommend visiting this shrine when in Bangkok.

A very nice highly trafficked site, Buddhist and secular mix. The city pillars are covered. The artwork is the gorgeous Thai style. Dress appropriately. And yes, worth a visit even after you see the other superb tourist sites next door.

It's historically and culturally one of the most significant locations in Bangkok. Because of the importance of the shrine, visitors should dress respectfully and make sure their shoulders and knees are covered. Thai people come here to pray and make wishes so please be respectful. Free entry.

Every one who lives in Bangkok must go there once at least to present your gratitude to the angels who protect the city as Bangkok meaning in Thai is "The City of Angel"

A truly beautiful and significant place in the history of this city, definitely worth a visit. We Europeans probably cannot appreciate the importance of this place enough, but for the Thais it is a very important and highly sacred place.

Beautiful, serene, it was little crowded, because it was Buddha's birthday and it was free. Still serene. There was a traditional performance.

Bangkok City Pillar Shrine is a sacred place that marks the founding of the city. It is believed to house the city spirit deity and bring good luck to visitors. You can admire the beautiful architecture and join the locals in offering flowers and incense

In this land the majority of people believe in the mix of Buddhism and Hinduism. Pillars of the city are also the same every province will have one place for the city's pillar.

Such a beautiful temple, my wife and I were there for about 3 hours, we left offerings and had prayers at the main temple and a shrine towards the rear of the complex by the monk’s residence,

Beautiful place to pray and reflect on your life. This is not a temple (wat), hence the English name “shrine”. There are several pillars and apparently you pray for strength and success.

Nice spot to drop by and pay respect to, if coming around Wat Phrakeaw, Grand Palace, and other temples nearby. A must-visit place to see Thai culture and architecture that are having an interesting story behind. Recommend a visit on weekdays, preferably in the morning. (Crowded on weekend and New Year)

I recommend this place to all those who are looking for a place to pray for the health and happiness of themselves and their loved ones in Bangkok. The Thai people take their prayers very seriously, and I think it would be good to pray together, not as a tourist attraction, but out of respect for Thai culture. I have visited many times with my own wife and we are thankful for the peace and good fortune our family has.

Bangkok city pillar. If you drive, you can park at Sa Nam Luang (across the street). You should come early because parking lots are limited.

No parking slot. The best way to go is using public transportation. It was very crowded when I visit. So, it is hard to keep distancing.

Quite well organized. For tourists, I think it is only worth a visit if you are accompanying this visit with the grand palace tour but not on its own.

The worship place for City Pillar shrine (big hall). There are also other small shrines nearby. When entering the area, the locals typically pick up a tray of worship items and donate 60 bahts ($1.5) ,then pray at the left area andaybe leave the lotus flower there. Then tie the colorful clothes around the model pillar. From then on, walk to the Main hall where the actuall pillar is inside, pray and leave the flower garland inside. From here, we walk over the hall next door to pray ( for good luck), and finally pour 1/2 bottle of the oil in the pot labed for your birthday, then pour the remains amount to other days of the week. The locals believe that giving oil means giving light (wisdom) and spells darkness (trouble, bad luck etc.) from your life.
