The staff was really great, friendly & helpful. I arrived early morning in Bangkok but on request they managed to check-in me into the hostel around 5:30 am. Many attractions are in walking distance from the hostel. All in all.....I liked my stay there

If you're into reading and coffee and wood paneling this is the spot for you. There is no big open gathering/socializing place. There are little corners, tight squeezes and cozy seats. If that's what you're in the market for, Niras is perfect for you. It was for me. I stayed here almost a year ago now but Niras Bankoc Cultural Hostel is a fantastic place. It's quiet and pretty, located just far enough out of the way that you feel separated from the madness of the city proper but close enough to access it without much trouble. The staff was incredibly kind and responsive. Kathrine specifically, if she's still working there, was attentive and friendly. She recommended places to see, eat and even a cool tattoo shop. Thanks Katherine, Stay in touch

So let me start of by saying the staff is really friendly and the cafe and hotel are beautiful. The location as well is actually quite nice albeit a bit loud. What makes me give this place such a low rating are mostly the showers and the cleanliness. The showers are either boiling hot or cold. No in between. When we brought this to the attention of the staff they tried to help us by moving us to another room, which after the first shower, had the exact same problem. I'm guessing the entire building has some plumbing issues. So for 4 days we had to take cold showers and were offered no solution or compensation. Moreso we were made to feel as if it was us who did not know how to use a thermostatic faucet 🙄. Looking at previous reviews this problem has existed for some time and was never fixed. Regarding the cleanliness, everything looked clean (apart from the towel which had stains) but when we were changing rooms i checked under the bed and was shocked to see a dead roach as well as a previous guest's underwear under the bed in room 33. I also saw a roach running around in the income hall. But that i can understand. I can't understand why you would not clean under a bed though. Overall very dissapointing experience, we wish we had booked somewhere else. We did not stay in the dormrooms but in the private rooms which are situated in a different building. I can not speak about the dorms.

Excellent place and in Old Town, which is near a lot of the tourist spots (like The Grand Palace). Plenty of good street food directly across and on the same street. The hostel dorms themselves are spacious and AC-equipped, but it could have been nicer if there were privacy curtains. WiFi works in the room as well as the lobby attached to the cafe (btw the cafe food is overpriced, I recommend eating out). The lobby area is also open at night, so you can work there if needed. The staff also made the bed every day! The staff was very friendly. 10/10

I like the rooms and the interior. Everything is nice designed. What I didn't like as solo traveller, there is not really a common room and so you don't meet other people. The other thing I didn't like was the super noisy street in combination with the thin windows. So even when the hostel is really quiet the street is certaintly not.

Probably the nicest Hostel I have ever stayed in. Beautiful interior, clean, and well equipped whereever you go. Soap in the shower, good towels, power outlets where you need them. And the price was very good too. Would always come back. Communication was also exceptional.

Fabulous space to sleep and store leg gage while exploring the city and surrounding area. The rooms have dark shades, individual lights and outlets on bunks, and clean bathrooms. Their coffee shop is delicious and a welcome respite from the heat. I would stay again.

This is the second time I’ve stayed at Niras. It is the only place I want to stay when I am in Bangkok. I stayed both in their private rooms, and also in the shared room. The staff is incredible. They make me feel right at home. I really love them. They remember me when I come back and welcome you with open arms. That means so much to me. The space is beautiful. It is kept very clean. This is very important to me because I freak out if something is not clean. Also, their food is good. Thank you to everyone at Niras! I hope to see you soon! Another helpful tip. Stop by and see my friend who serves fresh fruit smoothies. When you’re looking at Niras, she is on the right side nearest 7-Eleven. Tell her Tara says hello. ❤️

Lovely welcoming staff! We stayed in a private room with nice bathroom and good AC. The private rooms are just over the road (but bonus was it was right next to Jay Fai - we didn’t queue to eat at the Michelin star street food joint, but it was a fun welcome to Bangkok to see her in action!) Also nice coffee bar attached to the hostel ☕️

Double private rooms are not in the same building with the lobby and manned reception. It's actually over the road, down a little alley. Room felt rusty, not as eclectic and charming as photos. Shower and air conditioning were awful. Room wasn't cleaned despite staying 2 nights and leaving sign outside. Also had an awkward experience where reception staff were against showing us the room after we learnt it was in a different builidng. Not impressed.

The rooms and the AC can improve. Especially with the lighting. The crowd, in my personal experience, can vary depending on your luck. But the location, the food and the people at the reception were all Bang on. It's also quite near to the main attractions of the city. Highly recommended.

Great place to stay: good price for private en-suite room, very clean. Personnel was super friendly and very knowledgeable/ helpful. Charming location as well. Of course there were the typical city noises in the room but this is challenging to avoid unless you go for upperclass hotels.

Sad, as the location is perfect but the staff is not helpful and only cares about your money. After staying over half a year in hostels and hotels in Thailand I have never experienced that before! Even if there are community areas available there is no social interaction at all in the hostel. Instead of the private rooms you can find way better solution for a similar price. Not recommended to stay at this place…

Rooms are great, design is stylish and everything is clean. Location is perfect as well as it's close to the palace, river and other markets and café's. Service is great as well, only issue we encountered was that they messed our food order up slightly, but this was quickly resolved.

Really great experience. Very kind and helpful staff. The location couldn’t have been better! The restaurants right across the street are some of the very best!! Walked to a lot of attractions. The hostel itself is beautiful, well decorated and very very comfortable. The air conditioning worked very well <3 bathrooms were spotless and fully functioning! No curtains on bed but big lockers! Four options for breakfast and it was delicious and filling!

Lovely hostel in a great location. Room was clean and spacious, decent sized bathroom and a nice rec area downstairs. Breakfast is provided, even if a bit basic. The coffee is great (I’d recommend trying the mocha). Total price for 3 nights was ~£90.00 - great value, would recommend :).

Fantastic hostel with friendly staff. There is yummy free breakfast and is right next to a night street food area. It is also a few minutes walk from a famous Pad Thai restaurant (get take out to skip the line). The rooms have comfy beds and each bed has a charging/light station. They make your bed and sometimes give you a new towel during your stay. There are lockers (lock provided) in the rooms as well.

Highly recommended. Beautiful and charming hostel, quiet and very well located. Great food right around the corner, including Jay Fai and Tipsamai. Clean towels every day. Incredibly kind and helpful staff. Simple but fresh breakfast. Nice tour deals.

We had amazing time at Niras, location is amazing, many places on our bucket list were walking distance. Staff was super friendly helped us with every question we had. Place was clean and very comfortable. Only inconvinience was no window in the room, but we knew about it beforehand so it was all good. I highly recomend the street restaurant right oposite of the hostel. Their Tom Yum and Mango Sticky Rice are truly amazing. It was surprisingly way better food than we had in many hyped Michelin guide restaurants.

Lovely place to rest. Close to street food shops and inside city. Management is very helpful. Place to keep your luggage if you are just a short stop for food.

This hostel was beautiful. I stayed in one of the female dorms. Met a friend there I have now been travelling with for a month. The people were beyond helpful! And breakfast and coffee were great! Highly recommend this place

Nice and clean hostel with a cozy atmosphere. We staid in the mixed dorm room for two nights. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Unique is the welcoming smell in the lobby - it feels like entering a french bakery

Amazing value. The staff were friendly. Rooms were clean. Towel service and breakfast included. Plenty of showers. Delicious street food just across the street. Cafe Peyton (coffee shop in the hostel lobby) is a delight!

Rooms spacious. Lockers big. The hospitality here is the best I've experienced at any of my hostels! Would stay here again!

The staff here are so sweet. This is the only hostel in Bangkok that I stayed in that warns people about the tourist scams. Whilst reading their leaflet I realised I had fallen for a scam. I called the Thai tourist police to report it. The next day I had to meet the police at the fake ‘tourist office’ and I was really shaken and worried and the guy from the hostel reception came with me and paid for the taxi (as my credit card had been blocked) and helped translate whilst speaking to the police. Couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you so much x x x

Just amazing. The decor is awesome, every corner of the hostel has something interesting to look at. The staff are so friendly and helpful. It has a cute cafe below. Will definitely recommend this place to friends.

Niras was such a cute, comfortable place! It's right beside Jay Fai's restaurant so we got to see her cooking each night & even got to eat there! The hostel has a quaint cafe across the street from it (where you go to get your room key & pay any dues) that had great food & coffee! The staff was so kind & helpful. We were able to get our laundry done in a timely manner here. The rooms are nice, there is a bit of noise just due to how busy that street is but just bring some earplugs. We didnt have any problems with the noise after that. Overall, such a great place!

I loved almost everything about this hostel! The rooms were nice, everything was super clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There was a common room with computers and a TV so we could use the internet or watch a movie, which was nice. Breakfast was included which was really convenient, too. I only gave 4 stars because the showers didn't have hot water and they were renovating the top floor when we were there. It was super loud during the day. Other than that, I would highly recommend!

Stayed here 5 nights. Great central location and value for money. Team is very welcoming and helpful throughout the stay, always quick to reply and support. And the decorations and ambiance of old wood is lovely.

😠 Your breakfast becomes Lunch. One hour waiting at least, asked them once if my food is coming didn't even reply, and one thai customer told me that they were waiting for 1h30 min. The food tastes horrible and greasy. The only good thing there is probably the coffee which is a 20 min wait as well.

👍👍 I see some people complain over the prices. I don't get that, it's a coffee shop right at the river with a spectacular view and and latte is just 105 THB. Just compare that to Starbucks or even Black Canyon etc and you get much more for the price here. I been here twice and cakes are nice too, tried...
