Can't beat the smell of smoked meat at breakfast! Brisket skillet - so good. Simple atmosphere, friendly people, fantastic food. Great little place in downtown Barrington. Love this place!

If you’re a fan of the good ole diner feel then get to canteen as soon as possible. They have all the diner classics that you love but they throw in an exquisite barbecue twist. I opted for the Diablo pulled pork skillet and it was some of the best barbecue sauce I’ve ever tasted. (Diablo is a bit misleading. It was very tangy with a little kick at the end) Everything you get, you’ll enjoy. It’s a small place where it feels like everyone is a regular. You’ll love it.

This is a perfect spot for breakfast. Located in downtown Barrington, Canteen restaurant is the place to go for delicious briskets all day long. The food and service here is a 10/10. We tried the avocado toast with brisket & the smoked brisket with eggs. The brisket was absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked and I loved the smoky flavor. The Greek frappe iced coffee that was recommended by the host was amazing. I could have had two of those. The wait staff is so friendly and the restaurant has such good vibes. We were there for 2+hours and the staff checked on us often. I need to go back there asap and try other things on their menu

We been coming here for breakfast past few years, the brisket hash & eggs dish was dry & cold. My dish French toast was too thick but d grilled ham w melted Brie & honey Dijon sauce made it very tasty. We’ll have to come back to try their new menu for lunch bbq pulled pork or brisket sounds delicious 😋

Giving this place a 5 star because of the service and the food that was recommended to me. The place is ok inside, I like the little decor but it was kind of cold in there. I would go back and try something else for sure.

Finally had the chance to visit this cute little spot again after literal YEARS of passing it. I forgot how much the atmosphere is so inviting! Such a cute, old school diner feel. You can tell it is family run and they take pride in their food. I will say that the dish I got had way too much of that diablo sauce they serve and it wasn't the best BBQ I've had, BUT it may have been the dish itself. They have a fantastic menu and I look forward to trying their other dishes! Check them out! It's worth it!

I have always wanted to try this place. So glad we did. Food was delicious! Friendly service and food came out very quick! Super impressed. Not afraid to overload on the whipped cream! I can’t wait to go back for lunch! Menu was mouth watering! Bring cash! They only take cash!

After passing this little restaurant many times over the years we decided to give it a try. My spouse had a smoked pork Benedict and said it was delicious. I tried eggs and burnt pork ends. They were good but over 1/2 the order was fat. Service was very good , even though the waitress forgot to bring my coffee. I thought their prices were higher than expected, the cost for the 2 of us was 40 dollars without drinks.

The best brisket you will ever taste in Illinois. Their pulled pork is still my favorite. But the staff are always attentive and friendly and if you come in on the regular this place becomes your Cheers of BBQ.

I will be dreaming about their brisket. Absolutely delicious. This is our new favorite spot. They’re sauces are to die for. As for the atmosphere ❤️❤️❤️❤️. The owner is a sweetheart. Such an awesome person. Staff is absolutely great. I highly recommend this place. I will be there at least once a week.

I wish I could give it 6 stars! After years of driving by, the wife and I decided to give it a try. It was SO good! Great staff, cozy/homey atmosphere, super clean, and INCREDIBLE food! Everyone at the table really enjoyed their food. I had the burnt ends sandwich, and it was honestly one of the best things I have EVER eaten! I would include a picture, but I didn't want to put it down to snap a shot! Lol

By far the best barbecue/breakfast place I’ve ever been to. The food is delicious and the portions size is a lot. I highly recommend the brisket melt, tacos, French toasts, and the Diablo skillet. Everything I have tried has not disappointed. Staff is really nice and they are quick with service! Will always be my top choice for brunch ❤️

Went to breakfast here twice, first was a brisket hash, next was a cheeseburger. Both trips had me filled up and smiling. Basic diner setup but with much better food than your usual "greasy spoon"! Highly recommend if you're in the area.
