Not as beautiful as the Kasimiye medresesi but almost at the highest point of Mardin these days (as the castle is military zone now), it still provides impressive views over Mardin and Mesopotamia and during sunset offers nice photo opportunities. Beware these kind of sites tend to close early, often round 4pm.

An early school for astronomy. The building is beautiful but when you reach the roof top the views over Mardin are incredible. A very worthwhile visit.

An impressive place built in year 636, to be an old astronomy school. The roof has a magnificent view over the Mesopotamian area.

From top of the mosque opens a beautiful skyline. If the weather is clear enough you can see Syrian borders. Open from 8am to 6:30pm. Ticket costs 5TL.

Very spectacular place with amazing panoramic views of the entire city. We went there on a weekend at sunset and the golden hour made everything even more beautiful. However, there were around 6-7 brides doing photoshoots before their wedding. So if you want to avoid getting bothered by photographers asking you every minute to move away from their angle, you should consider visiting this place during the week. Also, women should wear pants. If not, they give one at the entrance. So that’s cool too.

Breathtaking place! If you are in Mardin then you must visit! Entrance is 5TL and it is beyond worth it - definitely they should raise the price.

Fascinating ancient madrasa with beautiful terrace and mosque inside. Open from 8am to 6:30pm. Tickets are just 5 or 10TL.

An old "university" building that's built on a hill that sees the whole Mardin town center. Very nice atmosphere.

Pricewise and if you are in good condition a nice place to sniff the culture and history. Also a very nice overview over the whole area.

WHY DO TOURISTS END UP IN MARDIN 🤷🏻‍♂️? Fortress is closed. The path to it is badly marked anyway,if not at all. Captions throughout town are lacking. Tourist traps, instead, are plentiful. Mosques are somewhat banal. Whole "ancient" Mardin is banal. The average architecture, mingling Ottomans and Arab features, pretty dull. No Silk-Road vibes here, nor the vibes of a trading bazar like in Iran.

Ideally located in the city center near the market. Parking can be a challenge. Need to climb stairs.

It is one of the highest sites of Mardin. So when you go up, you can see down the Mardin whole city. You can visit the Mosque for free but the medrese entrance fee is 5TL.

A marvellous Artuklu era architecture. Stonework is outstanding. Rooftop Mesopothamia view is amazingly beautiful.

Even for Mardin's standards extraordinary. It bolsters with glorious roof top view and intriquing inner part.
