Everything is flawless, the chef, the food, the presentation art of food, the taste, the waiter. The half portion dish is just the most outstanding part, it allows you to try almost everything from snacks to dessert. We are so grateful that we found this place, it made our last night in France perfect ending. ❤️

Everything I look for in a restaurant...not pretentious, good music (but soft enough to not overpower), great food, and great service. I was dining on my own, and they let me order half portions of most dishes so I could try more items. Whereas other restaurants in Beaune sit solo diners at the worst table near the kitchen door, La Lune was welcoming and sat me at the chef's table (so you're not staring at couples on a romantic night out). The format also allows for you to order as you go, so you are not pressured into committing to every course. Merci for a lovely dinner!

I’m in love. This place is AMAZING!!! Best place to dine in Beaune. Every dish we ordered had incredible flavors and the service was spot on! Everything was prepared in front of you, so you get to experience the magic. And it was truly a magical and transformative experience. The Chef clearly cares about how he makes and presents every dish. It was a wonderful evening and an exceptional dining experience! La Lune goes on our list of favorite places to dine in Beaune! Merci, Chef!!

Top notch French-Japanese fusion food. Chef was a one-man show; amazing that he could whip up multiple orders at a go with a restaurant completely full of diners. The communal styled fares were a break from the usual 3 or 4 course French cuisine. Chef played well with the Asian vegetables (lotus roots etc) and sauce (miso, yuzu), with fresh produce from the region. We had the edamame, fried pork katsu with a great cheese pull, chicken kaarage, scallops, pigeon meat, grilled sea bream and all the desserts available on the menu. Left with our belly and hearts full. This is a must have for all travellers passing through Beaune! Rated top of my French restaurant list this far. I’ll definitely return when I’m in France the next time around. 5 stars without a doubt.

We just had an excellent meal there. The food was delicious and prepared right under our noses. Seeing a dish from raw materials to a scrumptious piece of art was like watching a magician at work. We especially loved the turbot and pigeon. Reserve well ahead!

I'm usually not an Asian fusion person, but this restaurant exceeded my expectation. I came here twice over a period of 4 years and couldn't believe that the quality was as good as I remembered. Both times were recommended by the locals, too. Service is always friendly and thoughtful. There is only one Japanese chef but all dishes come out at the perfect time and tasted fresh. The place is very cozy and popular so I'd highly recommend a reservation!

Went for a glass after dinner. Cheese plate was good, vibe was good, but the Somm brought us a glass (bottle in pic 3) after we ordered the premier cru in pic 1, assuming we don’t know much about wine. When asked to change to what we ordered, he explained he ‘changed his mind because he thinks this one he brought us is more drinkable and the premier cru we ordered is not open’. Leaving a one star review as I believe honesty is the grounding principle for doing any business.

I always look forward to having dinner in La Lune on our way to the South or back up north. Late opening and serving hours are just a cherry on top of the delicious food and absolutely professional service. The place is tiny, you sit at the bar overlooking the chef at work - it is quite a show to watch! The marriage/fusion of French and Japanese cuisine is as surprising as it is subtle and delicious. We're very lucky to have discovered this restaurant almost four years ago. It definitely deserves a place in Michelin guide.

OK I will say what everyone else below has said, this place is amazing. We made a reservation early enough to sit at the corner of the Chef's table. And you do need to reserve well in advance although we did see walk-ins at 10-11PM. Having lived in Paris, NYC, Tokyo and Brussels we are used to great food. La Lune was as good as we have had anywhere for creativity, presentation and of course taste. Just fantastic. This is a two man show but it never misses a beat. My only complaint, which was totally my fault, is that I did not order the pork chop early enough which was prepared with the skill of a surgeon and looked terrific! A wonderful experience from start to finish.

The served food is great, delicious; just fantastic. The service is also wonderful. If you don’t want to wait: Reserve in advance.

This is a lovely but small restaurant, we booked seats one month ahead and we all liked it a lot, we ordered almost all dishes that evening but all the food was so tasty and unforgettable. The Burgundy white wine we drank was also a great suggestion by the waiter. It is definitely a must try restaurant if you plan to be in the area.

Hands down one of the best restaurants we have ever been to. It is a very small space with only one server and the chef, no other staff around. This makes for a very intimate experience. Excellent wine and absolutely delicious food. We had several different dishes all of which were amazing. We'd go here any time again.

10.2022 Same Chef Saichi and manager Julien. Some new dishes prepared same care by busy chef san. Fresh vegs. Wider wine selection too. Thanks for the impromptu FR! 2017 Japanese and French quality cuisine. Open kitchen. Value

Be sure to experience this amazing small jewel where the food and wine are exceptional. What made the evening extra special was watching two masters at work who are both talented and so kind!

The reviews don't lie. This place is amazing and not to be missed, if you can get a reservation. Sitting at the counter is like watching a production where the main character is food. They are flexible with customers, offering portions in reduced sizes. If you want to try everything (like I did) this is a gift! The chef is originally from Japan, but has studied French cuisine for fifteen (if I'm remembering correctly) years. We ate at a local traditional French place in Beaune the night before we went to La Lune. The contrast between the two spots made it clear that La Lune is the direction French cuisine needs to take in order to retain its spot on the world gastronomical stage.

One of, if not the best meal during our time in France. Amazing service and food. We took advantage of the half portion option to taste more of the items on the menu. The Menchi Katsu was sublime, I wanted to take a dozen home for later. Watching the chef prepare each item as Julien was a one-man wonder taking orders, turning over dishware, testing each wine, and helping to prep each meal item. Bravo!
