Dear Fellow Travelers, I feel compelled to share my recent, utterly appalling experience at the La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Richmond South, in the hopes of sparing anyone considering this establishment for their accommodation needs. My stay at this particular hotel for six days was nothing short of a nightmare, and I believe it is my civic duty to issue a stern warning. To begin with, the room I was assigned to was not merely unclean – it was downright filthy. The air conditioning unit was more decorative than functional, failing to provide any respite from the stifling heat. Nightstands and the floor hold residue from the drinks of former guests. It is disheartening to imagine the level of disregard for basic cleanliness that allows such unsightly stains to persist. The bathroom, which should be a sanctuary of cleanliness, was a horror show. Seven unspeakable pubic hairs adorned the back of the bathroom door, a grotesque testament to the apparent lack of basic hygiene standards. As if that weren't enough, the shower seemed to have never experienced the touch of cleaning supplies. It was not only dirty upon my arrival but remained so throughout my entire stay. The lack of sanitation in a space designed for personal cleanliness is simply inexcusable. Moving beyond the room itself, the hotel's elevator was a hazard in itself. The doors barely opened, creating a claustrophobic and potentially dangerous environment. The floor selector switch, rather than being professionally maintained, was held together with tape – a glaring indication of the utter neglect this establishment exhibits toward guest safety. The hallways were not much better, featuring residue stains on the floor and walls. In summary, my stay at La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Richmond South was a deplorable experience, marred by uncleanliness, dysfunctional facilities, and an overall lack of commitment to providing a safe and comfortable environment for guests. I implore anyone considering this establishment to reconsider and explore alternative options that prioritize the basic standards of hospitality.

Place was fine for a shorter stay, but don't expect much. Something is off about this place—it looks like it's unfinished. Our room seemed to be "cleaned", but not actually clean. Shower had dirt. Mirror was dirty. Sink looked dirty, and we were even lucky enough to have had what looked like blood on the sheet of the fold-out couch. The continental breakfast is a plus, but my kids refused it. I didn't understand why until I tasted it... That's when we packed and went to the nearest Waffle House. If I had to stay again, I might, but I'd definitely lower my expectations.

I gave this place a try after the mixed reviews. It's good for the price point. Friendly staff and a well stocked breakfast. Waffles, eggs, sausage, yogurt and more. Hotel room and bathroom was clean, lobby was clean. Wifi worked. (15mbps down, 11 up) It's a smoke free hotel. The sink does spray fast, but that a poor faucet design. Perfect for my two dogs as you can walk down Pam drive and there is no traffic. I would stay again.

I stayed at this hotel because the first couple comments said it was clean and a great stay. Those are the employees, for sure. There was hair and debris on the floor, the bed, the bathroom. The only reason I stayed was because I had my own blankets to put on the bed. Edit: The GM emailed me and asked why I stayed the whole time if I had these problems. Mind you, I was spending a good amount of money for just 3 nights, I wasn't about to lose it. I asked him why he had maids in the halls the whole time but still dirty rooms.

Bathrooms looked like they were recently remodeled but they painted the Bathtubs with Regular paint or something. The paint was peeling off and the Tubs were Nasty. Because of the peeling paint they didn’t clean them at all. The Hot Food for Breakfast was Cold and I got there on The 2nd Day of My Stay within 15 minutes of it Starting. Worst La Quinta I have ever stayed in. I will not Stay there again. There is Nothing close to this location. No Restaurant’s at all excerpt McDonalds and Burger King

To be honest the rooms had an odor to them. They didn't seem very clean your shoes would stick to the floor. Spell a little water on the floor wipe it up with the towel and it was black. Does have a great breakfast though.

We stayed here for a night to have a break from driving to our final destination and I was disappointed. The staff were very friendly and kind, but the room was not great. The floor was coated in something sticky and slippery that left a film on your feet. You could see where someone wiped down the headboard, but didn’t fully clean it. The curtains where ripped down the middle. The shower was old with flaking off paint and there was graffiti in the bathroom too. The mattress was hard and all the springs could be felt.

This hotel is located right near some of the factories in Richmond and sometimes you could smell the factories from the hotel. Our bathroom floor was covered in hair upon arrival and our bedsheets were FULL of dirt and hair that looked like it was tucked at the end of the bed under the top sheet. The internet would disconnect randomly and for my phone provider it wasn’t a great area to use data. However all of the staff were very friendly and accommodating

The first room I got had little black flies in the restroom and the ac was really loud. They did help by moving us to another room. They do not have a pool, contrary to the information we saw. We were very disappointed. Also, their dryer was broken so we were not able to do laundry there. It isn't in a nice neighborhood. Might want to look 10 minutes away closer to Richmond. It is a small hotel, only 3 floors. But every time we asked for towels, they could only give us a couple. I guess they couldn't keep up with the laundry. Breakfast was pretty good though.

The customer service was excellent. The man working the front desk when we checked in was wonderful. When we got to our room, we found water all over the bathroom floor, so I called the front desk. He apologized and immediately came upstairs with our new room keys. Our new room was great. The only suggestion I have is that there need to be grab bars for safety installed in every shower.

STAY AWAY . Room smelt like musty mold floors were sticky bathroom looked as if it was not cleaned in between guests. Immediately requested another room was told that was the last room available so we left. Now very unprofessional manager is refusing to give a refund for a room we didn’t stay in. Wish there was an option for 0 stars.

The room smelled horrible and there were holes in the wall. The shower was very rusted. The king mattress was very old and worn out. The sofa bed was badly stained and thin. I wouldn't stay here again if I was paid. One star for the room because zero isn't an option. The employee did as I asked but gets 2 stars because he only brought a sheet and blanket no pillow or fitted sheet for the sofa bed. 3 stars for location because I didn't pay enough attention to the location to really rate it one way or the other. Oh and we had two rooms they both were really bad.

We checked into this hotel this past weekend. The hotel appeared to be a nice place however, once we went into a room it smelled of smoke. When I went to the front desk to explain and see if they could switch out the room. The front desk person instead told me that she can give me a bottle of febreze. So their solution to fixing the issue with the smell in the room was to give the guest a bottle of febreze. I would never stay at this location again and cannot recommend them to anyone. We eventually checked out of the hotel and found a much better location.

The front entrance to the hotel looks more like a side entrance. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The room...can't say it was the best. We had a king room, the desk chair was dirty and needed repair. The bed was comfortable. The decor could use some help. It looks like there have been some renovations done, one going the removal of what I believe was the coffee nook. That was too bad as it meant the coffee etc was now on the desk. The door into the hotel room...not sure how it passed the fire code as there is an obvious gap all around the door. There seemed to be a lot of noise throughout the night...like a piece if sheet metal being shook. I love that there are no carpets in the room although that also means you hear people walking a lot more. Breakfast was fine.

The lobby was clean and neatly decorated. Front desk staff was polite. When we got to our room, that is where disappointment sat in. The bathroom was horrible. Looks like someone tried to update it but the shower and tub were nasty looking. It just needs to be gutted and replaced. The beds were loud and uncomfortable, anytime you moved you heard springs popping. The pillows were abnormally small and very flat. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything in rooms beside you or hallway. I’d never stay here again. We cancelled our returned stay for when our flight came in and chose the Hyatt. Wish I would have just spent the extra money the first time.

Very convenient to interstate, rooms are clean, bathroom amenities are Dove which was unexpected. The breakfast was the biggest surprise. Eggs, bacon, waffles and a nice selection of breads. Rooms are a little dated. We had an old television but I saw boxes of newer tvs downstairs. I’ll definitely come back when traveling thru the area.

Nice little hotel with friendly staff and decent prices. Because they were sold out on Friday night and I needed one more day, the price was jacked up sixty bucks, so that kind of sucked, but my own fault for not locking in a price. Clean rooms and free breakfast, which was decent, but honestly not many options. Cat fee for a maximum of two nights and then base rate after that, which I still find absurd. I get a cleaning fee, but anything past that is ridiculous and I rarely stay at hotels with that fee. Won't come back because of that.

Doors are accessible and open 24/7 which is a great concern for safety. Front desk staff are not always at the desk. At night, they are no where to be found so literally anyone could walk in and around the building. Rooms a filthy. The floor in the bedroom were so sticky. There was hair and filth in freezer. Workout area is very outdated and not cared for. The pedal on the bike is missing straps and the belt on the treadmill stalls multiple times while you’re on the machine so someone could fall!

Perfectly nice budget hotel south of Richmond. Room was clean and the beds were comfortable. You can tell it is an older building, but they've renovated to a pleasant standard. Lobby and breakfast area are contemporary. I was not traveling with a pet, but i appreciate that La Quinta is pet friendly.

This was THE worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Filthy dirty. Bathroom was so disgusting neither of us showered in the morning. Couldn’t get out of this dump fast enough. Hallway carpeting was soiled and had multiple bleach stains. Walls were paper thin and it was very noisy- made it impossible to sleep. HVAC was loud and either blew super hot or cold. Even the lamps looked like they had some gross substance splashed on them. We brought our dogs bed in from the car so he wouldn’t have to sleep on the filthy floor. We will never stay at a LaQuinta again. Unfortunately there is no way to leave a zero as a rating, but this gross dump definitely deserves that.

Wonderful, clean. Love the breakfast provided. Suggestions: Bigger garbage cans in the rooms and more bars, hooks to hang things. Toiletries ect. Dog friendly is such a positive. Thank you.👍💯

Actually wasn't so bad. Needed a place to crash for a wedding. Our room was super spacious and everything seemed clean. Shower pressure was great. Only complaint I had was that there needed to be more towels. Morning breakfast was really nice. Overall it was a great experience.

We checked in late with our cat, and everything went smoothly. Rates are slightly cheaper than we found in nearby locations, especially because there's no pet fee. The room was clean, but smelled VERY strongly of cleaning products. The windows had no screens so with the cat we couldn't open a window to air it out. That would be my only complaint

The staff was super helpful in getting our AC running, which we couldn't figure out at first. The wall decor is really neat and shows off the city of Richmond VA. Plus, when you walk in, you can see this awesome balcony on the second floor, and the wooden railings make the place have a cool vintage vibe. The parking lot can be a bit of a hassle when it's crowded, but there are tons of restaurants in the area that do DoorDash delivery, so that's a plus. We enjoyed a complimentary breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, bakery items, cereal, coffee, and other drinks in the public eating room. It was a nice way to start the day. The only downside was the shower water pressure - it took forever for the hot water to come on.

Place was very clean. Only issue was, there was hair on our shower wall of which was NOT ours. Otherwise great hotel with great breakfast and polite and friendly staff.

Super flexible check in- we got in around 2am ! We booked bc it said pet friendly and they were very welcoming of our well behaved large dog :) Lots of areas outside for him to walk and do business , bags and trash right outside the hotel :) Super comfy sleep too :) There was a flea market or something ACC Ross the street, it made for a nice morning walk. Breakfast was the classic hotel stuff - eggs, sausage, cereal, coffee/tea, oatmeal and fruit

Good service, nice staff, but no pool. Mainly for the business people, they do have a gym, and continental breakfast which is good, and the place is clean. Fyi, the showers in the room have big step-ups, not recommended for people who have balance and mobility issues.

I booked this place after reviews on my original place updated to say bed bugs. Reviews for LA Quinta were mixed. It's a great deal. Room was clean. Service great. The breakfast was was better than expected. My son loved making a Belgian waffle. There was eggs, sausage, toast/bagels and cereal too. Doggy bags and trash available. There was a faint musty odor but that was the only negative

😠 If you like old dirty smelly things this is your place! Room smelled like weed/mold/smelly feet! Mattress was literally from the 1980’s.
