If I had an option to give a separate rating for the heritage wing of the hotel, which was built by a king of Nepal, I would have given it a 5 star rating. The Heritage wing, with its beautiful classic architecture, high ceilings, wide corridors and balconies, comprises of the Cafe, restaurant, bar and recreation lounges, etc. On the other hand, the later on added wings comprising of hotel rooms, I must say, though functional and clean, neither matches with its heritage wing in terms of architecture nor in terms with furnishings/ furniture. Except for the ground floor, the corridors are very narrow. The food in the restaurant was always freshly cooked and very satisfying, with excellent service. A special word of appreciation for Mr Shailendra, who was extremely cooperative in making our stay comfortable. He arranged for the cab, whenever required, at very short notices. Another positive is its location... away from the congested part of the city in the cantonment area.

The facility is great - beautiful lawns, awesome banquets, great decor. On the downside, room service and hose keeping is pathetic. The room that was allocated had a dysfunctional flush, no exhaust in the bathroom and the calling bell would not work. Had t use my engineering skills to get the flush to work - the house keeping staff could not. The staff are borderline rude as well. The restaurant staff commit t getting tea and coffee at breakfast and then disappear. Atleast, be honest and inform that we cant serve at the table. Overall, great ambience but pathetic staff service.

The room was well furnished; staff are well trained and courteous. We had an awesome lunch. Engineering services (Air conditioning and drainage in the room) need significant improvement. I had paid advance of Rs 3000 based on a mail from the hotel; I had provided the reference of the transaction to the hotel. However the hotel accounts department constantly bothered me without properly checking at their end - spoiling my recent holiday. Finally they acknowledged the receipt through a Whatsapp message and I am yet to receive any mail on the same

Pros Excellent food Okay sized rooms Polite staff Good housekeeping service Good parking space and gardens Cons Extremely Delayed order deliveries(food and any other requirements) Wifi password not available. You've got to 'request'. The shower curtains need a change. They look messy and unpleasant through the see-through bathroom wall. The room cleaning service happens 'suddenly' without prior notice when the guests are not in the room.. Guests must be alerted prior cleanup. I was disappointed to be offered a smaller room than what was shown on their website..Tha balcony was tiny. Suggestions to the management: While it's important to make the foreigners feel welcomed, it should neither surpass nor undermine the level of hospitality shown towards Indian guests. Every guest must be treated in an unbiased manner irrespective of where they are from. Please do not hesitate to feel proud of your rich culture and heritage. You should be the brand ambassadors of our country. Play more Indian music in the restaurants, bring in more Indian cuisines into the menu, etc. Be proud of your roots. I mean what's not to love about our beautiful country with traditions that run through the deepest ancient layers right? You have a lot of scope to display the Indian culture which I am sure many of the westerners would be keen to know about. Overall it's a good place to stay in Varanasi and you won't regret it.

Very well situated in the heart of bustling city of Varanasi, this hotel was our place of stay & we had a wonderful stay for 2 nights. The rooms are spacious & comfortable. Shower & toilets are great. It is a bit antiquated & not reflective of the shown photos but overall it is a great value for the price. We have not used the amenities but would expect it fine. Frequent brown outs are a bit problematic especially if you will plugin sensitive equipment. Service was good & staff were accommodating to our requests. We recommend this hotel to visitors & will definitely stay again if we happen to come back to town. Enjoy traveling ✈️

Very ordinary food quality. The one arranged by the marriage gang was food with no soul to it. With so much fan fare the quality and taste of food should also be monitored. Also the use of salt and soda in the food was alarmingly high. Would not prefer to eat here again. Radisson and The Taj have much better catering services.

We came to the spa here and had lunch. The spa was great, excellent service, wonderful massages. Food was good. Toilets not so great, tons of mosquitos in cubicles and the washbasin area. Felt neglected. No toilet paper or hand towels. Poor

I had one of my worst experience. 1 The rooms were stinking. We asked them to change the room but still the room had bad oder n had leakage in bathroom. It's just named as palace but the rooms are quite small so don't expect a huge room if you r expecting a spacious room in the name palace. 2 The Restaurant service wasn't good enough. The staff is bias towards foreign guests n we had to ask them for basic service like water or clearing the table We even had to keep on asking for basic cutlery where as they were attending the neighbouring table(foreigners) quite well. The staff was so not interested in serving us. I thing every guest should be treated equally wether indian or foreigner.

I had booked Luxury room with balcony. Clean rooms. Well mantained property. Only thing I didn't like was the morning breakfast. Very less items to choose from. Food is delicious. If you are visiting the property, you must try their Thali. Awsome taste.

Rooms need to be cleaned properly. The service is not very prompt. The staff needs to reminded everytime to clean the room properly, to keep the shaving and dental kits as and when required. Also the hotel needs to look out for proper hygiene in the washrooms near the poolside.

Amazing Ambience and Service! Our stay at this hotel was truly amazing. The service was top-notch, and the ambience was fabulous. Clean and spacious rooms added to the overall positive experience. Highly recommended for a memorable stay in Varanasi!

It was pleasure staying with you. It was an exemplary experience for me as well for my family. I stayed in this property for 3 days and the ambience was good. I loved their North Indian cuisines and if I talk about cleanliness, they literally have high standards in cleanliness which is an integral part of their property. I will recommend to everyone to go there and spend your time with your loved one as they will welcome you with warm wishesh.

Rooms are newly built. Renovation was still going on in the hotel but the noise from it was bearable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Manager Deepak is great and showed us the property. Loved the breakfast buffet

Rooms are newly built. Renovation was still going on in the hotel but the noise from it was bearable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Manager Deepak is great and showed us the property. Loved the breakfast buffet.. They had a bakery section.. continental.. North Indian.. South Indian .. Sprouts ... Fruit cuts .. juices .. tea ... The list is quite big and food quality was great... we in fact had lunch in the in-house restaurant.. service was slow but food was really good.. price wise decent in terms of hotel room price and in-house restaurant is fine dining so no complaints.

Comfortable and well run hotel. Reception staff and room cleaners particularly good. The decor in the corridors and rooms a bit tired and could be improved at minimum cost. The pool was closed for renovation which is encouraging but disappointing for current guests.

Alright, we stayed here for 3 Nights. Location is great as its very accessible to the heart of the city. Room was decent and comfortable, building is old but still good. The corridor is stinky not maintained well, ventilation is less. Parking space is not enough and uncomfortable. Overall its a good choice will give 4 stars. BUT THE BEST PART OF THE STAY WAS MR.RANGA, the hospitality provide by him was just awesome, we felt at home. Human beings like him are rare to find, he loves what he does and carries a smile on his face

Stayed for 2 days!! Had a decent stay and good rooms. The reception staff & room service staff both are equally well trained. Looking forward for more such stays in future. The breakfast menu is just to drool for . Both, Western & Indian menus were on the table. My plate looks bit messy, as I was in hurry to leave for my work 😃

Property is very beautiful and the rooms are impressive. Overall the maintenance of premises is very nice. Located at Cantonment area which hosts a lot of other premium hotels, this is a pocket friendly option with a parking space. However the staff is rude and arrogant specially the restaurant staff and pool side staff. They shut down swimming pool for guests at 5 pm to 7 pm - reason being they have swimming classes for locals. During the day it was 40 degrees and we didn't allow kids to go pool side and when we sent them, the reply was that you are not allowed now because we have classes scheduled come back after 7 pm in night. When we said how can you do that and you didn't inform us while booking, they replied that it's on the notice board and the attitude was simply - I'm not bothered kind of! Having such a huge property and conducting swimming classes is such a cheap act. Our next disappointment was the restaurant staff and food. It is no where close to the quality of property. Many rooms have twin beds so for people with kids, the sleep is very uncomfortable. They can't even attach the beds due to a metal lamp in between the beds which can bump your head in the night. Bathrooms on second floor rooms had very low water pressure. The soap dispensers were choked and so were the shower cubicles. So you basically had to take a bath in choked shower. The only silver lining was housekeeping staff which is very friendly and promptly attended to our requests. I had requested someone to clean the car but the parking staff said they are not authorised to do so even for a charge. There are banquet halls at the premises which are usually very busy and the hotel seems to be content with serving them rather than inhouse guests. To sum up - visit only of you don't get better options in cantonment area.

We were staying for one night in this Hotel. Our room was ok but not very clean (some feathers in the corner). It had a nice little balcony with a nice view over the garden but was a little far from an elevator. The Staff is quiet nice and attentive. The hallway is a little narrow and dark and without AC. Therefore it was quiet warm. Also for our stay the WIFI was not working on our floor. Restaurant food was great with international dishes on the menu

For videos and pictures visit my instagram “Delhi_foodspree” Title: A Blissful Experience at Hotel Surya, Varanasi Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5) I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Surya during my visit to the captivating city of Varanasi, and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. This charming hotel exceeded all my expectations, and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a comfortable and memorable stay in Varanasi. From the moment I stepped into the hotel, I was greeted by the warm and friendly staff who made me feel incredibly welcome. Their exceptional hospitality and attention to detail were truly commendable. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and I was promptly escorted to my well-appointed room. Speaking of the rooms, I was impressed by the spaciousness and cleanliness. The decor was elegant, combining traditional elements with modern amenities. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep after a long day of exploration. The room was equipped with all the necessary amenities, including a flat-screen TV, tea/coffee maker, and a well-stocked minibar. One of the highlights of Hotel Surya is undoubtedly its breathtaking rooftop terrace. The panoramic views of the Ganges River and the city of Varanasi were simply mesmerizing, especially during sunrise and sunset. It was the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the serene atmosphere of this spiritual city. The hotel's restaurant, "The Gardenia," offered a delightful culinary experience. The menu showcased a wide array of delectable dishes, both local and international, prepared with utmost finesse. The flavors were exceptional, and the service was impeccable. I particularly enjoyed the authentic local cuisine, which allowed me to savor the true essence of Varanasi. Furthermore, Hotel Surya's location is ideal for exploring the city's vibrant culture and heritage. It is conveniently situated within walking distance of the famous Dashashwamedh Ghat and other prominent attractions. The hotel also provides easy access to the bustling markets and shopping areas, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the local experience effortlessly. Last but not least, the staff at Hotel Surya truly went above and beyond to ensure my stay was memorable. They were always available to assist me with any inquiries or requests, and their warm and genuine hospitality made me feel like a valued guest throughout my stay. In conclusion, Hotel Surya in Varanasi is an exceptional choice for anyone seeking a comfortable and luxurious stay in this remarkable city. The impeccable service, beautiful rooms, stunning rooftop terrace, and convenient location make it a top-notch hotel. I cannot recommend it enough, and I am already looking forward to my next visit to this wonderful establishment.

The hotel is made around an old Palace (yes a real palace). Has a very nice old world charm to it. The food is pretty decent. The rooms are well appointed with almost each of them having balconies. The housekeeping could do a little better job at keeping the toilets clean. The front desk could be frienlier. The breakfast spread wasn't too memorable. Wouldn't mind coming back to give them a second chance. 😉

Far superior rooms and beds than other hotels. The beds were more spongy and their bathrooms had more features than their other competitors such as dryer, shaving kit, shoe cleaner, dental kit and facilities of hot and cold water in showers and basins. Air conditioning control was also in middle of the beds for easier access.

Good location, very spacious, could modernise the rooms and decor. Can improve their room service, it always a hit or a miss. Staff is very helpful, some of front desk people possibly the younger ones are more prompt. Can make the property more valuable, it has alot of potential i visited it for the first time in 2018, it is my most reliable bet to stay in varanasi. I am a frequent visitor, never disappoints me.

A super place to stay in Varanasi. About 20 mins from the airport and 15 mins from the main attractions. Very well managed property. Great staff. Great food. Fabulous breakfast buffet. They have ample parking. They have an indoor and out door bar. Nice rooms. Especially those with balconies. A heritage styled property.

Ample space to create a world class hospitality service. But seems, mgmt. is ok with mediocre customer experience. & it's visible in every aspect of hotel experience or customer touch points during the stay. Except the front desk. So, 2 stars for them. Rest starting from room maintenance to restaurant service, especially to breakfast area which is the low point of this hotel. Just to sum up, the owner/mgmt. are blessed with this kind of spacious property but seems customer experience at a toss. Sad

Well-appointed rooms courteous staff, great food, pool, spa and salon with modern amenities make the stay comfortable and pleasant. Autorickshaws are easily available for local transport. Highly recommended.

No room service at all I stayed here on 18.07.22 to 19.07.22 in a room of 3500 per day and upgraded to room no 201 in which AC was not working.on contacting at 41 I was asked to call at 9 I tried thrice after an interval of 10 minute at about 10.30 PM but not picked. And slept in humid room. In the morning when I needed water to take medicine I contacted so many times no body turned till my vacating the room after 1 hour. Such a great casual approach towords guests. I think if you have no other alternative of stay then goto Surya.Thanks.

One of the worst services and attitude of staff experienced here. The staff is poorly trained on basic customer service etiquette, they don't seem to care of whether you like it or not, or whether your permission is needed, they do as they please. They even had the audacity to offer to leave the hotel to look for another if found bad, after guess what taking the entire stay fee in advance !! Isn't that convenient. DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE.

  • 1/5 Sumeet 1 year ago on Google
Cleanliness wise the rooms are really pathetic. Towels didn't seem fresh. Leaking taps, dingy bathroom and yellowish bedsheets were the highlights of my stay. Ambience and cosmetics of the hotel is good but what matters is the place where you sleep and stay. Clearly avoidable.

The head and the supporting staffs are really good. Their service towards their guests is extremely satisfying. The food is really very tasty and the ambience is very soothing. Overall the environment is very good for family, friends and small get together. It was my pleasant experience over there. One of the best places in varanasi.
