    Expect to pay 2X to 3X to the advertised online prices. Started off on the wrong foot right at the rental spot coming out of the plane. Sales people would just point out outside to randomly wait for the van supposed to actually take us to where we would get the car. After 15 minutes or so, the van never came and we decided to walk all the way there. The place was a little bit crowded even though they seemed fully staffed. Service was slow, people didn't seem to know what they were doing. I don't know if these were all new people or what, but it shouldn't take this long to rent a car. I can't speak about rates or weather or not insurance was included since it was not me personally who hired the service, but if it's up to me, next time I'll take my chances somewhere else. EDIT: Ok, so maybe I wasn't about the long waiting times. We're talking couples fighting, wives trying to comfort their husbands, kids crying... That kinda stuff. Also, we already had a reservation! We had a dead phone battery sittuation when we got here. Not it's 100%, and still no car. I'm sure we could've walked there by now.

    Quick, easy, and transparent prices as long as you Book directly with Avis online in advance. We bought LDW and ALI as well. Car was pretty clean and almost new. Shuttle service is pretty fast. No extra charges after drop off.

    Everything worked great with my rental. Avis picks you up at the terminal as you cannot walk from every terminal. Staff is friendly and quick to get everything ready. Wait time was manageable and return was overall quick and efficient. Can recommend Avis a lot as they have cars in good conditions. You can even get a Tesla

    They are super lazy and stupid bit. I can’t expect this level of indifference when I took a car for 3 months and I asked them (Josue and than manager Daniel when first one was in regular stagnation about answering) for a couple of week approximately every day sent me an invoice for my last payment due to the current inability to pay by blocked credit card. God I was so angry but nothing!! but when i returned the car, they demanded to pay cash in the place -yea huge price but they don’t care because there’s not there problems.) To settle something not in automatic mode - it is too difficult for them. Hey Avis you need a good manager for these sloths.

    AVIS was amazing 👏 👏 👏 I booked with Expedia for security reasons because I read about how expensive it could be at the airport but they offered the same prices on their web page. The staff was great friendly and helpful, maybe it was my luck but I got the exact car I picked online. No extra fees but show them the proof that you paid for everything. I have now been driving the car for a week and it took very good care of my family and me, so we returned the favor, which reminds me, please get insurance from Avis. I got my own insurance and yes it was a little cheaper but I was nervous most of the time I was driving, we have a lot of fast drivers in Cancun and people that park really close to each other, i parked far from any entrence so i could stay away from the cars and avoid any accidental door hits, but next time I rent with Avis I will be purchasing their insurance to have completely peace of mind. Tomorrow I drop of the nissas in the airport and head back home a very happy customer. THANK YOU AVIS!!!

    I was hesitant to rent from this Avis due to the negative reviews. However, I booked online for a 4 week rental and the price they gave me was almost half of what every other agency was quoting, so I decided to risk it. I was very pleasantly surprised by my experience. We were already in Cancun so we took an Uber to the airport and the pick up of the car was smooth. It was a Saturday so it was very busy, but the staff were helpful and friendly. A lot of the complaints in the comments seem to come from people being surprised by the company placing a $1,500 hold on their cards for the duration of the rental. This is standard in Mexico and ALL car rental agencies in Mexico will place a similar hold, unless you purchase their upgraded insurance options. I purchased the most basic insurance requirement and opted to be liable for damages and have the hold on my card. Despite having the car for 4 weeks I had no issues. My main suggestion to people wanting to book any rental car in Mexico is do your research on the insurance requirements, book online, and make sure to take many photos and videos of the car when you pick it up for proof if you do have someone try to charge you for damage that was not on you.

    The wait to get the car was fairly long. The condition of the car was not great, but the good part was that we didn't feel they were trying to rip us off. The cost (including liability) was consistent with the estimate from Avis online reservation, and they didn't force us to buy LDW. They did inspect the car a lot more carefully upon return than any US location does, so make sure to check for any damage at pickup. I'm glad that we did.

    I love Avis and I’ve been a preferred member for 15 years. This is the worst Avis. We are preferred members and our car wasn’t ready. They said the car was being washed. We have now been here 30 mins waiting for the car. I have 2 kids and it’s 9pm. We have been traveling all day and there are 6 guys standing around doing nothing. I could wash it myself carrying my baby and it would be faster. I will not be renting here again!

    Pleasantly surprised by my experience! I paid exactly what I was quoted online and wasn't hassled. I declined additional insurance due to credit card coverage and they didn't push it, just put large hold on my card which is expected. They also went above and beyond when I was trying to find the person I was traveling with upon arrival - they coordinated shuttle pick up for him which we were struggling to figure out on our own. The car pick up process was quick and everyone I spoke to was friendly. Drop off was even more efficient and easy. Paid ~$50/day (automatic Aveo)

    I read the reviews and travel tips about car rentals. I booked through Rentalcars.com and contacted the Avis agent at Cancun Airport. She directed me to the Avis shuttle location just outside the terminal. The shuttle was very prompt and took us to the Avis lot. The front desk staff was very helpful, I will tell you to make sure that you read the fine print while renting a vehicle. They do not accept a Debit card for a large deposit amount. I chose to purchase the total coverage insurance which only had a $70 (refundable) deposit. The total extra cost (two day rental) was $210 ($70 refundable). I was able to use my debit card for that amount, so it was worth it. Now, some people may think the insurance is a scam, but peace of mind was worth it for us on the trip. It was the first time I had driven in Mexico and knowing that if the lane-splitting motorcyclists or the make-your-own-lane taxi drivers hit me; that I was covered...well, that was nice. The front desk folks were extremely friendly, when we checked out the vehicle, the walk around inspector was very thorough and encouraged video. The return was smooth and simple and I had absolutely no issues. When I return to Mexico, I will rent with Avis again!

    Check in was lengthy but only because it was busy. We checked out early in the morning and it was the fastest and smoothest process. Jorge is the rep that helped us check out and he put us on ease about the entire process. I was a bit skeptical about renting given some of the comments but there is nothing to be worried about. Highly recommend this place!

    I read so many bad things about the car rental in Cancun that I was a bit concerned. Though, everything went smooth - price was good. Service was good. The Avis team was not pushy at all for extra insurance.

    We make frequent trips to Mexico and always use Avis. Experiences have been mixed so far but this time it was just outrageously negative. We rented a car two days ago and this morning the car will not start (battery and fuel are fine). Emergency road side service is a joke and you can’t get through. Customer service at Cancun Avis is even worse. At first they promised to come change the car as there are several more days on the rental as we are traveling with a 5 year old on vacation. Now they are not coming, not changing the car, and they’ve asked to just leave the car on the side of the road. I honestly can’t believe how bad the service is. We are left now with a car we can’t use and no replacement to continue our trip to see the sights as planned. Obviously the plans are ruined. There are several cars available at the Cancun airport but either laziness or incompetence is preventing them from fixing the situation. I’m a long time Avis customer, have status and all that, but this means nothing. Clearly if you don’t want your vacation ruined by a sudden issue with car - you can never rely on Avis as the rental.

    DO NOT Rent from this company. Despite being an international company they are SCAMMERS at this location. I was subject to a bait and switch scheme as many described here. I was promised a 5 day rental rate and return time for a set price. The desk clerk confirmed that price and timeline then only wrote the rental for 4 days which I failed to catch at 0130a. They charged me extra when I returned the car after the 5 days. When I tried to resolve the issue at the store they kicked me out and told me to leave. I have filed a complaint and dispute with AVIS but it takes up to 15 days to resolve. Never again!

    They will take your deposit away. Don’t get scam and pick another rental company. They didn’t do tire inspection in the beginning and they said there is a bump on the tire when we return the car. They said we don’t do tire inspection with customer but they do it when you return the car without insurance. Manager come out and he said we don’t usually charge it but sorry you didn’t buy insurance. He initially pointed at another spot, later at one more spot. TLDR: if you don’t buy insurance, expect to pay more no matter what Good luck if you rent from this franchise

    Wonderful service from check in to check out. The team is top notch. The gentleman who checked me out in the Preferred line was very friendly and honest. He handed me back a sunglass case I had forgotten in the car. Kudos to the fantastic van drivers, especially the one who drove my wife and I back to the terminal today. I feel terrible that I did not have any cash left to tip him as he deserves the reward. I do not understand some of the Google reviews as I found this location to be exceptional. Congrats to the team and managers here.

    Heard a lot of bad reviews. Mine was good. Experience of pick up : first airport shuttle took 20 30 minutes to come. Other rental companies were on shorter duration. But this seems ok. I went on pick up site in shuttle. I was immediately assisted by a staff member. I mentioned that I have amex insurance and they mentioned that I don't have to take collision insurance with them. However, I still took the insurance for my piece of mind. Although insurance cost was double of my original cost. But I knew that in advance. Price was same as seen on app. Staff member also gave me a car upgrade, so that is good. On return : easy return. Took 2 min. Shuttle was already there so no wait.

    I had an issue with my reservation from another company, so I just went to Avis counter at the airport and was able to rent a vehicle on the spot. They offered me a good deal with insurance included. I had no issues with the vehicle and the return was seamless. I would recommend renting with them, just make sure everything is clear on the rental agreement.

    Unfortunately I got a car with a flat tire and was lucky that I found it out before a catastrophe. I went back to the office and they have a very nice Manager. She was very helpful and she got my issue fixed quickly. Good to have such Manager

    Online prepaid was a scam from my point of view, it supposed to include all taxes and mandatory insurance, it was not the case. So I finish paying more for the insurance than the car rental, and as it was prepaid it was not refundable to go to another car rental company. Also they give me a car that smells so bad (cigarette or any kind of smoke) now I need to change it. Insurance plans are "optional", but it is needed to leave a deposit charging the credit card for USD1.500. The text on the website promoting the prepaid renting is confusing and at the end you will pay a lot always.

    The ease of being able to rent on the app, get your car right away and skipping the line at the counter ( that was the case in Puerto Rico) or taken to your hotel( in Mexico) is hands down the best perk. Everyone is friendly and professional. Prices are comparable but you can get a discount or coupons which is a plus.

    Got a brand new car, no problems. Pretty smooth return. Pick-up started well with personal assistant greeting/guiding us to shuttle. One you arrive to car-pick up spot, wasn’t smooth despite being preferred member (no difference); it took about 25mins, waiting on every sub-step and having a lady drill your ears to purchase additional vacation packages from partners while waiting for the car.

    I have rented from various rental companies at the Cancun airport and by far Avis is the most hassle free and has one of the best (apple to apple comparison) rates direct through their website. Other rental companies occasionally had a lower advertised rate but I've found the hassle at check-in check-out counter is just not worth it. Avis offered cars in good condition, easy check in/check out process with a shuttle to and from the terminals. While there's always room for improvement, Avis has been the best I've encountered.

    My rental was ok. The pick up and returning check out was quick. Suggesting scrutinizing the body of your rental before leaving the rental shop. Taking pictures on the existing findings is the best way for documentation purpose! They mistakenly charged me some extra money but it was quick rectified by Noe after I pointed out. The rental car was clean and ready to go. It was a little bit tricky to find the right lane to drive back to the shop to return the car. As a loyal Avis customer, I would recommend it!
