I was over charged for my room with no explanation. When I checked in the employee wrote down my credit card information on a piece of paper which I didn’t think twice about at the time but now that I have been overcharged it is quite concerning. I called the hotel on my 2 hour drive home for an explanation and sat on hold for nearly my whole drive. I have not been able t get in touch with anyone and I have not received any response from my emails. In addition to being overcharged the room was filthy. I I am not picky about my hotel rooms as I typically only use them as a place to lay my head for a few hours but this room had me questioning what actually goes on in these hotel rooms. On the bright side I did not see any bedbugs.

This was probably one of the dirtiest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Hair all over the bathroom, toilet was not clean, random marks on the wall. Gum was on the floor. We switched rooms twice and both rooms had broken chairs and were just filthy. Hotel pool and hot tub were closed and broken. Sounds like this issue has been going on for awhile and not just an isolated incident. There are other options in the area, don’t stay here.

This hotel is roach infested. I took pictures of roaches in the halls and stairwells, showed them to the front desk in an attempt to report the issue and get a refund. When I reported the issue, the staff at the front desk minimized the fact that this hotel could be the very cause of families taking bugs back to their homes. They refused to refund my stay although I’d been in the room for less than 3 hours. I vacated the premises after finding the bugs, especially after staff refused to address the issue, let alone refund my stay. In addition, my safety was at risk, as the locks on my room door were literally broken off the door on the inside. Another issue that was reported. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this disgusting place.

This hotel is sad! I'm glad everyone else's experience was not like mine. We had to wait aboutb 30 min to get checked in due to one person being at the front desk. We finally got our room and when we went in the sheets were visibly very dirty(red, which my husband said looked like blood and yellow spots) and a very displeasing smell reeked! At this point I don't want to stay at this hotel. The desk person came to look at the room and told us he would give us a different room. The second room refrigerator did not work and no wash cloths were left in this room. We'll never stay again.

Only thing good about hotel is the location. Our room was clearly dirty, food splatter in microwave hair in bathroom dirty toilet with a mold ring inside, alot of marks on surface that clearly shows nothing was wiped down. Whole bowl worth of cheerios dumped under our pull out couch. Tried to use the pool and hot tub, should of known better with the greenish color and cloudiness to the hot tub. Breakfast was a huge miss in my books and the eggs made my husband sick for the rest of the day. The whole hotel is dirty same spill spots, dirt and greasy hand prints in same spots as when we got there to when we left. The amount of money we spent and how far we drove for that quality is super frustrating. Spend the extra bit I guess and stay elsewhere.

Room smells just like cig smoke. Bed spread have spots on it. This is not good when you paying 317. For 2 nights. Never will I stay here again.

I stayed at the Comfort Suites Benton Harbor in late July 2023. The hotel is located close to the lake, and it was a natural choice given the location and the cost-effective price. The check-in was efficient, and the room was very well-kept and clean. A minor issue occurred when the key to the room stopped working, and maintenance had to come to replace something in the magnetic card reader of the room. The maintenance person was quick, even though it was slightly inconvenient. Overall, I would recommend the location, although I would also recommend that management do their best to avoid these kinds of inconveniences for guests or find a way to credibly apologize when they occur.

I booked a reservation 3 weeks prior as I had a wedding in the area, which I had paid for at the booking time. I booked it through the Choice Hotel website. When I got there the room wasn't ready at the check-in time. The manager said he had to put me in a different room, cancelled my original reservation, and charged me again but at almost double the rate. He said he didn't know how I booked that originally, but I had to pay the weekend rate. I didn't get a refund for the original booking either, which is why I am now going to corporate. I now have 2 charges for the same stay, which in my opinion is fraudulent since the total charged amount doesn't match any number I was told. I've never had this issue before anywhere I've stayed. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to deal with all this at the time since I had to get to the wedding I was there for. The room itself was ok, comforter had stains on it and the door latch was missing.

I didn't see previous reviews until after I booked my stay, so when I checked them right before I arrived I was nervous and critical. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised. The hotel was clean, pool area sanitary and in good order, staff was attentive and friendly, and room large with fridge and microwave. Breakfast was hot and they kept it coming to 10:00. The hotel is older and I felt the price point reflects this. I docked one star for minor maintenance issues. Room was a bit musty smelling (consistent with older hotels), the closet door was difficult to open ND close, sink missing stopper, and no towel racks or hooks in the bathroom. Overall, I would stay here again because it was cheap and clean with a good breakfast.

I would give 0 stars if I could. First, the place is disgusting. Immediately upon arrival I regretted booking this place, you could tell it wasn't going to be clean. The bigger issue, is that they GAVE AWAY OUR ROOM when we were checking in for a wedding starting in 2 hours. We literally had no where to stay. The front desk was unapologetically unhelpful. Stay far, far away.

This place was HORRIBLE! Stains on the bed sheets and when I was going to take a shower the door did not lock! The bed was not comfortable at all and I swear something bit me. The elevator was making weird noises and the service is terrible. The “hot” tub did not even work! They said “we have a fully working hot tub” yeah right! The pool was horrible and slimy too. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

this hotel was very disappointing. the bad reviews are true. The cleanliness was zero. Stains on the carpet , musty moldy smell in the room & dirty towels and sheets. This was not a good place to stay. the carpet seemed very very old. Comfort suits you need to upgrade and retrain the cleaning staff.

This is a great 2 star hotel! The Continental breakfast was good with hot options as well as the standard fare. We were able to check in early with no trouble. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The pool and hot tub were well kept and our room was spacious and clean, and made our stay with 4 adults quite manageable. Lots of things to do nearby including a nature center, hiking trails, lots of beaches and shopping options. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is disgusting. Every inch of this hotel needs wiped down with a Clorox wipe or bleach. There are hand prints and stains all over this hotel. Our sheets had cigarette burns and stains galore. We booked a room with a pull out mattress that wasn’t cleaned. It had crumbs between the mattress and a huge yellow (I’m assuming pee) stain. We had to ask the desk for extra sheets and these sheets were covered in dark stains and toothpaste stains. The walls of our room were also covered in large gross stains. For breakfast we had cold eggs and saw a cockroach climbing down the wall of the dining room. The staff was very nice but the cleanliness of this hotel was just not it.

Hotel located on the nice and quiet side of the highway. The staff is very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The room and furniture do need some work but it’s not my home so I could care less. All I care about is bed which was very comfortable, bathroom which was very clean, AC worked perfectly fine and breakfast was delicious with lot of options. I am sure if you are nice to the staff they will be also nice to you. Trust me, You get what you give. I had a very good experience here but seems like nobody has time to write a review for a good experience and everyone has plenty of time to write a review for bad experience. It’s a hotel everything cannot be perfect, I am fine as long as the staff is accommodating and respectful. I would highly recommend this place!

Our room was really nice, the hotel was clean and everyone was very friendly. The ladies that took care of our room were awesome. It was the least expensive of the hotels in the area, and I slept great.

We had a wonderful stay here! Excellent rooms and front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. Vini was amazing, she ran the breakfast like a rock star! Vini was helpful and did it all with a smile. We will most definitely be back next year!

I should have known at check in that this wasn't going to be a good stay. There was no one at the desk and no buzzer. I stood there at least 5 minutes before I had to call the hotel and tell them I was there. Its wasn't crazy late either, it was barely 8pm. The room itself was decent I suppose. But clearly dated. The walls and furniture were scuffed, but the bed was comfy enough. The breakfast was a whole slew of issues though. From the paper plates that kept bending and dumping people's food to the ants.....it was just bad. I tossed my plate as soon as I saw the "extra protein" and checked out immediately.

Poorly managed poorly maintained hotel. And staff not friendly .. We arrived at night the room had mold on the ceiling and smelled so bad . The ceiling paint was peeled due to damage and the peels falled on the carpet . They gave us to two rooms first one the AC did not work and second has same leak in the ceiling and same molld smell after all they said we have this issue in the first floor and switch us to another room with 20 percent discount in that room the TV was not working . I would never stay in this hotel again even though we like comfort suites in other locations

Disappointing The pool was closed. This was not noted on their website. I stayed here because of the pool & hot tub. Upon checking in, We were told we could use the pool at a different Comfort Suites which was 10 minutes away. Hotel rooms were dirty. Stains on the pull-out couch, floor, curtains, office chair, urine on back of toliet & hair in sink. Goldfish crackers all over hallway steps for 2 days.

I arrived on August 19th for a family wedding on August 20th. I was given a room on the third floor. It smelled like an ashtray. I immediately went down to ask for another room. I was given another room on the third floor. It also smelled like an ashtray but not as bad as the first room. I gave up at this point and figured that all the rooms probably smelled this way. My husband and I went out to dinner and I brought leftovers to my room. The refrigerator was not working. I called the front desk and the gentleman said that there was no maintenance person in the building. I searched behind it and it was unplugged. I ended throwing out my leftovers. The clock was unplugged - I tried to plug it in and got a shock. We could not use the other plug for the light by the desk because it did not work. There was a missing light bulb by the couch light - very dangerous, if I had children with me. The toilet was dirty and had black stuff around the rim - it was disgusting. The breakfast was as expected. I would never ever stay at a Comfort Inn ever again!!!! I would have left and went to the Hilton or Marriott up the road but was trapped into staying because of Choice Hotel Reservations - they had received my payment upfront with no refund. I was hoping that I didn't get bud begs or roaches. Stay at this hotel at your own risk!!!!!!

It started as soon as we checked in. The person working the front desk wasn't very friendly, not rude but also not very welcoming and they complained about hating "coming to work behind other people because nothing was done right" which was pretty unprofessional. The lobby was dingy and dirty and the furniture was all very worn and it was hot in there. Same thing with the common areas like the hallways and elevator, dirty (like built up dirt, like things hadnt been cleaned in some time) it was musty smelling and very warm. In our room the bed skirt was disgusting the bathroom counter was sticky and the shower curtain was ripped and smelled like mold. We needed to use the sofa bed so we opened that up and a bunch of crumbs from the couch fell out everywhere and there was an old used sheet left wadded up inside the bed. We went in search of a vending machines and found out from the front desk there were none in the building, instead you could purchase items from thier "market place" which was a shelf with a few items and a cooler with a variety of drinks. Okay no big deal. Except that a 16.9 oz bottle of pop was $3! What? The pool water looked very murky, and I thought maybe it was full of chemicals but there was no "pool smell" so I chose not to use the pool. The hot tub was broken and taped off with caution tape. During our stay the toilet needed to be plunged so we went to the front desk to notify them. The person working said they didn't know where THE plunger (like there is only 1!?) was at at the moment. We left our room number with the front desk and we left for the beach, we were gone 4-5 hours and assumed someone would go to the room while we were gone. When we got back we were surprised no one had gone to the room to fix toilet issue so I called the desk and they said I could come down and grab the plunger. So I did. I thought it was kind of odd that someone from the staff didn't take care of it, but I get it who really wants to do that. In the end we slept fine, the bed was comfortable, the shower was hot and the room was cold like we like it. But overall the place was dirty and in need of a deep clean. I definitely won't stay here again and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I could probably look past it if one or two of these thing had happened but there were just too many issues.

So much wrong that could be fixed. If I had read the reviews I would have made other plans. Room 100 had the worst smell i have ever experienced. I immediately walked back to the desk to ask for a different room. Room 126 was better after our usual Lysol spray down and bleach wiped. However, carpet needed to be vacuumed and overall cleaning was poor. Check out is 11am. Called the desk ad they allowed a 1 hour late check out. However, room service knocked and entered our room at 10;37am!!!!! Told them we had a late check out at noon. They came back at 11:30a. No reasons for this as the hotel was fairly vaccant... others read the reviews I suppose. Choice hotels need to start looking at these reviews and holding these managers/owners more accountable. Paid $159(Choice member price) for $49.99 room.
