Poor and slow service, personnel appears to be uneducated and sloppy. But the food is even worse, being mediocre at best. The servings are tiny, looks more like children's meals than proper adult servings. One of the worst value for money restaurants in Norway, almost worse than the garbage dump called "Egon". Avoid this overpriced junk place at all costs.

Very nice outdoor terrace but that's about the only good thing here. The service was very slow and the food even worse. The burger was made with frozen meat and overcooked with a very thick burnt crust. I ate less than half of the meat and pointed it out to the server, but he just said he'd tell the kitchen (no reduction in bill or offer of anything else). Mussels in white wine sauce had a far too overpowering flavour of garlic and it seemed that the garlic had not been sauteed for long enough (or at all?). Will not recommend for food unfortunately.

Was greeted by a waiter who did not understand that we wanted a table for three indoors and showed us the way outdoors. The table we were given was dirty and it took a long time before we got to order food. The food is good, but it does not help when the restaurant appears dirty and the staff can not communicate well with guests on either Norwegian or English. Jacob Aall Bergen, not recommended.

It is not the best restaurant in Bergen but not a bad choice either . Their Burgers is quite ok, the prices could be better however . Their beer selection is poor which is a minus. The staff is helpful which is a plus.

The only good thing about this place is it's central location and outdoor area, which is nice for a couple of beers on a summer day. However, the food is subpar, the service lackluster and the prices are way too high. My medium-rare steak order was very well done, and they did not take my complaint seriously. There are a lot of better options in Bergen.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. The food's fairly good - I had a delicious entrecôte - however, my stomach was still craving for something that could actually fill it up, as I was still starving when I left the place. In short, it was an overpriced and not particularly filling meal.

Waiting for service for 30 min from 14 White wine in the menu only 2 available. O yes and you have to pay before you get it. Not recommended!!!! One of the 2 available wines!

Was very well set up with quality food (especially the bbq burger that my partner opted for😂 and of course the salad w/ lobster I got as well). They also do this lovely milkshake with a donut on the side which looked a bit funny to me but tasted very good.. hmm. Overall a great place to eat. If only the staffs we encountered were a bit more responsive, would've given it a 5!

The food is good, but the atmosphere inside is unfortunately lacking. We were a large group (40+) and we had ordered in advance, so the restaurant knew when we were coming and how many we would be. When we arrived at the predetermined hour, the table lanterns had not been lit, and most were even empty of fuel. Even after we started to light some of them ourselves, the staff did not "take the hint" to refuel and relight the rest. At first, there was only one waiter to take all our drink orders, and it took quite some time for everybody to make their order. When the drinks finally arrived, some of us did not get what we had ordered. When this was pointed out we were told that they were out of what we had ordered, so without conferring with us they had just switched our orders for something else (more expensive). No mention of the fact that they were out, no mention of the actual switch, it had just been done. The reason given was that they were so busy, which is not a reason at all (especially since they had beforehand knowledge of how many we would be, and they should have taken this into account for the amount of staff present). The food started to arrive about three quarters of an hour after we had arrived, which is not too bad given the size of our group. However, the service was way too slow, half of us had almost finished eating before the last had received their food. As an afterthought it seemed, the ketchup (for the fries) was brought out mid-meal, when a lot of us were almost done. I had the Jacob Aall burger which was quite good, the buns were a bit dry, but the burger and dressing made up for that. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. After dinner we had a really good dessert with ice cream and a sort of warm chocolate fudge cake, this was the highlight of the meal! Having worked for six years myself in the restaurant business, I know the importance of small things like refilling and relighting the lanterns (or removing them from the tables if you're out of lamp oil). Exchanging orders without telling the customer is also a very big no no, especially given that the substitute was more expensive. Long serving times is to be expected with a large group, but increasing the number of staff present can alleviate this somewhat. Some of my concerns might be because we were a large group, but most of them (lanterns, order changes, ketchup) are not. All in all I cannot recommend this place, for the lack of attention to details which make you feel welcome.
